Transfer outlook express emails from a computer windows xp on a windows 7.

Recently, I received my parents put up with a new computer: a made-to-measure machine running a 64 bit version of windows 7 Professional. The reason for this change is that their old pc is very slow. The main problem I've come across is e-mail transfer; on their old computer they are running outlook express where they sorted and organized e-mail for over 5 years now, emails, they are not ready to lose. Is it possible to transfer these emails from the old pc to the new? If so, how would I go to do? I also learned that outlook express is no longer supported. If this is true, is kind of price should I be looking at?

Thanks in advance

How can I move the outlook express emails from an XP PC to an another XP PC that has the same e-mail address without overwriting existing messages on this second PC?

I need to group together all messages from e-mail in a PC and to retire the first PC.

This could be problematic. I guess or OE is over? This would make it easy.

One thing you could do requires some manual work, but much less removal of dupes. For example, the Inbox. In the machine, you are going to scrap, create a new folder and move all messages in your Inbox to it. After you import on the other machine, you can drag the messages you need this folder in the Inbox, and then remove the user created the folder.

And then there are tools to remove the dupes. This one for example.

  • How can I transfer outlook express files from windows XP to windows 7 on my new laptop?

I was able to transfer my address book, but unable to transfer my e-mail files express outlook my desktop (Windows XP) to my laptop (windows7).  I used an easy transfer cable, but have all the files I wanted.

The transfer is easy, but you fail to mention what e-mail program you use. Windows 7 does not have a mail client included as OE in XP.

If you use Windows Live Mail, so I'd say do this way.

Transfer of data from Outlook Express and Windows Live Mail:

    For Messages:

Copy the * ENTIRE * OE message store folder to a flash drive. (Folders.dbx must be included). Place it on the desktop or another location on the computer using WLMail. Open WLMail and: file | Import | Messages | Microsoft Outlook Express 6, and the point where it was saved.

    Location of OE message store:

In OE: Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

    For addresses:

Open the address book in OE and file | Export | Address book (wab) and save it to the desktop. Copy it to a flash drive. Place it on the desktop or another location on the computer using WLMail.

Open the Contacts list in WLMail, (go |) Contacts in the Menu bar) and the file | Import | Address book (wab) Windows and the point where you saved it.

Note: If you use a CD or a DVD instead of a flash drive, after placing on the new machine you must remove the read-only attribute in the properties before you import.

    For the account settings:

In OE: Tools | Accounts, select the account and export it to the desktop. This will be an .iaf file. Copy it to the new computer and WLMail desktop: tools | Accounts and import the settings from the location you saved the.

Is there a way I can recover my Outlook Express e-mail account.  I downloaded Windows Live Mail and don't like it at all.  I can't understand how to add a new contact.

You post in a forum of Vista and Outlook Express last used in XP. If you mean Vista Windows Mail, unless you have removed the account, just open the program and use it. You can remove WLMail whenever you want. It is a part of the programs in the window Live Essentials Control Panel uninstall section.

  • Cannot access Outlook Express email on computer so open on iPhone

I can't access Outlook Express on my computer recently, I opened my email on my iPhone.  A way to solve this very annoying problem?

You cannot access Outlook Express, or you cannot access mail on Outlook Express?

If mail: OE has this option: tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties | Advanced - Check: leave a copy of messages on the server. You also need to find the equivalent of this on your iPhone and check there as well.

On a single computer only, check to delete messages after X days to satisfy your allocated space you get from your server, but you give the possibility to download at once.

Until you configure an e-mail account, you need the following:
Call your ISP (internet service provider) or your mail server, ask them to give you the following:

    E-mail address
    Your user name
    Passwarod
    Name of the incoming server
The name of the outgoing server

When you have those, also ask if they can help you set up the email account or if they have a Web site that will teach you how to.
