Too noisy fan on Processor__ noise

I have a loud fan in my processor which is constantly changing and all using the computer.  What could be the problem?  Should I be worried?

Thanks a lot for your comments.  I'll certainly check things.  Much appreciated!

  • e7240 CONSTANT NOISE OF FAN NOISY / FAN RUNNING ALL THE TIME

We received 2 nine E7240s directly from Dell, one for me and one for my colleague. As soon as I turned it on to build for my colleague, I noticed that the machine was overheating and the fan made a noise. Dell offers an upgrade of the BIOS that has not changed anything. They then changed the radiator, even once, that does not change and since then, they have changed the motherboard. My colleague went on vacation, so I don't know if the problem has been resolved, however, my laptop day you do not overheat (also of course as it has done for my colleague) BUT THE FAN RUNS ALL THE TIME. So much so that I think that the person in the room upstairs is using his hairdryer. Dell has replaced the heatsink of heat and the motherboard yesterday, I did the same update of the BIOS and the problem is even worse. As soon as I turn the thing, the fan runs all the time making a big noise. My predecessor was the E6500 and I was not bothered by noises, he did.

The 7240 made so much noise that I want to throw it out the window , seriously, I go back to my old 5 years e6500, which is now very slow, I can not just take constant hair dryer of the fan noise! I'm waiting for Dell back to me, but I don't see what else they can do.

I suspect a problem of design with newer models, someone with a laptop computer Latitude 13 also mentioned it on the Forum, someone else with an e7240 also said "I noticed the fan turns most of the time - it's quiet, but you don't know is spinning."  I just implemented, so the CPU is busy enough. "A person with the e6320 says"and the fan is noisy and turns far too often.

I just bought a new Dell Latitude E7240 with Windows 7 laptop and had the same problem with overheating and the fan is running loudly all the time. I just fixed it on my laptop, it may not work for everyone but just in case I walked it here.

The index for me was that the question has happened at home, not at work.

    • Using the Task Manager, I found that a "svchost.exe" process was always running at 25% of the CPU, i.e. to take 100% of one of the 4 hearts. For this you need view all processes, and that's why you need a local administrator account if she asks permission.
    • With right click on this process-online 'Go to services', you can study what services are hosted by this instance of svchost.
    • For each of these services, try to stop one at a time (if it helps) and see if the CPU usage goes down. For me, a clue was a service stuck on 'Stop' but never stopped.
    • The service which for me was the "HomeGroup provider." That's why the issue has happened at home and at work. The laptop had spotted my homegroup on my home network, but had not been able to accede. Maybe a problem with IPv6 that I could not turn on my desk.
    • In the Services tab in Task Manager, get on the service properties, which set to Disabled Startup Type.
    • Restart the laptop, to ensure that the service is stopped.

That did the trick for me, and now the CPU remains less than 5% when idle. This isn't the problem that the fan is noisy when the CPU usage is high, but for me what rarely happens now.

If you want to access files and printers on your home network without the homegroup feature, you can still do that the old way:

    • Network and sharing Center-Online avancΘs => Homegroup Connection-online 'use user accounts to connect to other computers.
    • Also in the settings advanced: enable discovery network. and Turn on File and Printer Sharing.
    • Then, you can click on your wifi network => add a printer.
    • If your office does not appear, click on "Not listed", then browse. As long as the network discovery and printer sharing are enabled, desktop PC should appear and you can connect using your local Windows user name and password.

    Hope this helps someone.

  • My Mac was purchased in November 2014. The fan makes a noise Purring but stops when I lift it and hold it vertically. I just got this back from repair to the workshop of John Lewis as he made a further strong noise.

My Macbook (one and a half year). The fan has become noisy and I just got in return for repair from John Lewis. The problem is that I think that it is still too noisy. He runs not fast, but it is noisier than it was when we bought it first.  The fan noise also stops when I take the Mac on the end. Is this normal?  Thank you.

There is no such thing as a MacBook 1 year and a half with a fan.

    The 12 '' MacBook isn't a fan.

The last MacBook with a fan was the 2010 model.

Perhaps you have a MacBook Air or a MacBook Pro, if so you should post your question to one of these areas of the forum.

