Transparent encryption of data - Oracle RAC

Hi all

I test on Oracle 11 g R2 Transparent data encryption
I added this line to my sqlnet.ora with my single instance database and it worked fine
ENCRYPTION_WALLET_LOCATION =
(SOURCE = (METHOD = FILE) (METHOD_DATA =
(= Rental directory)))

I tried to do the same test with Oracle RAC, but it did not work, I added this line in the sqlnet.ora from home of the grid, there is no sqlnet.ora in my house from oracle

Here is the error, why it does work on CARS? is because I added it to home network sqlnet.ora?
SQL> ALTER SYSTEM SET ENCRYPTION KEY AUTHENTICATED BY "myPassword";
ALTER SYSTEM SET ENCRYPTION KEY AUTHENTICATED BY "myPassword"

What happens when you set in a single instance of the ORACLE_HOME. :)

  • IOM 9.1.0.2 - Multi Weblogic JDBC for Oracle RAC Data Sources

IOM-IOM 9.1.0.2 BP07 supports Weblogic JDBC Multi Data Sources (Services > JDBC > Multi Data Sources) for Oracle RAC instead of insert the "Oracle RAC JDBC URL" on xlDS and xlXADS JDBC Data Sources (Services > JDBC > Data Sources > xlDS | xlXADS > survey login > URL)?
If so, are there any other changes that must be made on IOM, or simply to change data sources?

Yes, it is supported. You install against a single instance directly of the Rac server. Then you update the file config.xml and jdbc resources in your server weblogic with the full address of rac. It is documented for installation against CARS. http://docs.Oracle.com/CD/E14049_01/doc.9101/e14047/database.htm#insertedID2

  • Encryption and data interference

We will have our colon examined for a compliance audit of the type PCI, and I have a question about the data file obfuscation and encryption. We have an oracle RAC, the two nodes running 10.2.0.2, and we don't use transparent encryption data. I was asked, and I could not answer, whether the data are hidden by another method. We use the DSO, and I can't find a way to browse the file system ASM to access files outside of the database. ASM offers any kind of compression or obfuscation that would make it difficult to read the files?

You can even get to the data files in an ASM instance?

    Thanks in advance...

    Dan

    Hi Dan,.

ASM does nothing but manage disks. Thus, the data files are not visible in a file system, it is true. But you can run ASMCMD and copy files on the file system. In addition, you can always run dd on raw devices themselves and access the data.

ASM offers a very light, very low obfuscation, layer at best.

If you want that data to be secure, you must implement the transparent data encryption.

    Hope that helps,

    -Mark

  • Turning to Oracle RAC to the only Oracle database

    Hi all

We are responsible for "make a copy" of Oracle RAC database a customer and our plan is to finish with the FCAC and allows you to host a new unique Oracle database. Very few of us familiar with CARS and looking for suggestions on how to do it (without affecting the source JAR).

Can take a full expdb of the source database and simply use impdp to import into the standalone database server?

    Comments/suggestions appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Can take a full expdb of the source database and simply use impdp to import into the standalone database server?

It is an option. Data pump does not care if the source and/or destination is CARS or a mix. If the database is too large, it can take a lot of time to complete.

Another option is to use the DOUBLE of RMAN feature. And another option is to restore the database from a backup.

    See you soon,.

  • Oracle RAC (physically separate buildings)

    Hello

I would like to know who already had this experience to prepare an Oracle RAC in separate buildings.

We have two data centers, and we intend to prepare two separate nodes physically in this building (each node in one building).

Data centers are in the same city.

    Could this be possible?

    Thank you!

This looks like an extended cluster, alias "stretched CARS." It's a reasonably normal environment, although there are some considerations. You'll need storage on each side with ASM mirror and a third independent unit (a NFS server is good) for a copy of the file with the right to vote. A 10 GHz ethernet link should be more than enough. If you need assistance configuring her, let me know

    Hello

A CCR node does not mean that you install the grid infrastructure in a single node and install a base of a RAC data on this node.

Basically, a concept CAR is similar to active passive clustering to provide high availability. To have a node database RAC upward and launched, you will have to install clusterware on at least two server by selecting the option during the installation of the IM.

Pls follow the below post for detailed answer

  • Is it possible create Oracle RAC on NFS datastore?

