Toshiba HD: high early failure rate Toshiba HD

I am in the business of PC support. I had an exceptional number of early failures (but weeks out of warranty) Toshiba laptop 2.5 "drives in laptops model of Pavilion and ENVY. Is there a way to specify the Western Digital drives when the portable with the command computers HP customer support?

Hi, thanks for your information. As mentioned Kant, authorized service providers and Original service providers inform HP on abnormal outages. I am an employee of HP, and I have forwarded your concerns to the quality management team who is in charge of consumer notebooks.

Usually, HP supports laptops a few years after the end of the production and titles their perfomance of quality.

  • Spectrum of HP x 360 13-4100nn: dead touchscreen HP spectrum x 360 - early failure

    Hello

I recently bought a HP spectrum x 360 13-4100nn and after two days the touch screen stops working.

I have tryied all of the recommended patches:

    -updates to drivers, BIOS, OS

-Recovery system + factory reset (http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c02638587)

    -BIOS restore (http://support.hp.com/ee-en/document/c02693833)

    No effect!

In addition, the touch screen does not work in the BIOS, it appears in the Windows Device Manager and HP PC (UEFI) Hardware Diagnostics does not detect all "tactile" to diagnose, then it is not related to the operating system.

So I guess it's an "early failure.

I also mention that drivers up to date (with Assistant HP) at one point, a black window (text mode) appeared and attempted to update a firmware. There was a series of mistakes (something like "step 1...") error, step 2... error, step 3... error..."). in the end, the text became all red and 'Update FAILED... «Press ENTER» Unfortunately has happened very quickly, in a few seconds, and I had no time to learn which component/driver had tried to update. I guess that she had tried to update the display with a wrong (?) firmware. This update has failed happened some time before I detected that the touch screen does not work, that is why I think they might be related.

    What can I do?

Is it possible to restore the original firmware of the screen? Or is the case of real hardware failure?

I hope that a technician will contact me private.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

I intend to use the starter kit OR locking amplifier to detect a harmonic signal of 400 all about. I intend to use the PCI-5105 digitizer (I don't him have not bought until now, but I will soon). The start kit lock, I downloaded and unpacked the files and was hoping to give it a try with an NI USB-6363 however the vi does not open because it says that there are a lot of sub - VI lack (Subvi read.vi I HAVE... clear.vi, etc.). The LockinDemo.vi also seems to use NI 4472 as a default material. Hi Benoit,.

First to start development with LabVIEW Real-time, you can check if your system supports LVRT. You can make use of RT disk utility that will test your system as shown in this article: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/9209361E17708D548625744A007FF353

We have lists of equipment belonging to systems tested here: https://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-10692 and you can always check for the other hardware compatibility here: http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/8239

We do not have a driver available for the PCI of pledge cards but if these cards use VISA calls, you can develop and LVRT recognizes your card by following the KBs:

    (1) acknowledge the third peripheral part with LVRT: http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/3142

    (2) expand LVRT peripheral Driver PCI: http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/3251

    I hope this info helps!

I have a BlackBerry 9780 which I bought from a friend who has improved his own phone.

I would have gone directly to a BlackBerry of any sort of tesco on contract, but the situation at the time made it difficult.

I started my contract with O2/Tesco with a Samsung BlackBerry look-alike.  A few weeks later, I bought a BlackBerry PlayBook and realized that get t as the most out of that I also had to have a BlackBerry phone.  Tesco wouldn't let me exchange the samsung I have been more than a month in contract with another 23 months to go.  Then buy the 9780 at my companion, it was really the only option.  Tesco sorted guys my BlackBerry connection for me - fair play to them, they were superb!

I gave the wife the Samsung!

The 9780 has been great.  I've used it since about January/February of this year.  My companion had sent it to a repair/refurb, (of course, the central navigation button was faulty), before it was sold to me.

I noticed that there is a small area that was black on the screen, it looks a bit like a diagram of rorschash, (it is the best way to describe it).  I happened to be in the other day from Maplin and I showed it to a guy who seems to be very well informed.

He believes that the screen is depixelling or words to that effect.

I need it to last at least 18 months until my contract is in place, and then I'll renew and get another.

What is the best couse of action?

    Hello

as far as I know, the dead pixel or black spots will be little bit greater over a long period of time.

9700 & 9780 are tough phones, is one of the best Blackberry produced, but he has a weakness

that is the screen / lcd screen. Sometimes, it gives you a black spot, dead, blank screen of white or black blankscreen pixel.

the replacement are normally made in China, they have different qualities.

so make sure that if you take it to a local repairman, you are given a minimum of two weeks guarantee

It is only a 2 minute job for replaces it, simply remove the 6 screws and 2 clips

but the problem is that sometimes you do not get a good replacement.

Once I tried 5 screens before I get a good.

and once you use a replacement screen, ready to be replaced again after 4 to 6 months if your unlucky.

  • Second SSD dies after only 13 months

    Hello

I read the topic of the 'death of SSD on Aspire S7' on this forum.

