transfer files to a Macbook Pro

Please bear with me. I'm not fine with a PC. I transferred my files from my Windows Vista PC to my new Macbook Pro lap top about a year using the Windows Wizard. The transfer was successful, however, I have not used my new Macbook Pro. I don't know, a mistake on my part I continued using my Windows PC. Now, a year later, my Windows PC is on its last leg and I want to start using my Macbook Pro 'new '. The question I have is, can I use the Windows wizard again to transfer files, I added to my Windows PC since my last file transfer to my Macbook Pro a year ago?

A friend told me that I should consider resetting my Macbook Pro back to factory settings and then start the transfer of Windows as a new transfer. Should I do this?  Can I use the Windows Easy Transfer Wizard again to transfer my files and does not duplicate files that have already been transferred?  As you can tell, I am lost and need help. Thank you for your help.

I use a USB flash drive or a backup hard drive to the "exfat" format, which can be read by Microsoft windows and OS - X.

I copy all my files on the backup disk.

This way I will always have a copy of my files on a storage disk that I can use with my Mac or PC.

That way if I ever need to do a reinstall on my Mac or my PC I always get my files from a backup flash drive.

Or better yet, just use a USB fixed your PC/Mac to the format exfat as disk storage for all your personal files.

I use this one.

If the time Capsule currently is the repository for your Time Machine backup it is strongly recommended that your data not be not stored here also. If you store your data on the Time Capsule that will make it difficult, if not impossible for Time Machine clear disk space when he needs to do when space is low. In addition to your data bank on the same disk as the backup cannot be saved.

You can connect otherwise?  USB or FireWire or love at first sight?  You can connect both machines and start the one you want to transfer to target disk mode.  If your other machine is up and running with an account on it and you just want to move files, you can simply drag and drop the FRO the machine mounted TDM, or you can use the migration wizard.

Or, if the other machine still starts and runs, you can start both computers and connect to the same wifi network and share the hard drive like machines on the network.  Access them in the finder on the new machine files and drag-and - drop, or use the wizard migration, on wifi.

Please I need to find a way to transfer my phone is completely full on storage and I want to make my photos are saved on my macbook, but also from a flash drive. Thank you.

Where are your photos on your Mac?

If the photos are in an iPhoto library, select all the photos in the library and use "file > export" to write the pictures in a folder on your USB.  Or select the iPhoto library in your pictures folder, and then drag it to your USB.

  • How can I transfer files of e-mail from my mac pro to my mac air

Hi all someone can help me ive been trying to transfer files from my Macbook Pro to my Macbook Air e-mail, I have tried dragging to usb sticks, nothing seems to work any help would be appreciated cheers

    Hi Dizzycrow,

I understand that you want to move some folders of email to your MacBook Pro to your MacBook Air. I know it's important to have control over your data, so I'm happy to provide assistance with this.

The best way to transfer multiple files between devices is often through the Migration Wizard. That being said, this feature can roll over more files that you want to. You can read more here:

Move your content to a new Mac - Apple Support

For transfer only your email address, it may be better to export your mailboxes from your MacBook Pro, so that you can import to your MacBook Air. You can see how to do this here:

Address postal (El Capitan): import or export the mailboxes

Thank you for using communities of Apple support and have a great rest of your day. See you soon!

  • Is my 2011 macbook pro the neck of the bottle in my LAN slow transfer speed?

    Hello

I have a macbook pro 2011 and I recently bought a buffalo LS 520 NAS, but when you try to transfer data through my wifi network that speeds are painfully slowly.

    WiFi area speeds as follows:

    Upload: 0,6906480 MB/s

    DOWNLOAD: 6,2196480 Mbit/s

And here's the transfer speeds for the macbook pro on the NAS directly connected via ethernet

    Upload: 62,689 Mbps

    Download: 796.3651920

    I have a Sky Home Hub router 2013 (144Mbps and 2.4 GHz)

I think that the might of bottleneck the NIC in my macbook pro, but I am not sure. Even if that were the case, the speeds above seem very slow. I am planning to buy a new router to see if that improves things, but will it be useless if the speed is dictated by my macbook?