  • Satellite U840W-10J - noisy fan and the version of the bios

    Hello

    more top of the machine when you run tempro said new version of bios is available, the link to it is [Satellite U840W BIOS 6, 40 - WIN | http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_driver_details.jsp?service=EU&selCategory = 2 & selFamily = 2 & selSeries = 198 & selProduct = 7570 & selSh ortMod = null & language = 13 & selOS = 40 & selType = 4 & yearupl = DST & monthupload = & dayupload = & useDate = null & mode = all Machines & search = & action = search & macId = & country = all & selectedLanguage = 13 & type = 4 & page = 1 & ID = 84640 & DISO =-1 & driverLanguage = 42]

But when I go to the bios, it says the version of bios is already 6.4 - which is strange since the release of this version of the bios date is 10/07/13. And I don't know that I don't have day of the bios for this version this month :)

Why does say new version is available?
Would be - that there's a newer version available, that only that it binds to an evil?
Even if I download and try to install it, it says that this version of the rom is the same.

Second question is noisy fan, most of the time is at very high speed (and because of the odd design, when the laptop is open, screen - which becomes really hot fan).
Since no other laptop I used make these noises, if I really need to update for the bios? But which version?

Health Monitor shows the 77% fan speed - and I'm not playing games or whatever it is, cpu is always below 10%, I m doing nothing, just a light browsing can turn up to such percentage. What I've noticed, is that it becomes this top still when HARD drive this is - like application installation, download updates, etc... I have download the latest drivers intel to drive HARD, all drivers are more recent. Or is it only noisy due to bad design (fan blowing on screen), and I can use it for heavy work and just have to ignore the noise of the fan?

Last updated driver to trackpad kills finger double scroll btw, so, maybe you guys could solve the problem too? Since I had to go back to the old version.

BTW, the machine is only two days old

I think that you should not be confused on BIOS. Maybe there is a problem with Tempro. This process runs automatically and it is possible that there is a technical problem. If you have latest BIOS is OK so Don t you worry about this. Just continue to use your laptop and don t change anything.

What about cooling fan? Cooling fan is controlled automatically and according to the temperature CPU cooling fan works more rapid or slower. When you play the games you need more performance, so use leverage plan high performance. For each day of activities, use the balanced power plan. It will reduce the CPU usage, but it will be good enough for low level activities. What you can try is to change the options for the method of cooling. You can find it in the advanced power options. It should reduce fan cooling and portable activity should run quietly.

    Play around with these options.

  • Re: Satellite A500-GL - noisy fan

Many people have complained about the noise of the fans on these portable and many computers and many times it is requested to clean.
In many cases, laptops were new. Mine is new and makes a noise so * please MAKE is NOT * tell me to clean it up.
This isn't what causes the problem.

There is a problem with the noisy fans on this laptop and I noticed that it was a question on mobile phones earlier in this series too.
These users managed to get Toshiba to take note and to eventually release a BIOS update to fix the problem.

Please can someone from Toshiba, taking this problem serious too so users of GM of the A500, GL models can also receive a solution for this noisy fan.

If you have this laptop and suffer from this problem, please add your name below.

    Hello

Noisy fan? You mean the cooling module run too fast or what?
The cooling module would go faster and longer if the internal temperature for laptop would be too high.
You can control the laptop and cooling performance in Windows 7 power management!

    Have a look here:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/Ann.jspa?annID=41

It s on Vista, but the settings are very similar in Windows 7

PS: One of my friends owns an A500 and cooling modules work as usual

  • Noisy fan on model Satellite U50T-A

Someone told me everything resolves to a noisy fan? I have upgraded to Windows 10 but has had this problem before. I've tried the settings mode eco but fan still works in the background without the computer that is running hot.
I saw the previous posts on this issue, but he does not seem to have solved easily and turns into a game works.

I have BIOS version 1.10 but don't really want to mess with upgrades as they also seem to cause problems.
No miracle solution would be great that this whirring noise leads me into the wall.

Have you tried to change cooling option method in advanced power options?

Usually this should reduce the activity of fan cooling.

  • Satellite Pro P200-15W: after Bios Update 1.90 incredibly noisy fan

Hi, I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro P200-15W, I recently made an update to BIOS version 1.9 and seems to have been a big mistake.
After restarting the computer, I had a lot of software deconfig and the fan has become incredibly noisy.

I have the problem with the Toshiba Vista registration software, I get this message: "registration of Vista has stopped working". I read other discussions, I don't want to just disable it in the start.ini file, I would actually solve the problem if there is a way.

Is there a way to change the configuration of fans? I read a post from Toshiba on another model of laptop that has had the same problem of noisy fans after an update of the BIOS, they gave that a solution with a new version of the BIOS, is there a way to reverse the BIOS to the previous version? (recovery CD will be useful for this purpose)?

    See you soon

    Edgard

    Hello

It seems that the picture of the fan was changed and renewed in the new version of BIOS, and so fans run fall.
Why the table fan has been changed?

Well, usually something like this is necessary to improve the reduction of the internal temperature while the CPU and GPU are running with maximum performance.
This helps to prevent the equipment from damage!