Having posted the following comments on it I thought that I would do better to start a new and share my progress with you.

    ----

I read with interest the previous comments on the early failure rate, but what are the chances to get a reliable drive before the warranty runs out?

I had the SSD on my M5 fail after about 7 months. Acer it replaced under warranty, but it has just failed again one month out of warranty. So 2 doesn't have a SSD in 13 months. Tech support said there is nothing they can do, but take care to have a replacement mounted. This doesn't seem fair to me. Not all happy.

  • URGENT - Data rate "TOO HIGH FAILURE" - BUT this isn't the two videos, it takes 9 subtitles tracks! Help, please!

I'm a standard definition DVD authoring using Encore CS6. I imported two videos high definition (1920 x 1080) (63 min and 4 min.) directly to a calendar. There are 9 subtitles.

I have converted video high-def exactly like these while encoding several times with success. I use this custom setting: Codec: MPEG2 - quality: 5 - VBR 2 pass - Progressive - Min BR: 7.2 - target BR: 8, Max BR: 9 - 23.96 EN matches source. Due to the fact that I used this predetermined dozens of times, I don't think lowering the Min, the target or the Max BR is going to solve the problem of data failure rate.

I am inclined to believe it's 9 subtitles after that review "Data rate too high failure" messages here.

As ALWAYS, I'm on a deadline to customer.

Okay, this preset has always worked in the past, but I would have thought you were pushing things with him.  Subtitles can be the proverbial drop of water!

I had problems in the past with that high bit rates and also during the definition of quality to 5, instead of 4.  For example, I always use 4 quality and will never more than 7 for target BR.  Even with these settings, I had problems earlier this year with a chronology which contained a series of 20 JPEG images - there were always reluctant to the second jpeg, and I had to down to 6.5 before it was OK.

Have you tried a lower BR?

The guarantee to the United States on the Time Capsule is 1 year and 2 years in a number of other countries. Apple will replace the device for you.  If the Capsule is longer under warranty but you have AppleCare implemented on one of your Macs, the time Capsule is still covered in this framework up to 3 years from the date of purchase of the time Capsule.

If the Capsule is not covered, ask Apple to replace the device for you in any case.  If they won't, then unfortunately you yourself, because Apple does not offer repairs or spare parts for the time Capsule. If you are a DIY kind of person, you can open the Capsule and clean the fan or replace the fan. Be extremely careful when you open the time Capsule to shoot components, there are has Ribbon connectors that can easily tear or break if we don't take care.

  • high SPF causes glitching

I was responsible for writing an application for a psychology experiment. I would like to use Flash (for the pleasure of learning technology) but hit a problem.

The experience is to share two or more images very quickly (as fast as every 10 ms/100 fps). I tried to do this two ways, but basically had the images each on their own framework and loop playback. It works fine most of the time, but every few seconds or so it starts to glitch as if the processor or video card is hard to follow.

I know that it is probably a hardware problem, but I was wondering if anyone has any ideas of how I might be able to do this. The application is supposed to be a web application. If we can't do can't do it, but I'm open to any suggestions (including other technologies), and I appreciate the help. Thank you!

You have answered the question yourself: the processor or video card are struggling to follow. A higher rate is not just average more high. You expect the computer to process 100 images per second, as opposed to the default 12 fps frame rate. Note that films are projected at 25 frames per second and North American television at 30 fps. Must you really something faster than that? Returns higher than that rate gives you declined because of the limitations of the computer processor. 100 fps is way beyond the rate of human perception.

Try it at 30 FPS and see if you still have the problem.

  • E - Learning success rate with LMS

This maybe a little off topic for this forum, but with the amount of resources, in the world of e-learning, on this forum, I thought I could get a fair opinion. My question is what is the failure rate during the deployment of a course of e-learning AICC through a learning management system. When I say failure I'm talking not passing or failing the course but the fact that module course commuincate successfully with the LMS passing back 20 or an interaction. I develop training for approximately 2,000 users online. When I put a course I can if expected about 100 people to call me and tell me that they have completed all the training, but the system does not give them credit for the course. I tried to refine the variables that might be cauing the questions but can't cut it down. We have decentralized through the city computers that are connected to our LAN. I looked at how to design training modules work as expected 90 percent of the population, so I'm not sure of what could be the issue. What is an unreasonable expectation to put a title and just hope that it works for everyone who takes it? I had used Lectora in the past and had these problems. I went to Captivate for several reasons and was hoping that this problem could be solved with this product, but I always deal with it. Anyone of you experience? Thanks in advance for comments.

One thing to remember is that more training on the web relies on a somewhat fragile process to do its thing. In the case of Captivate, the process relies on JavaScript and Flash player running in the browser to interact properly with a LMS System.

If something goes wrong, such as the user being too strict browser security settings to allow Javascript to run or don't have a too aggressive firewalls block communication HTTP of the Flash Player, then no result performs validation on the LMS.

There is also the issue of constantly updated browsers updated to correct security vulnerabilities, while the results of Captivate reports code only gets updated once a year, or even not at all.

