TrackPoint cap

I don't know if this is the place I'm supposed to do this post.

I hate the trackpoint when I type.  I type pretty fast and I hit the trackpoint once from time to time - but it's enough to really annoy me.  It's absolutely entertaining.  Imagine typing your thoughts then all of a sudden you hit the thing, distraction, then irritated and thoughts past.  ThinkPads are supposed to help you think.  Unfortunately, the trackpoint does not...

Is there a replacement advice which has fairly depressed (and possibly black...) so that I have accidentally hit when I type?  Remove the end works well - but it is so ugly without it (makes it look like I'm using a broken hardware).

Oh and I don't mind if spare CAP will render unusable trackpoint.  I need just low enough so that I have accidentally hit.

The classic type must be low enough for you - and once you've broken the point it's just a dome of rubber anyway. The standard also does not overlap keys as do the fedoras.

In addition, pressing Fn + F8 and choosing "Settings" > UltraNav > TrackPoint settings and move the slider on the sensitivity of the TrackPoint all the way to 'Company Touch' you should be able to push once or twice and should not going very far (but then again, it is difficult to use the TrackPoint like that because it moves very slowly).

  • Soft Rim TrackPoint Cap leave trace on T400 screen

My original TrackPoint on my T400 wore out after almost two years of intensive use. Since it is now necessary to buy the Collection of TrackPoint, I did and decided to try the Soft Cap of TrackPoint Rim. Now there is a mark on the screen of the use of the TrackPoint Cap. It is a design defect? I don't have any problem with the cap of TrackPoint flexible dome supplied with the machine.

My T400 did not have this problem with the rim sweet trackpoint Cap... but it will be a problem if you press on the lid of the machine all the time. Usually, I put a piece of white paper between the keyboard and screen to prevent these brands.

  • Substitute the Trackpoint Cap why replacements don't have the black plastic piece? T420

So I feel like my trackpoint began to wear on my T420 and I went to replace it today with the similar CAP of the Collection of Cape of Trackpoint (73P 2698) I ordered with my machine. When I took off my hat, I was surprised to see that there is a piece of black plastic attached to the underside of the CAP. None of the caps in the collection have this plastic piece, and I seem to be unable to remove it from the CAP. Without the black plastic piece, corks do not seem to fit properly.

    Someone at - it ideas?

just take this black plastic of the old CAP and reassemble the back, then put in your new trackpoint. The stick plastic you saw does not go out like that, but you can put everything back in place.

  • T61 model 7662 lack a screw

    Hello

I bought a new T61 7662 model last week and it came with a screw. The screw under the DVD Rom is missing. I can see the son of brass inside the empty location. But the screw is missing. It is noraml? Or a flop in mfg line? I bought another T61 in April 2008. I checked it now and it also lacks the same screw just right under the DVD Rom.

    ramspc, welcome to the forum,

correct screw is not mounted at the factory, have a look in the box in which it came. With a small bag with spare TrackPoint CAP there should be a small bag with two screws in there. One is for the optical drive, fat runs, to prevent the reader is hot-swapped. The other is to replace the screw in the hard drive with a hex head instead of a cross-head.

  • T42 docking station problem

    Hi all.

Having this weird problem with one of T42 our workers. Whenever she connects her T42 in a docking station and close the lid of the laptop, mouse starts to moves around, no emails can be selected in outlook, no option to restart the computer (start-> stop brings to the top of the dialog box, but cannot select anything from there.)

She tried an another dock, but no difference, the same problems.

    You have any ideas?

    Thanks in advance

    Lullaby, welcome to the forum,

    A few suggestions to try;

    (1) replace the TrackPoint cap with the traditional "furry" dome has a profile below.

    (2) remove the cap of Trackpoint all together

    (3) make sure that the keyboard is installed, disassembly and assembly instructions can be found here (you can try perhaps also bend the keyboard a bit if remove you it)

    (4) turn off the Trackpoint using the UltraNav utility or in the BIOS

As you can probably guess, I think that your problem maybe the Trackpoint is in contact with the screen when closed.

    Hope this helps

So I can not use time machine to go back and recovery of Mac OS allows you to use MacOS even w / drive bootable El Cap in. Is it possible to use a partition and do? Already wiped the HD so it's not a matter of concern. Thank you!

    1. The recovery of Internet startup by pressing Option + command (⌘) r immediately after start-up or that you restart your Mac. Release the keys when you see the Apple logo. Start-up is finished when you see the utility window.
    2. Open utility drive in the Utilities window, then use disk utility to erase your hard disk using the Mac OS extended (journaled) format. Quit disk utility when done.
    3. Choose Reinstall macOS (or reinstall OS X) in the utility window, and then follow the instructions on the screen.
This installs the system provided with your Mac, when it was new.

