Toshiba NB550 wake up the Suspend to Ram

Hello world

I don't know what to do. I got the NB550D and installed Ubuntu 11.10 on it. I am really satisfied with the machine, but when I do a suspend to ram, the netbook will not wake up. I had a black screen, her are lit, but no reaction on the buttons or ALT + PRINT + rseinub. I realized that the fglrx driver is not the problem, because the problem exists even when I start from the console, or use the default driver.
I also tried uswsusp and debug pm - suspend with pm-trace, but the only thing I had was a match in main.c.

I don't really know where to look for the problem. When I put it to sleep and wake it immedially it works, but when the NB sleeps about minutes it crashes.

Please help me, I'm going nuts!

Thank you

welcome them

Hello

It seems really odd that you get different when results suspends to Ram a bit of time compared to the suspension for a longer time than Ram.
Are you certain that time is really a factor and that other reasons are not the cause?

I mean, let's say you have 10 suspend-to-RAM with 5 seconds of suspeded State - the unit perfectly awake all those 10 times?
And if you did the same and allow the unit to be suspended 5 minutes - it will fail 10 out of 10 times?

If the symptoms are the outcome, I suggest you

1: Make sure you are up-to-date with all packages and use a "clean" installation
2: Make sure you've got the latest BIOS
3: If you have the latest BIOS and are updated and clean, fill a bug Ubuntu Bugzilla report.

  • Toshiba NB550-111 - no connection if the LAN cable is more than 2 metres

    Hello

My newly purchased Toshiba NB550-111(Windows 7 Starter Service Pack 1) has problems with the LAN card.
If the LAN cable is more than 2 meters, no relation to Allied Telesyn switch (no indicator led on the switch, 2 other desktop computers already connected). I tried not to connect in a different port (one used previously by one of desktop computers), no connection. I tried with 3 cables, still no results.

Cables (cat5E, so important) have been tested OK before with a cable Tester, and I use both of them without any problem with another 2 desktop computers at home. I set another cable (5 m long, newly purchased) and tested for connectivity. It works very well with the other two offices, no results with the netbook. I tried with adapter it works, I disabled ' energy efficient ethernet "NIC, still no connection properties page. It only connects if the cable is less than 2 meters. I tried to connect the netbook directly to the DSL router, still no connection with a longer cable.

The device is reported by windows as work very well, and the test Toshiba utility ends there is no problem. Windows I configured in the Control Panel, the Plan balanced for maximum performance in the power options, still no results.
    Any ideas, please?

Now maybe stupid question but what is with WLAN? You don t want to use WLAN?

  • X121e - black screen after waking up from suspend-to-RAM

I am the owner of a X121e ThinkPad - Notebook Type 3051-5QG (processor of AMD E350). After a BIOS - update 1.07 to 1.16 I had a problem to wake up from the S3 - suspend to RAM function.

Restarting the laptop and the fan works but there is no beep and the screen remains black. There is no way to operate except a complete hard stop by pushing the button on/off voltage.

Someone knows the problem and has a solution? Or should I wait and hope for the next Version of the BIOS solve the problem? I would come down to 1.07 BIOS, but I'm afraid that this is not possible.

    Since 02-12-2012 Lenovo has released a new Bios-Version 1.17.

I installed the update today and the problem disappeared. I hope that there are no new bugs in this Version of the Bios, but so far, everything seems to work fine.

  • Satellite Z930 - after the update of the BIOS, additional RAM no longer works

I bought my Z930 Satellite in August and installed 2 GB of additional RAM in it. Worked well, the Ultrabook detected and had total 6 GB of RAM.
Yesterday, I stopped ignoring these messages from Toshiba Tempro and installed the BIOS update suggested that Bios 2.20 (not sure what version it was before). Now, I have several problems:

    * First *, my Ultrabook no longer starts with the extra RAM. I press the power button and then the power light flashes: yellow 2 times 1 times orange loop. The screen stays black and the CPU fan starts at the maximum level... Only when I remove the extra RAM, then it boots.

    * Second problem *, without my extra RAM, it starts, but sometimes with the fan from the CPU to the maximum level. I so restart it stops.

    * Third problem *, Windows doesn't detect only 2 GB of RAM. I have now no extra RAM mounted, it should detect the 4 GB of RAM, as when I bought it. Now, there are only 2 GB...

