  If you did an upgrade and not a clean install, they must remain on your drive. Do a search of *.jpg, *.jpeg and see what you get. If I remember correctly, you will have a folder windows.old that they appear in. You can use Windows Explorer if you want to look in your records in the Windows.Old directory.

  To skip the activation of sim card, you can use iTunes if you have a CDMA iPhone. However, if you have a GSM model you will need to insert a sim card to activate your iPhone (it can even be used/inactive).   How is formatted the external hard drive? Is the file system on the drive Mac OS extended (journaled) or other system files?  Is the drive directly connected by USB or similar, or is it a SIN?
