• Upgrade to Palm Treo 755 p - data and synchronization programs

  I have a Palm 700 p with Verizon Wireless, I just bought a new unlocked Palm 755 p for Verizon Wireless. I have several 3rd software left loaded on my Palm 700 p including Chapura key Palm Suite. I want to transfer all my programs and data of the 700 p for the new 755 p, but I also want to install the new palm desktop with new programs, such as Google.

  Assuming I have hot sync my 700 p with my PC, then activate my new phone (and disable my 700 p), how can I then do?

  If you want to copy all the data and programs for the new Treo, you can synchronize the data from the same user name after you rename the backup on the PC folder in the user_name folder. The only problem is that you will need to re - install 3 third party programs. You cannot synchronize to the same user name with the old Treo backup folder. The devices are not the same model and it will cause problems because the setings and preferences of the backup folder.

  Follow this procedure to rename the backup folder.

  Looks like you may need to reset your device and rename your backup folder. Go to http://www.palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?ID=887 and follow the directions to do a hard reset. Then before of you hotsync your data back you will need to rename your backup folder, to do than go here.

  files and folders, clear the Hide extensions for known file types.

• two devices (lifedrive, treo 755), the same user name, the best way to synchronize all these devices?

  I myself am kicking from the start, I thought that I would not continue to use my Lifedrive. I transferred all on the new Treo by using the same user name, as I had on my Lifedrive.  Now I realize that I will be staying in Central America for six months and won't put my Treo.  I won't put my Lifedrive, but must have updated information about this.  Is it possible to keep the two synchronized?

  Thanks for your clarification.  I have now two synchronized cameras. I used the same profile that makes me nervous so use probably not two devices at the same time. I will definitely have a Treo current backup folder and synchronize the closest Lifedrive both I will use it in the Honduras.

  I was unable to sync my BB Storm with the data on my Palm Treo 755 p.  I use the BB desktop software - the two devices are connected to the PC via the USB ports.  I click on the device switch Wizard and follow the prompts.  However, the screen with the option buttons to select Palm or Microsoft is off and light gray.  I am unable to make a selection.   It may be important to note that I don't use Palm desktop.  My Palm Treo is set to synchronize with our database of the main company Act.  I appreciate your thoughts and the entrance.

• HotSync problem, no contacts or calendar syncs on Treo 755 p. Help!

  I tried to hotsync my Treo but can hotsync everything except contacts and the calendar on my laptop running XP.  How can I get the contacts/calendar sync?

  The problem is more complicated.  I was able to synchronize only once when I got the last Treo Sept 2007.  If new data (Contacts/Calendar) since then cannot not be sync between the Treo & laptop.

  Photos & tasks & memos synchronize successfully, however.

  Now my screen is cracked.  I have a new TReo, but Service of Sprint could not extract data more because they have said that the screen is cracked.  I am told he is only average sync old Treo, and then synchronize the new Treo to get the data.  Because I can't have my old Treo to sync contacts/calendar for the past year, I'm afraid all of my data is LOST!  Help, please!

  Thank you very much for answering.  I really appreciate it.  Because no one responded, I decided that I had to solve this problem myself 2 nights ago.  I just finally figured this out after staying up to 4 hours after midnight searching for the answer online & after going back & forth between the old cracked Treo to retrieve data & download on the new Treo.  I also called the Sprint technical support at 03:00.  I didn't know that you can call Sprint for it!  The Sprint Lady said the same thing after that I thought about it.

  I also found that you can remove the EAS account in your Palm Desktop on your laptop on the Hotsync menu, Custom, and then change the VersaMail conduit.  Once you click on the change in the VersaMail, you have the ability to delete accounts. (I found online of the ways more complex to remove Regional service accounts using the Treo, which he did not work for me).

  Once the EAS is removed from the desktop, make sure files synchronization is enabled in the VersaMail conduit to allow this info in the past for the Treo.

  However, I also had to play with the lines of contacts because it is automatically extracted from "doing nothing" until the EAS account is deleted in the Treo.  It took a few tries, but it worked.

  The downside is that it reproduces all the hundreds of contacts I had currently on the Palm Desktop on the computer.  I so had to go and manually remove duplicates & then Resync.  That's why it took hours.  Just go back & suite.