So this is what happens when I install the proposed updates? -.-
So, what can I do now? At least, I want my preinstalled 4 GB of RAm back. Is there a BIOS downgrade, or something similar to undo changes?

    Thanks for the final suggestions!

  • Satellite A500 - 19 X - which is the maximum supported RAM?

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite A500 - 19 X with Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium edition. It came with 4 GB DDR3 1066 MHZ RAM. Can anyone let me know the maximum supported RAM for this hardware configuration and OS.

    Kind regards

    Hey Buddy,

You can answer this question yourself!

I checked the specifications of this laptop on the Toshiba site and you can upgrade the RAM 8 GB. Therefore, you (1 066 MHz) DDR3 RAM and two 4 GB modules. They should be the same manufacturing to avoid problems of incompatibility.

  • Help with the driver DvD Ram for satellite P10

On my laptop (satellite p10) is Windows 2000 Professional running, but the driver DVD Ram of the Toshiba Homepage does not...
Where can I get a driver that works on my laptop?

    Hi Val,

The correct driver for your laptop running Wnidows 2000 should be version 3.0.8.0 and is available for download from the Web from Toshiba website.

I presume that it is the one that you tried, so I don't know what you mean when you say that "it doesn't."

  • The SSD and RAM upgrade

I have the 13-inch Retina Display early 2015 model. It contains 128 GB SSD and 8 GB of RAM.

I wanted to update both of them. Is this possible? I agree with HARD drive even if that is supported. 128 GB is not enough for me actually.

    Help, please.

Without the SSD and RAM are both not upgradable.

One option is to sell your computer and use the money to buy a new one with the features you need.

There are two options to add an HD card to your card HD slot. Both options will be flush with the case.

    Hello

Many users think that the pre-installed tools are not necessary: it's fake
Laptops are not desktop PC. Many portable computers of new generation supports additional features, which must be controlled by software!

-VAP (value added package), utility of flash media Cards are needed to control the FN keys.
-Toshiba recovery disc creator is necessary to create the own recovery disk!
-Toshiba eco utility control the energy consumption of the laptop and helps you extend the battery work!
-Facial recognition Toshiba is necessary to get the face recognition to work... This feature allows windows to connect with the image of the face

    - and so on...

As you see it s not bloatware, but really important means of course if you don t want to use these functions for portable computer, you can remove this

  • Toshiba 5200-903: show the lightness

    Hallo

My English is not very good, and I hope that you will understand me.

First, I'll tell you a few basic details of my system:
    Material: Toshiba S5200-903
    OS: Debian Linux Kernel 2.6.15 - 1-686

The light of my screen with linux is very "dark". When I use Windows, I can change the intensity light [FN] + [F6] or [FN] + [F7].

How can I use this future in Debian Linux?

    Thank you - benny

    Hello

Well, the problem is that Toshiba doesn't support Linux and don t design all the drivers for linux.
The fact is that to use Toshiba additional features like the FN keys, you need a driver in particular. But as I suggested at the outset, that there is no drivers for Linux. In this case, it of not possible to use this function.

  • Re: Driver and Toshiba tool support once the Satellite has been interrupted

    Hi all

I bought a Tosh laptop about a year ago and I like to keep programs and services up-to-date.
When I visited the site the other day, I noticed that my laptop model is now discontinued... someone else in the family just got a new laptop Tosh and I noticed lots of Toshiba Basic programs and services are much more recent than mine.

No one knows how long we receive updates for? End of warranty? End of production?
I downloaded Tosh a similar, more recent programs and they work just fine - I don't know why my previous updaters of Tosh software does not give them to me. Of course, some newer models will have some new features that are not compatible with mine.

Everyone has noticed this on their laptop?
Very quickly after the purchase, the support of software dries...

I attended the launch of Windows 7 and received a ultimate disc that is just lying there.
I think of "slipstreaming" latest updates in it, and I notice that I can add a new driver updates. I'm starting to think the software of my laptop has reached the end of the line for the backup and restore - slipstreaming a Windows disk at retail with the newer programs of Toshiba and drivers maybe better for future reinstallation. What other users think / do?

    Thank you

    Hello

You can always download the drivers, tools and utilities for Toshiba laptops even if the laptop is no longer available on the market.
Even drivers for the very old computers Toshiba notebook are read by download.

You should consult the European driver of Toshiba page and select Archive type of product in the first category.
Drivers for older series of portable computers are moved to the Archive and you can find.

    Welcome them