Usually, the recovery CD formats the whole HARD drive (partitions too) and installs only the image of Toshiba on the notebooks of HARD drive.
The image contains the OS, drivers and additional software and has nothing to do with the BIOS update.
But you can try to recover the laptop to see if you can solve the problems of software as "Vista record"!

If you want to reverse the BIOS, you will need to contact the ASP in your country!

Sorry, but all I can suggest.

    Best regards

  • Noisy fan with 10 Windows using Portege Z30 - B

I have my Toshiba Portege Z-30 b for the last 7 months. He received with Windows 8 pro. installed, all played very well. I have upgraded to Windows 10 about 5 months ago, after the upgrade, the fan ran constantly at a high unacceptable noise. Toshiba service replaced the fan - no result. I have been informed by the service to install the utility 'eco' - done. No results. I was informed by the service don't upgrade to the latest version of the Bios - done, no results. The noise is there in case of station dock, here in the position "charge" and there when it is on battery. I seriously consider to sell and move to the Lenovo or Dell. Anyone has any advice?

    Check thread is: https://forum.toshiba.eu/showthread...-117-noisy-fan
It is more than 1 year... and still no good solution.

  • Tecra R850-520 - noisy fan - no cpu load - Win7 and Win8 64bits

Hello. I got the Tecra R850-520 4 months. from the beginning, I have the same problem - noisy fan but no load cpu (about 2-4%) using win7 and win8 64bits

I tried to change the windows profile to optimize or energy saving. but I still get the fan noise. Set the bios to 3.90. I have re-checked windows 8. and always the pleasure is strong. When no cpu is used.

Notepad is cool - so I don't know where is the problem. It's probably bad driver for ACPI or for measuring the temperature. I tried to change the position of the laptop - and I found two metal plate on the bottom.

I think that it is a measure of temperature sensors. When I flip the laptop, and the plates are "we air ', not touched by any material - the fan will slow down in a few minutes.

Could someone tell if no pleasure of speed will work? or maybe Toshiba updates the bios or drivers for it eventually?

If someone could have some drivers or set which will slow down the fan under 64-bit windows?

    Hello

You can set Windows Power plan settings in order to improve the cooling system.

    Changes in the operating system:
--> Power Options control panel--> change the parameters of plan--> change power avancΘs--> TOSHIBA Power Saver Settings--> cooling method

Changes in the Bios (power management):
    Intel Turbo boost Technology

    Changes in the operating system:
TOSHIBA HW Setup--> the CPU frequency mode

    Try this settings:
Plan (Toshiba power save) optimised battery
Technology Intel Turbo Boost (BIOS) - disable
    The CPU always low frequency

From my experience, this should reduce the noise.

  • Satellite A500-1E4 (PSAR9E) - noisy fan stops is never (BIOS version 1.60)

Hello from the Czech Republic, I have also problem with noisy fan on my new Satellite A500-1E4 (PSAR9E) (i430M, GT330M) on 64-bit Windows 7 over Office Standard - see http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=46719&start=165&tstart=0.

Today I have updated the bios to 1.60 (from 1.20) and there has been no change. When the laptop powered to the top of the adapter in all modes the fan is running at 60-70% (sometimes at 90% - my office is perhaps quieter :-(). What laptop power battery in normal fashion fan and high performance race to 60-70% (loud sound) and in the economy mode to 80% (very noisy). It's crazy that in economic mode produce more noise than mode high performance. The CPU temperature is cca. 37-43 C, GPU 48-57. Fans of course never stops and all it's standart office. No intensive work or games. I can't imagine in games.

Can someone help me please, I'm really helpless. Or this fixes only bios 1.30 and next version not?

    Hey Buddy,

I think that it of really difficult to say why this happens, but in my opinion you should provide more details about your operating system and drivers.
Are you running the Toshiba factory settings or you have installed another OS?
Fan sometimes high activity is due to a different display driver. Have you installed the latest display driver form Toshiba (NOT nvidia)?

Old BIOS versions, you can get an authorized service provider

  • Noisy fan on Satellite M50D - A - 10 L

I bought this Toshiba model recently (2 months) and has started to hear a noise that transmits the sensation of * weight and drag * of the mesma

Quando check the * "PC Health Monitor" * fan status indicates * 'good' * the strange sound comes * 53% * operating conponente the * "PCHealth Monitor. *

I would appreciate help in the future, this problem can be identified.

    Thank you very much.

What exactly do you mean by noisy fan?
Do you mean the fan activity or perhaps the noise that would be created by the defective cooling module?

Fan performance is dependent on cell phone usage.
This means that the cooling module must work more quickly and often in the case where the dissipation of the heat that is created by the GPU and CPU would be longer than simple.