  I got the voice dialing software and loaded to my Treo 755 p. Now, when I sync, I get a message from my Mac (running OS 10.4.11 G5) that ' HotSync operation interrupted - some of your data is WITHOUT backup - for details, click on "View log" below. When I click on "View log" I get another window saying "unknown sync error [16385]." When I clock OK, the HotSync log arrives. The bottom line reads ""Backup"failed (error = unknown Sync Eror)" "

  The message on my Treo (stick around well after that the Mac has abandoned) is "sync Voice Dial. And he sits and sits and sits. If I click on 'Cancel' he sits and sits and sits. I find myself pulling the USB cable after about 15 minutes. I let it go for an hour with no resolution.)

  The help section of the site Palm has been less than stellar. I received emails from two different people. The first told me I had to make you that I had a successful backup, a hard reset (it sweeps away everything that I have loaded), then reinstall (essentially synchronize all). I had some questions and responded to the email. My answer, said "the current problem is that the Treo® Voice dialing application is recommended to be installed and used with a Windows PC.   Huh? This guy goes on to say that "we want to make sure that your problem is resolved" and that they will send me a satisfaction questionnaire.

  Nowhere on the page web dial voice (http://software.palm.com/us/html/display_palm_product.jsp?navCategoryId=&id=prod1971287) he says that the software must be loaded from a Windoze PC. I am a designer and run a business Mac only. From there, it seems I am toward the top of the Creek with a Treo that will not save if I want to keep the voice dialing on it.

  I transferred my contacts from my old Palm Treo 755 p from Palm desktop on a windows XP computer. Now, I need to transfer them to my new Treo 755 p. I tried hotsync, but it creates a new backup to my new treo 755 p. How can I synchronize contacts from my Palm desktop (former treo 755 p) to my new treo 755 p.

  Hard Reset the new Treo, so it is completely erased.  Perform a HotSync, and Palm Desktop invites you to "create a new account or use an existing a?" choose "Existing" and choose the name of your data HotSync.

• Treo 755 p - resets all of a sudden when I try to open memos

  I don't know if it is a hardware problem.  I had a Treo 755 p (Verizon) for about 7 months.  All of a sudden, when I try to open memos, my Treo restarts automatically.  I was able to perform a hotsync or information memo back up to the desktop computer.  But yet when I open the memos, it resets to zero.  It didn't happen as long as I had my phone.  I did remove the battery for a bit and still have the same problem.

  I tried searching the forums and didn't come with anything.  Any ideas would be appreciated.

  Hello 4xxblessed and welcome to the fourms Palm.

  The sound of your question, let me a guess that your MemosDB file on the Palm is corrupted.  Do you have a good set of memos on your computer desktop or in Palm Desktop/Outlook/Entourage?

  If you do, then download and install Palm OS free, runfile manager. Then delete the file "MemosDB-Mmtp" of internal memory space.  Then, on your Palm, run the memos application to recreate a new empty file of MemosDB-Mmtp.  Then, on your computer, set the memos led to Desktop replaces handheld and perform a HotSync.

  Test the memo after HotSync application is complete.  If it works, reset the memos led to synchronize.

• Treo 755 p - Sprint don't sync with Windows 7

  I used the Treo 755 with XP without any problem.  I've tried and failed at 6 or 7 times to connect to Windows 7.  Installation takes me to syncronize stage and she died there.  When it does not sync I just skip the step.  He won't let me not go back.  I need backup before I lose something important.  In addition, I have files I want to transfer and cannot.  Ideas?

  I'm a long-time Palm enthusiast who is frustrated.  No Palm products more for me or anyone I talk to until I fix this.  Someone at Palm should pay attention to their long-standing customers.  I bought Palm trees in 2002 and 2003.

  Documentation of support coming with two Treo 755 p I bought was so poor that never saw the fine print that there are three months of care, if I registered devices.  The registration page doesn't let me register.  All fields are ghosts after I put in the serial number.  I bought one in June 2008 and the other in early 2008.  If ever registered and can't get any help from Palm, now it seems.

  After a lot of work, hours over several months, I've had my my Treo 755 p Verizon hot Synch with an office of QuickSilver albums Mac running os 10.5 x.

  Have upgraded the RevD.

