• Lenovo X120e in trouble with the system update

  Hi, I am building a brand new X120e (0596) with an AMD E-350, 4 GB of RAM I have loaded with X 64 Win 7 Enterprise. Everything is fine, but whenever I try to run the Lenovo system update I get the message: "the server to update the system is currently unavailable. Please try again later. "Normally I just wait a day and try again, but I've waited three days and tried every day and still not the same error. Also I tried to download things like the Manager of power and integration of hotkey directly from Lenovo, and while they install although they do not work properly. The power manager does not detect the battery and the shortcut keys work only partially. Usually after I get 'not available' error I try to use the update of the system on a 301 x and a t41 I have and it works on both.   I need the procedure for recovery of bios for x121e (x120e, x130e).
  IM in brick, and no method found in guides for wincrisis do not work. I think that I can't enter the bios recovery mode no mather who combinatiom of the keys I use. Nothing happening just to the fan spins and the laptop does not read my USB (usb led flashes for less than a second and that's it.

  The fixed!

  So for everyone with the same model and same problem: it turns out that this bios don't really boot block. If the bios failure = brick Clipboard without recovery options.

  But here's how I solved mine. Bought a SPI programmer, ic clip (soic8), some test wires and fact adapter to connect the programmer ind clip. Had some problems and also had to change downloaded bios because I didn't have the right backup but after little playing, he shot straight up. If you have good rom backed up, flashing should be easier. It is the solution for those who have more technical, but much easier than the chip soldering skills.

  I think what you're referring is a feature called "Vari Bright". He is buried somewhere in the Catalyst Control Center drivers...

  I have more a X120e to point you in the exact direction where the option, but I think remember me that disabling and it sets auto contrast changes when it is on battery.

  Hi everyone, this is going to be a bit long, so thank you in advance for your patient. :-)

  The boot loop (explained in a previous post) my problem was solved by changing the motherboard. I'm happy to have my operational x120e.

  Now, I have a very annoying problem. After receiving the laptop, I immediately put to update the latest bios firmware.

  Later I discovered that after I installed the new mobo to the center support they did not update the type of product, a serial number of the machine in the BIOS. So the thinkvantage Toolbox displayed an incorrect product id: qqqq2ru. As you can imagine that the system cannot be automatically updated because there is no product with this identification number.

  After hours of searching on Google I found a copy of the disk of hardware maintenance (v1.78, please don't ask me how I did it) and I managed to update the BIOS with the right product and SN. I thought, oh, what a relief to e. This until the computer is restarted. The Toolbox now shows the correct SN but the same incorrect product id: qqqq2ru

  I thought that maybe I should reinstall the system to factory default. Done, but the result is the same. My product in the Toolbox TV id is on qqqq2RU, although in the bios, I see the correct model, in my case 05962RU.

  Can anyone shed light on what could be the problem?

  Any help will be much appreciated.

  OK, I solved this.

  Aparently, the cause of the problem was Flash new bios without the first writing of the info in the BIOS (Serial Number, type of product, etc.)

  I have downgraded the bios with an old version and deleted the product type. Voila. ThinkVantage Toolbox recognized my product id, etc. of SN. After that, I updated the bios with the latest version and now everything is fine.

  Hope this will help someone with the same problem in the future.

• external monitor X120e HDMI 1920 x 1200?

  I have a 24 "1920 x 1200 external monitor, and I want to buy model x120e, for use with this monitor. It will work on the native resolution?

  Yes it will work at this resolution. It is actually 2048 x 1152, but this resolution is not commonly used, so most of the references would state 1920 x 1200 or 1920 x 1080.

• New X120e: slowdown in hard drive problems

  Hello. I bought a brand-new x120e last month and I feel stutters intermittent video (but not audio usually). He plays very well for a few minutes, then I get massive frame drops and resumes after a few seconds. This problem can be seen with mpeg videos 4 code of SD resolution. Initially I suspected that my videos have been corrupt, but they are actually perfectly fine (even video will be stutter at various points. They are also very well on other machines). I tried at least 10 different videos, and the problem can be seen in each of them.

  I tried VLC, windows media, classic CCCP Media Player, player and they all have the same problem.

  When I look at the CPU usage history, there is no unusual spikes or falls in the use of the CPU for stuttering (constant at 20% or more).

  I had the same problem with the stock drivers. I installed the latest update of drivers and bios Lenovo site but same problem (I also tried the drivers far more directly from AMD, but uninstalled prompty them because they seem to break the brightness of the screen.) Unfortunately I forgot to try video playback).

  I tried to disable all the options from the Catalyst Control Panel, but no improvement in video post-processing.

  I'm sure this isn't malware or virus related - I have MS security essentials running home and I didn't download all applications other than steam, chrome and above media players.