With the infinite variety of potential problems and browser versions that can be found in the real world, a 5% failure rate seems not so bad (2000/100 = 5%). In this era when Microsoft updates patches half a dozen per month and each company anti-virus under the Sun is trying to push more and more complex "Internet security" software on an uneducated audience, I would be really happy to know that 95% of my users were able to complete the training successfully.

  • Upgrade of the fourth Gen Time Capsule

I have one Capsule 2 TB fourth generation model A1409) and it turned out to be very reliable.  Unfortunately, the installed HARD drive is finally running out of storage space and so I'm looking to upgrade.  I searched the web and found a lot on the Time Capsule hard drive upgrade, but the results are usually on other models and with smaller discs etc..

If possible, I would like to install a reliable 4 TB drive in my fourth Gen T.C. to be used as a primary backup for my MacBook Pro retina and my machine to Windows 10 ASUS T300 CHI 2-in-1.

Are 4 TB of HARD drive is compatible with the fourth Gen Time Capsule?  And someone has nested together that they can recommend please?

I keep reading that the Hitachi drives are the best players generally ultra low failure rate, but all Hitachi drives seem to be 7200 rpm disks and I have also read that drives to 5400 RPM 'Green' are the best for the time Capsule as they run cooler and consume less energy?

I also read that drives Apple used to use the Hitachi drives but now sometimes use Wester Digital Caviar Green, who seem to have fail decently low too, although not as good as Hitachi?

If I install a reliable 4 TB of HARD drive, I'll be very happy.

    Thank you

4 TB hitachi (but they belong no longer to hitachi, it is now divided between Toshiba and WD) are a green car. IE 5400 RPM.

But the 4 TB WD Green are very good readers. These are now available in sizes up to 6 TB... Although I'd stick to 4 TB because it's as much data as you want to lose in a go. One of these drives work ok in the TC.

Remember that all drives fail eventually. If you use the TC for something else that backups... also use a secondary backup as well.

Also, Windows is not super great on a TC... It reads the disks in FAT32 and have 4 GB file limits. It is too slow... much more slow than buying a good NAS drive, or an external drive that can be in NTFS format.

The drive used in the Gen4 is a WD Green. If it worked very well for now... That's already 3-4years or more, then it should be ok.

Note the Gen4 may die suddenly... do not think that will happen if the real TC gives out.

  • Satellite M105-SP381: short battery life - 01:50 mins

    Hi guys,.

I have a Satellite M105 and I think that Im not getting good battery life out of it. I have had the machine for 1 month and I can barely 01:50 mins on drums, with a minimum brightness and wifi, just surf the web and listen to mp3s. What is the performance expected for this type of machine?

It has a 1.8 Core Duo, 1 GB RAM, 80 gb HD, ATI x 1300 14 "of clues? I use the watch system to "long term" Toshiba application. My battery was unaffected by the action of voluntary exchange of Toshiba.

    Thank you

    HI Juan,

Different parts of the book will use you the power at higher or lower rates. Any component with a mechanical action (your hard drive, optical drive, floppy drive, etc.) use generally a little more power than the CPU, RAM etc.

The effect is to drain the battery faster if the hard drive or optical drive is used. So, generally, is expected to get more autonomy if you use an application such as Word or Excel where there is minimum hard disk activity unless you're constantly saving or loading documents.

In your case, playback of MP3 files will constantly have to load data from the drive hard (although cached to reduce the number of access) while you browsing the internet is constantly written pages in your Temporary Internet folder (as well as access to your anti-virus database). All this activity hard drive means that the hard drive is never allowed to turn down and therefore do not have to use the power of the battery.

As long as you follow the usual recommendations to optimize your battery (let it fully discharge from time to time) I think that the time you get really is reasonable for the type of activity that you do.

    Kind regards

Every time the same LAGS in 2-3 seconds the pace will for example of 50 fps to 20 fps, even once at 50 fps every 2-3 sec and so on, it is impossible to play well even if I put the game graphically at the lowest end of 20 to 45 minutes the same delay.

With the cpu - Z tool, I see that the CPU turns on Office on 1000 MHz, and when he needs
power, he goes to 1666 MHz but if only a second cpu do nothing, he defined to 1000 MHz.

On the one hand it is overheating protection and saving energy, but on the other hand, it makes no sense to game of doesn t. In the game, I run a little bit, the cpu gives full data speed, slowing down at full speed lag... Slows down the LAG full speed... and so on, he's crazy!

I can't find any control panel to adjust it. And to set energy vista setting effective performance do nothing. I read that the core 2 duo are normally stay cool extreme, but sometimes there is deep into the CPU before a second witch high heat-maximum rates are caught from the cooling. I put t now if that's the problem but I often recognized that the cpu fan for no reason, just give a second, fullspeed that slow down!

I can understand that Toshiba engineers are trying to give a freshness and energy efficient long life for the material, but I could by a professional laptop fore 799,-euros and not this. A system with these hardware settings must be able to give full power without overheating any time.

    I hope it's just a driver issue, but I n t think so.
