Transfer of operating system on new disc

I have a processor dual-core Gateway 2.0 GigaHz.  The hard disk starts to become flaky.  Bought a new hard drive, 500 GB of Seagate 7200 RPM.  Seagate utility had a Clone your automatic diaphragm.  I copied the old drive to the new and the system boots Ok on the new drive and most of the programs I checked working BUT when I try to update microsoft site or install new programs, I get a message that Windows install is not available.  What should I do to get Vista Home Premium fully functional omn the new drive before the old ENP dies completely?

Hello

Microsoft Windows Installer files on the hard disk are missing or damaged or the Windows Installer service is not running, or it has been disabled.

Restart Windows Setup.

a. Click Start, type net stop msiserver in the search box and press ENTER.

B.Click Start, type net start msiserver in the search box and press ENTER.

Make sure that the Windows Installer is not disabled if group policy.

a. Click Start, type gpedit.msc in the search box and press ENTER to open the Group Policy object editor.

b. click on Computer Configuration, administrative templates, click Windows components and then click Windows Installer.

c. double-click Disable Windows Installer on the right side.

d. make sure that the configured or disabled option is selected.

Determine the location of the Windows Installer files on your computer.

Important: this step contains information about editing the registry. Before you edit the registry, make sure to save and make sure you understand how to restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up, restore, and modify the registry, click the following link to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: http://support.microsoft.com/kb256986

WARNING
If you use the registry properly, editor you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft does not guarantee that you can solve problems that result from the use of the Publisher of the registry incorrectly. Use the Publisher of the registry at your own risk.

Locate the Msiexec.exe hard disk file.

1. click on start and then click search.

2. click on all files and folders.

3. in the file name box, type msiexec.exe, and then click search.

4. record the location of the Msiexec.exe file is listed in the search results.

The location of the Msiexec.exe file will be similar to the location in the following example. In the example, drive is the drive where Microsoft Windows is installed and %Windir%\System32 is the name of the folder in which Windows is installed:

drive: \%Windir%\System32

5. close the search window.

Check that the location of the Msiexec.exe in the Windows registry file matches the location of the Msiexec.exe file on the hard drive. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, type regedit in the search box and press ENTER.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on allow.

2. in the left pane, click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, SYSTEM, CurrentControlSet Services and then click MSIServer.

3. in the right pane, double-click ImagePath.

4. in the dialog box change channels, make sure that the string in the value box contains the correct path of the Msiexec.exe file on the hard drive. This is the way that you saved in step a, a - c. For example, if the Msiexec.exe file is located in the drive: \Windows\System32 hard disk, the correct path of the Msiexec.exe in the zone data file of value is the following path:

drive: \Windows\System32\Msiexec.exe/v

Note in this path, drive is the drive where Windows is installed. The "/v" at the end of the path is a parameter required by Windows Installer. Do not delete it.

5. If the value box does not contain the correct path, type the correct path in the box, and then click OK.

Note: Add "/v" to the end of the path, as shown in the previous step.

6. close the registry.

Re-register Windows install.

a.Click Start, type %windir%\system32\msiexec / unregserver in the search box, then press ENTER.

b.Type %windir%\system32\msiexec/REGSERVER, and then press ENTER.

  • How can I transfer the operating system on the new HARD drive?

Toshiba Satellite C850D-11F, Windows 8.1. Out of warranty

The hard drive is no longer achievable and will have been checked and declared "Kaput". I can get my hands on a fresh drive. But how to save the operating system that came with the laptop. Toshiba provides a free license? Is it possible that the licence can be transferred. I have the serial number etc. on the sticker on the back of the laptop.

I assume that you did not create recovery media, right?

  • Transfer picture windows system to new computer failure of my original material. I'll have to legal?

    Nice day.
I want to make a clone of the (c :) drive Reader of my current computer using a program called "EaseUS Todo Backup" if my current computer stops a day, that I want to install this image on a new computer. This software allows an image must be installed on another computer with different hardware etc. Anyone has experience with this. Will I have problems with the license. Can I use the license to the new computer or old, or if I have to buy another license. Would be nice if there is someone out there who actually did this.
    Thank you, Jim.

I use Todo Backup to reimage computers and I have to fix each time of installation. It has an option called a sector-by-sector backup who could make it bootable when you create the image and restore it on another computer, but it is not guaranteed, it will work, in order to prepare to re - install Windows 7 if necessary.

With respect to the transfer of the license, you can transfer them to another computer if its full version or upgrade retail license. The computer to which you are transferring the upgraded version must have a license of previous qualifying installed such as Windows XP or Vista or even Windows 7.

If the copy of Windows 7 you are trying to image came pre-loaded on your computer, the answer is no, you will need to purchase a new license. It's called an OEM license:

The OEM of Windows 7 versions are identical to the versions commercial full license with the following exception:

-OEM versions don't offer any free direct support from Microsoft technical support Microsoft

-OEM Licenses are tied to the computer first you install and activate it on

-OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard

-OEM versions does not move directly from an older Windows operating system

Is it possible to use the recovery CD to reinstall the operating system on a new drive or is the info stored on a partition on my original CD?