  • Configuration of caps lock no longer works

    Hello

After that the upgrade to Mac OS Sierra is not possible to turn off the caps lock.

Lock shift will continue to work either by selecting 'No Action' for the caps lock setting in system preferences > keyboard > modifier keys.

    Difficulty please!

    See you soon,.

    Giampaolo

    Hi, manchoz!

Thank you for using communities Support from Apple. I understand from your post, that caps lock shift to 'No Action' in system preferences has in fact an effect; You can always activate the caps lock shift key after changing the setting. I know it may be practical to adjust how the key functions and would be happy to help you!

I have a few things I can recommend for you to try. Test by changing the caps to no Action lock after each step.

    1. Restart the Mac by clicking on the menu Apple  and selecting restart... in the drop-down menu.
    2. If possible, test how the caps lock functions on another keyboard (USB or Bluetooth).
    3. Start in safe mode and try to change the modifier of Caps Lock on. The following article will give you more information about safe mode and start it: try safe mode if your Mac does not start-up

Even if the title of the article is not specific to your question, safe mode is always a good step to take. She will run a scan of your system at startup and disable some software and processes that may be causing a conflict.

    4. Test the caps lock modifier in a different user account. This article will explain why test in another user account is a useful step and will also guide you in creating a new account: How to test a question in another account on your Mac user

For more information, see the following: macOS Sierra: change the modifier keys

    See you soon!

  • El Cap attempts to restart

For the last three days, when I wake my Mac Pro 2009 El Cap running, he is waiting for me to select a user and connect, if I left it unattended for a few hours or more.  I'm not what I could do to fix this problem, other than trying to install Sierra.  I discovered that the equipment is too old for sierra, however.

  • Change the source of entry with the Caps Lock key does not

It should be possible to change the input source with the Caps Lock key on macOS Sierra.

and I checked "Toggle ABC of input source with caps lock shift" in system preferences > keyboard > input Source.

However, it does not lock shift still only works as long as CapsLock

I tried to reboot, reset the keyboard shortcuts, deactivation of Siri, reset NVRAM and reset the SMC, but still does not.

I use only the default input source and have not installed and related programs to the keyboard or input source.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks in advance.

    Greetings slwsbl!

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

I see that you want to change the input source with the SHIFT key on macOS Sierra. I understand the importance of wanting to use a specific key when changing inputs. I'm happy to help you with this.

It is possible to do. Please take a look at the User Guide helps Mac, specifically, this section:

    Switch between input sources

To switch between input sources, do one of the following:

    • Use the menu entry: Click on the menu entry in the menu bar, and then choose the input source. If an input source is dimmed, the current application does not support it.

    • Use the Caps Lock key: Press the caps lock shift key to switch between a non-Latin input (such as the Chinese or Korean) source and an input source Latin (for example, French or English).

To use this method, you must select the option "use Caps Lock to toggle to and from" in the stream of input methods. Choose the Apple menu > System Preferences, click keyboard, and then click input methods.

    • Use keyboard shortcuts: Press control-Option-space bar to select the source of the following entry in the menu entry, or control-space to select the previous input source.

    Best regards.

  • CAPS LOCK FREEZES MAC MACOS SIERRA

I HAVE TO WRITE IN CAPITAL LETTERS BECAUSE OF A PROBLEM IN MAC OS SIERRA.

SINCE THE INSTALLATION OF MACOS SIERRA YESTERDAY, I HAD STRANGE PROBLEMS WITH THE MY BLUETOOTH KEYBOARD SHIFT KEY.

WHEN YOU USE MY MAC YESTERDAY I HAD A FREEZE ON ALL OF THE SYSTEM WHEN YOU TURN ON CAPS LOCK THIS INCLUDES ENTRANCE TO VIDEO PLAYBACK, KEYBOARD AND MOUSE (HE'D CATCH UP AFTER A FEW SECONDS, BUT THE LETTERS YOU ENTERED NOT APPEAR OUT IN THE RIGHT ORDER, SUGGESTING IS NOT ONLY A DISPLAY PROBLEM, BUT A REAL FREEZE) THEN THERE ARE MORE SMALL FREEZES AND BLIPS AS LONG AS CAPSLOCK SHIFT WAS.

TODAY, HOWEVER, I AM HAVING THE OPPOSITE TO HAPPEN. FROST OCCUR WHILE CAPS LOCK IS OFF, WHICH IS SIGNIFICANTLY MORE EMBARRASSING AS ALL LOOKS LIKE I'M YELLING!