    You need a router more...

Especially if you want to use wifi for transferring files you need in 5 GHz... so I don't spend much time worrying about this.

Get a new router... you can plug into the hub of the sky... It should be wireless AC so it may be a new extreme Apple or it can be a dozen different brands... all that is readily available and reasonable price... but I highly recommend types AC1900 like Netgear R7000, Asus RT-AC68U or C9 of TP-Link.

Once you have plugged it in the WAP configuration / Skyhub mode (bridge on the extreme) we can establish if there are still questions what is happening.

Your 10 x difference in upload and download speed makes no sense. Which affects both wireless and ethernet. The difference in speed of reading and writing on a NAS is double at most.

But I do not pretend do you a test, ethernet jack directly to the Buffalo and implemented with the static IP as well as your laptop... and then try it... view results... because if these figures are also very strange, then there is a problem with the buffalo...

It is very important that you her mount smb in El Capitan... the question is something you need to post in the area of the BONE...

  • I currently use CS5 on an old Macbook leopard os but want to transfer on a Macbook Pro

Currently, I use CS5 on an old Macbook leopard os but want to transfer on a new Macbook Pro Maverick os. Is this possible?

    Hi phillipadam2,

Yes, you can transfer the licnese of old Macbook to the newest one.

Launch of the CS5 applications, go to the "help" menu and select "disable."

    (KB to consult: http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activation-deactivation-products.html)

On the new machine, you can download and install CS5 and activate it using the serial number purchased.

You can download Cs5 of: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-product-downloads.html

Note: CS5 has not been tested on Mac Mavericks and you could face problems of compatibility with it.

  • After that I immigrated from macbook pro, iMac, I can't open the project

I tried to open projects in the external hard drive with the new iMac.  Some of the film clip was't it.  So I moved all my files from the MacBook Pro, iMac and tried again to open the project.  Then error message informs you that the file is used by another account and cannot open.

The account was my account until I immigrated.

    Help, please!

There may be problems with some file permissions.

Around that, the simplest method is to set the "Ignore ownership on this Volume" checkbox

-Select the external hard drive in the Finder

-Press command-I to open the read window information

-If necessary, click the lock and enter your password

-Check the box that says "ignore ownership on this Volume".

  • MacBook Pro continues to try to connect to an unknown server when I open Adobe Reader

I seem to have a file on my MacBook Pro (15 ", in early 2011, OS 10.10.4) who tries to connect to an external server.  I do not know what is the file and do not know what is the server.  What happens, is that every 10 minutes, I get a pop up saying 'there was a problem connecting to the server "n22865.freese.com". The server does not exist or is not available at this time. Check your server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again. »

I tried to go to the freese.com, and it is a kind of society of sustainable development.  Never, I went on the site before researching this pop up.  I called Apple, and support after a maddening, the best they could come up with is that at some point given, I downloaded a file associated with the site and its server and it tries to connect.  I was told that it is harmless.  Perhaps, but it is so boring to have to clear the dialog box every 10 minutes.  I searched for the files containing "freese" but no luck.  I did several troubleshooting steps as suggested on the Apple support forums and have been able to reduce the error does not happen when I open Adobe Reader (version 11.0.13).  If I restart my computer, I don't get the popup until I open a file in the drive.  Anyone has idea how to find out what may be trying to connect and get rid of it?

    Hi sweettea1193,

Uninstall the reader XI & install the latest Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Adobe - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Distribution, check if the problem persists.

  • Best for PC to Macbook Pro Ethernet adapter to transfer files

    Hello

I was looking for a straight answer to this question. I am a new Mac user (Woo hoo) and I need to transfer my files from a PC to my new Macbook pro. Which is the best ethernet adapter (if this is important) do so... a USB adapter or the adapter thunderbolt?

I thought I read that love at first sight was the fastest, but then I read that I might have a question of transfer to a PC.

    Thanks in advance!

The best ethernet adapter's ethernet cable connecting ports ethernet on both computers.

There is no need to bother with love at first sight or USB to do this.