    Thank you

    Hello

The use of the Toshiba Recovery CD will set the laptop back to the factory settings.
The image of Toshiba which is placed on the restore CD contains all the drivers, tools, and utilities that were preinstall on the laptop.

Don t worry. You can replace the HARD drive and then just boot from the recovery CD.
This procedure will install the operating system and all the necessary applications and you will get the complete functional unit. ;)

  • Switch to a new operating system means new purchase of Photoshop?

I bought Photoshop CS6 extended in 2012 to my Windows operating system then. It is currently stored on a desktop computer and on my laptop. Recently, I opened my aging laptop to discover that the screen has been seriously damaged, leaving only a few inches of the visible area. Instead of pouring money into a patch of the screen for an old laptop, I took the step and bought a new Macbook.

Adobe offers any form of credit for those of us who have changed operating system and want to keep access to their Adobe products? Or do I have to buy a new subscription plan after I already paid full price for the product?

I think that CS6 is still eligible for an exchange of product however, you must renounce your old version of Windows & serial number to get it.

CS6 is old software.  It is no longer supported and will never ever receive updates.

On the other hand if you join the plan of creative cloud, you can run on Win/Mac or both (up to 2 installs at the same time).  In addition, software CC is updated / upgrade 2 - 3 times a year in order to always access the most recent version.  If you're a Photoshop power user, this is the best option.

So I have a 2 TB HDD and I want to transfer windows 7 to a 500 GB SSD, I have no idea where to start. I have a 64 bit windows 7 Home premium and the ID sticker on my computer, but also a disc for windows 7 64 bit edition Home premium. I want to know if I can re install the new drive hard, but from my understanding, my windows 7 is activated in my old hard drive and I have to turn it off. I'm not sure how to disable the copy of windows on my computer and could use a step by step type, if anyone can help I would be very grateful!

As you transfer to a different storage device that is used in the same system unit, pass just to reinstall using your disc to reinstall and re-enable it if necessary by telephone:

    1) click Start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4

    (2) press the ENTER"" key.

    (3) select your "country" in the list.

    (4) choose the option "activate phone".

    (5) stay on the phone (do not select/press all options) and wait for a person to help you with the activation.

  • How have the guest OS disk cleaning disc space come on for the host operating system hard drive?

    People,

Hello. I use VM Player 3. The OS is Windows 7. Guset OS is Windows Server 2003.

Because the host OS Windows 7 C drive is nearly full, I need disk cleanup for drive space in Guset OS Windows Server 2003.

Guest OS Windows Server 2003 VM hard drive parameters:

    Size current 92.5 GB,

    Maximum size of 150 GB.

I use Disk Cleanup tool to clean C:\Document and Settings\Temp\ and temporary Internet Files\ administrator to get 32 GB of disk space. Now my computer in Windows Server 2003:

    Used space: 59.2 GB

    86.2 GB of free space

    145GB total space

But when I check again Windows Server 2003 VM hard drive settings, its current size is 92.5 GB and is not afraid to 59.2 GB after cleaning. Host operating system Windows 7 disc does not come more disk space after cleaning.

My Player VM VM-> settings is not a function of "Shrink" and the program does not "vmware - vdiskmanager.exe" file to run the function of 'shrink '.

    My question is:

How to get the approximately 32 GB (92, 5-59, 2 GB) of disk space happen on Windows Server 2003 VM settings and drive hard host operating system Windows 7?

    Thank you.

    People,

Hello. VMware Tools has tab Shrink to reduce the virtual disk. But the free disk space hard host should be larger that the size of the virtual disk you are reduced to shrink.

The problem is solved by myself. Thank you.

  • Install Windows XP on a Windows 7 operating system?

One of my friends has installed windows 7 on my computer recently, but now my computer is telling me it is not authentic and that I might be a victim of software counterfeiting. To resolve this problem, I am trying to install windows xp on my computer instead because I can't afford to buy windows 7 and I already had a copy unused windows xp installation. So, I put the installation disc in and install it in a hurry, but he told me that there are compatibility issues because my operating system is newer than the one I am trying to install. I thought I could delete just somehow the windows operating system 7 and then install the xp system. But I can't find all the information on how to do this or if this is even possible. Is could someone please tell me how I can get this to work so that I no longer have the version infringed on my computer? Thanks for the help! :)

  • Hard drive, operating system...

How can I transfer my operating system and etc in a bigger hard drive or a different hard drive? Thanks for your help.

Your original premise says "How can I transfer my operating system and etc in a bigger hard drive or a different hard drive?".

This means you want to CLONE the old disk (XP operating system and all programs with data files) to a larger capacity drive. This disc would be a hard drive bootable XP OS and retains all data and programs.

Have you read the link? I'll re-post the concept.

If you have at least 1 Seagate hard drive, you can use free Seagate Disk Wizard to clone your old drive.