    This is nothing unusual.
Of course, you can try to edit some Windows power management settings to reduce the CPU performance and to reduce the activity of module cooling.
But the fact is the higher temperature, the faster the cooling fans

  • Tecra S2 very noisy fan

I just got my (used to have a S1) S2, but the fan is very noisy. It is noisy it is even annoying me during labor.

I updated the driver in power saving mode and the power to register the software. But een noise remains.

The fan also seems to operate continuously at full speed. Especially when loading the batteries upwards again.

    In battery mode
In battery mode the fan starts, goes to high speed, stops for a short period, starts, going at high speed, stops for a shotr then that implemented site, etc etc this cycle is repeated over and over again. Very annoying.

Why as with the S1 series where the fan seems to work constantly but that at low speed if you do not hear it.

    Mode full power
The fan only is in battery mode back regularly at top and goes down to reduce speed also with regular periods. Why not let the fan turns at average speed?
And as written above when the battery GET fans continue to run at high speed noisy!

Is there an update of the material of possibel with a fan with less noise? Maybe by any other type of fan.

I think to go back to my S1 and sell this S2 as it is very boring school work.

    Hello

As much as I know on some units the fan running normal.
It is normal that the fan make such a noise.
I know that it is possible to run 3rd party tools to let the fan run all the time in slow speed.
I think that you can find in the net.
In addition, you can try to do the BIOS update if one available on download from Toshiba site.
You can find them all on

    http://www.toshiba-tro.de/subpage/BIOS.html

By the way the only way to change some settings of the cooling fan you can find in power management.

    Good luck

    Good bye

  • Noisy fan - fan starts 15 minutes after turning on the Qosmio F10

My Qosmio F10 has always had a very noisy fan. The fan noise starts always 15 minutes after turning the PC on and stays of less regardless of what I do on the PC - even if this happens be nothing else!

I tried to change the battary cooling method optimized in the toshiba saving settings in an attempt to stop the fan coming on but any change of setting seems to have no effect on the fan. I did a search on these forums and found a link to the utility fan - but the link now appears to be dead and someone somewhere else also suggested update but tv pilots who did not work or the other. Anyone have any ideas on how to make this laptop less noisy?

It's all a bit frustrating saw I bought it to listen to music - and all you hear is the fan when the music calms down!

    Thanks in advance

Believe me that it is not unusual that the F10 is a laptop with a high GPU and CPU. These regions produce a lot of heat and it must be cooled!

Please don t compare mobile portable fans with the Qosmio. The Qosmio laptop properties resemble a PC and in my view a desktop PC is much stronger than the F10

  • Satellite A200 - noisy fan and crashing Windows

    Hello

I have Toshiba A200-28 s, bought in the summer 2008 the Russia.
Before, I had a noisy fan, but as I read on the internet, it is common in Toshiba laptops.
But anyway, I tried to Flash the BIOS (update), also for performance and other reasons. 1 week ago
I downloaded the file to update the bios of Toshiba web site drivers. Update went well. Although I realized this fan noise has not changed. So far the fan was ok and I didn't experience any overheating.
Also, I tried to clean the ventilation with vacuum.

Today, when I switched on my laptop, windows started normally and after a while when I started my browser and check e-mails, fan started making really loud and strange noise, like a small hairdryer. And then windows froze. I turned it off directly (pressing and holding the power button / stop). I started again, this time I opened the program to the speed of the fan to check the temperature.

After a while, windows froze and fan started making the same sound. Last I read was 49 C. And before that all happened, I checked the core temperature from time to time, and they were 60 C maximum, average 50-52 c.

Then I started Windows in safe mode. After about 15 minutes, it's the same fan.

Now, I started windows again in safe mode. And the fan noise seems normal. Temperature is 61. I use only the browser. I hope I'll be able to post this thread.

I put t think it's because of the dust. Usually, I check how hot my laptop is, and is usually warm, not hot.

I have the warranty, but I don t want to consider serving because I need it for my thesis. I think that in the service it will take at least 2-3 weeks for them to fix it.

Please help me. Thank you for your time.

    Seymur

    Hello!

First of all, what OS do you have?

In my opinion, the temperatures are normally and don t forget that the fan must sometimes run to cool the CPU. Otherwise, it can be damaged.

If you have Windows XP, you must install the Toshiba Power Saver. With this tool, you can change the speed of the CPU and cooling method
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported Downloads & => Download drivers

In the worst case you have to send it for repair to an authorized service provider, but don t be worry. I have good experience with this because the technicians are very useful and they will be committed to repair your laptop as soon as possible.
My experience is that it takes only 1.5-2 weeks.

    Good bye