  Flash (youtube, etc) and video Netflix seem unaffected.

  I suspected that maybe my HDD wakes up from his sleep after a few minutes of inactivity, but I doubt that's it. Power management settings are defined so that my hard drive goes to sleep after 15 minutes of inactivity, but the saccade occur more often than that. (Besides, I don't think that video playback counts as inactivity)

  Hello, I bought ThinkPad x120e, and my primary operating system is Linux. Now, I have used Linux for 10 years now, and I have not through such a problem until now, even if other people say that they installed Linux on the thing with success.
  I tried to boot ArchLinux from the flash drive USB, passes GRUB, but starts then stops at the message "kernel startup".

  I tried 15 Fedora and Ubuntu 11.10, the same thing. That once Ubuntu has successfully started (I don't know how it happened, by chance I guess), and it worked perfectly.

  I found the problem. When I make a change in the BIOS and then select 'Save and Exit BIOS', the laptop will not start hard, but will be the attempt to load the operating system. In the case of Linux, the kernel will not start. When I turn off and turn on the laptop, Linux starts as usual. Is there anyone with x120e, who can confirm this?   I hope to explain clearly what is my (BIG) problem with my x120e.

  Yesterday, I noticed a strange behavior on my bios. I tried to make some changes for example. Switching fn with ctrl key, which allows the charger usb, or AMD - V technology. With f10, I saved and restarted the computer. CTRL-FN keys has not changed. I went into the bios and I saw that nothing has been recorded. I repeated the process, without success. Without stops could be made. As I turned off the computer.

  After a few minutes, I wanted to turn on the computer, but here's the big problem. The computer does not start. After pressing the power button / computer starts (I hear the fan noise and light on the green power button) but, after 6 seconds, without reach the bios logo, it restarts and it will indefinitely until I stopped him keep the power button.

  What I tried after searching the forums was:

  1. remove the battery, keeping the power for 60 years (and 30) button pressed seconds. Re-connect battery. NOTHING

  2. I removed the system memory, put back them. You try to start. NOTHING

  The netbook is 1 month old. It's very frustrating.

• Question of X120e ABGN driver in Windows 7 Pro x 64

  I recently bought a x120e and installed an SSD with my own copy of Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. I managed to install all the drivers, but my ABGN 2 x 2 wlan card driver refuses to install correctly. I get a code 10 this device cannot start the message and have tried reinstalling the drivers several times and also tried a new installation of Windows, by using my Win 7 Ultimate 64 DVD with the same result. I called Lenovo support and they remote in and tried as well and couldn't make it work. They sent me a replacement wlan 2 card x 2 and it does too much the drivers. Has anyone experience this problem?

  I will try to install a copy of Windows 7 32 then and see if it's a matter of 64-bit driver. If this does not resolve this, I guess my only option is to call the guy from on-site warranty and replace the motherboard. If anyone knows a fix or an another une autre source source for these broadcom drivers, let me know. Thank you

  
  

• X120e overheating

  My x120e was not hot since I got it.

  Do not do much, it'll be the full load of 75-80 degrees c., c. 95-99

  I tried to replace the thermal paste, heat sink replacement's the cpu undervolted. It still runs very hot. I write this, the computer is 97% idle and always at 77 degrees C. It sits on a hardwood floor, so the ventilation openings on the bottom that I just blew are clear.

• X120e bad DIMM location. System does not return from standby mode

  Hello. I have a X120e running Windows 8.1 Pro x 64.

  I just put the unit to 4 GB of ram (2 x 2) of 2 GB (1 x 2). Whenever the upper DIMM Slot is used, the system will not leave standby mode and all power, including the battery must be removed from the system so that it works normally again.

  Of interest, all the ram tested with Memtest86 +.

  If it's important the system has the e350 CPU and a 320 GB HARD drive.

  Update: I've updated the BIOS from 1.16 to 1.17. The system now between and leave pending normally as it should, with the two occupied ram slots.

• X120e Funtion keys brightness does not?

  I just got the x120e and I have been through the fixed auto-éclaircissant himself. After that, I hit the Fn + Home and adjusted to my preference. • X120e Battery Charge problem

  I bought my x120e about a month ago and it's been great since, but recently I had problems with the battery. When I charge the battery to 100% and then unplug the power adapter, the battery is fine for an hour or two, and load will decrease to a normal and regular rhythm (indicated by the percentage). However, when the battery is at 75-80%, then he jumps abruptly up to 10%, and I get a message that I have to charge the cell phone or turn it off. When I connect and start loading again, the battery charges at a normal speed of about 10 to 40%, but the same thing happens and it jumps up to 100%, saying it is fully charged. Overall, I am very satisfied, and I think that this problem of battery was only an isolated case. The battery is supposed to come in 2 days!