    Hello

Is it possible create Oracle RAC on NFS datastore?   With the VMFS data store, we use VMDK files as the Oracle RAC shared virtual disks with the Comptrollership and multi-writer SCSI Paravirtual, what about the NFS datastore? is the controller SCSI Paravirtual and writer multi function supported on the NFS datastore?

Unless I'm missing something, this is not supported on NFS.

  • Change password for an Oracle RAC installation account

    All,

I'm not an Oracle DBA, but currently I am asked to fill in until a certified Oracle DBA lights.  I work with MS SQL Server and have servers managed for some time.

That being said, my question is probably a simple.  In the Oracle 11 g RAC 2 installation guide, it tells you * must * use an account that exists on both servers to install.  So far, so good, we have a domain dedicated to this purpose and no other account.  However, due to a recent change in policy, we must also change the password on this account on a regular basis (annual).  My question is, which, if it is, a will this affect on our Oracle RAC database facilities?

If we simply change the password at the domain level, rather than to check the "must change password at next login", is this cause problems with our data?

My inclination is no, we have no problems, because current services 'running' Oracle use the local NETWORK SERVICE account that will not be changed, but confirmation of this would be appreciated.

    Environment:

    Operating system: Windows Server 2008 R2 SP2

    Oracle: 11.2.0.2 and 10.2.0.4

    GRID: 11.2.0.2

  • Oracle RAC 11 g fencing

Hi all, I want to know if anyone knows the process of closing on the CARS, the other question is, Oracle RAC is able to restart the nodes (physical servers)?

    Thank you very much.

    Pablo

The Oracle Clusterware is designed to perform a node eviction by removing one or more nodes in the cluster if a critical problem is detected.  A critical problem could be a node does not not by a heartbeat of network, a node does not by a heartbeat of disc, a machine hooked or severely degraded, deprivation of resources OS (IE high use of the processor, memory shortage/Swapping, queue/executed load medium high) or an ocssd.bin process hanging.

    For example,.

Oracle Clusterware is based on the files of voting accessibility. If a node in the cluster cannot access the majority of the files of voting, the node (s) to which it applies is (are)

immediately removed from the cluster (expelled / closed).

This expulsion of node is intended to maintain the overall health of the cluster by removing members wrong (in other words, in order to avoid "split brain" situations, as well as data corruption).

Note: From 11.2.0.2 RAC (or if you're on Exadata), expulsion of node may not actually reboot the machine.  It's what we call a restart without rebooting.  In this case, we reboot most of the clusterware battery to see if that solves the unhealthy node.

    Hello

I just want to know, why oracle RAC 11.2.0.2 give me more problem than oracle 11.2.0.1?

You can use Oracle Support to fix all bugs on Oracle software. Simply open the SR

1 resolved multicast (multicast open or patch)

This bug is documented for the Clusterware installation, find the Bug 9974223:
    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/E11882_01/READMEs.112/e17129/TOC.htm#CHDIEHCH

2 DNS problem (PRVF-5636: DNS response for an unreachable node time exceeded "15000" ms)

This isn't an Oracle problem, but a DNS problem that can cause instability in the clusterware, YES does not proceed without resolving the problem in your nodes.

    Date of arrival:

    /etc/resolv.conf
    /etc/nsswitch.conf

find line hosts: on file nsswitch.conf

Check if service NFSLOCK works... and if not start it.

    # service nfslock status

    * Mounting for Oracle files options when used with NAS [359515.1 ID] devices *.
Mounting for Oracle data files options

    rw,bg,hard,nointr,rsize=32768, wsize=32768,tcp,actimeo=0, vers=3,timeo=600

For games of backups RMAN, copies images and Data Pump dump files, the "NOAC" mount option should not be specified - it's because RMAN and Data Pump do not check this option and specifying this can adversely affect performance.

The following NFS options must be specified for 11.2.0.2 disc RMAN backup directory:

    opts="-fstype=nfs,rsize=65536,wsize=65536,hard,actime=0,intr,nodev,nosuid"

  • Oracle RAC & BFILE

    Dear Experts,

We have 4 nodes Oracle RAC 11gR2P-1 on RHEL 5.5 (64-bit). We want to store image on the database files using the BFILE data type. Its quite simple in a single instance database. However, how to achieve this in a 4-node configuration?

    (1) should we create a file system that is shared by all four nodes? or
    (2) create a file system access by a single node and make this node to write about setting type BFILE? How to get there?

I don't want you guys wasting your valuable time to write the code here, but rather to share your idea on this.

Enjoy any new idea as well.