  Advanced on the Treo to select in synchronization preferences settings allow other Hot Sync applications.   Otherwise, the feature of wireless synchronization prevents a Hot Synch.

  Once these two were Hot Synch works very well, and sync wireless works fine and doesn't interfere.

  The wireless on both PDA's should be removed on the two Treo due the economy on 4 February, so I would like the HotSync to work so his Treo is saved.

  The error you are reporting is a common mistake and will not affect anything.

  Are you sync'ing your current phone for the same user in Palm Desktop as an older device name?
  If you are, this will cause problems on the new device. When you synchronize the device, it records the device settings, applications, 3rd party, preferences, etc. in the backup folder in the folder on the PC username. When you synchronize the new device it copies the content of the backup for the old device folder in the new device. This will cause corruption in the settings of the new device, which causes erratic behavior of the new device.

• Treo 755 p - delay of shift

  I use a Treo 755 p for Sprint with Palm OS Garnet v.5.4.9.

  My problem is that my Treo has a several second delay or delay in recognition of the SHIFT key pressed (for the manufacture of capitalization).  So, even though I know you're supposed to be able to press the SHIFT key, then the uppercase letter, it does not work for me.  An up arrow appears immediately on the extreme right, but the Treo has a significant delay in the recognition in fact the shift function.  If I hold down the SHIFT key, and press a letter, I get a capital letter.  But then when I release the passage and continue with lowercase letters I can write only one or two letters when the deferred update function belately kicks in and I get a letter uppercase, inserted in the middle of my word.  Usually, it is the third letter.  Thus the words I write tend to look like this:

  It is very annoying because I constantly need to go back and fix/remove capital letters.  This happens by typing throughout the Treo (calendar, notes, emails).  I want to emphasize that this is not a case where the Treo between Shift lock.  There's just a capital letter based on the delay when I pressed the SHIFT key at the beginning of the word.  I have not experienced a similar problem with the Option key down (the white button on the far left used for numbers and special symbols)

  So, my questions are:

  1 has anyone else experienced this problem?

  2. is it possible to adjust (reduce) the amount delayed integrated function of the SHIFT key?  Or even remove the delay entirely so this update only works if you hold it simultaneously with another key?

  3 - is it seems likely to be a hardware or software problem?  I have add this problem with my Palm 755 p since I started using it.

  Then, try a reboot hot (soft reset + louder on the nav 5 lanes) to see if any software you have is originally from lag. Some things stick like a leech on the keyboard, and although they can do their job, they can create some lag when another application is in conflict with it.

• Treo 755 p - Max filesize for video?

  Hi all -

  I use the photo/video player that comes with the 755 p (verizon)

  No problem with a small .wmv file - played a lot. Now that I have a large (25 MB, nothing huge) - the hotsync operation is faulty, told he was interrupted etc - but it is only when I try to sync with the largest video file... If I remove it, it works fine.

  I am using palm desktop and adding media to the library, then HotSync via the USB port. Once again, it works fine without the video file in the media section, broke the connection and don't have a hotsync with her.

  Since I bought a card of 4 GB I have some stuff on there. Is there a limit to the size of the file for the videos? Any other ideas?

  I also tried to convert video in various formats (mp4, avi) .wmv no chance, but if there is one that tends to work better please don't let me know. Thank you.

  OK thank you guys - it works FINE:

  "Add" video in the media section of Palm desktop. I didn't know that this was, but as you pointed out this fact converts the file to palm-friendly (I see the solution of problems, etc.).

  Once it is there, click on 'change media '.

  Click on "Save as".

  Then save it to the SD card in the folder DCIM/PALM.

  Now, the video is displayed in my Media Player and looks and plays perfectly. Both Palm TCP AND player.

  I had a treo 700 and replaced with a rebuilt 755.  The guy at the sprint store said that I don't need new software, so no disc came with it.  Now I can't hotsync with my mac.  I downloaded 4.2.1 (or other) several times without success.  How do I keep a copy of the CD?

  Thanks for the reply.  I highlighted palm and trashed all records.  I went on the link and downloaded 4.2.1.  could not bind via home/cable station.  Then tried IR to PC.  He began to bind, then stopped at "tasks", for some reason any.  Is it possible that my treo is windows only version?
