  Here, it's a problem and a solution. In Adobe Reader MS you can use the hand tool and the selection tool. But you won't get to display in the main toolbar, no matter how deep digging into the menu show/hide.

  SOLUTION: move your mouse in the lower part of the screen to display the control on the Tools Page. This is where you'll see the hand and select Tools.

  The complete steps are:

  1. click on view > show/hide > controls to the Page and make sure that show Page controls is selected.

  2. the controls on the page will appear in your toolbar or at the bottom of the screen.

  3. to move controls from the page to the bottom of the screen (or your toolbar), click the icon that looks like a bar with a down arrow.

  4. you will only be able to see the hand and select tools when the page controls are at the bottom of your screen.

  Adobe, I usually like your software, but I spent half an hour looking for a hand icon. Frustration.  >  :-((

  My XP search tool (the one with the little dog) goes on and during the search, and if I found what I need I stop searching and getting back to work.  I could do in W2K, but in XP - SP3 when I stop the search, Windows Explorer crashes.  So, I have to restart my XP.  Y at - it a fix for this, or do I have to use another search tool?

  I have this problem on my own XP machines and have seen several times on client computers. I think it's one that Microsoft will have to work, because I can not find a solution.  It seems to be the installation of third party software that does this, because a stock installation of XP with all updates to this day doesn't seem to have this problem.

  YOU DO NOT HAVE TO RESTART WINDOWS TO RECOVER FROM THIS.

  If Explorer crashes and your icons and the taskbar disappear, the solution is simply to wait for Explorer itself to begin again, or issue a ctrl-alt-delete, start Task Manager, click on file-> new task (run)-> and then enter "Explorer" (without the quotes) and click 'OK '. The icons and the taskbar will be back and XP will then operate normally.

  If some of the icons in the system tray are missing after Explorer restarts, you can quickly sign out and then sign back in to fix this problem, after you saved all work and close programs. The programs represented by missing icons are, in this case, which is still running, so it's only a cosmetic problem.

• Why aren't my live paint selection tool and direct selection indicating when objects are selected?

  In the document 'A', when I use the live paint selection tool click on a segment of my live paint group, this segment becomes "gray" or "pixelated" to indicate that I have selected it.

  In the document 'B', no indication at all when a live painting segment is selected.  It has the same appearance as a segment not selected.

  I am using the same tool & selection of segments in the same way both times.  I even experienced and pasted the same live paint group in both documents, to confirm that the appearance of the selected segments did not differ between the two documents.

  Even my regular direct selection tool is not indicating when a path or object is selected in the document 'B'.   There must be some setting or preference that differs between the two documents.    Someone has an idea it might be?  Also, is there a way to restore all the settings by default in a single shot, so I don't run into these problems of 'settings' elsewhere?

  I use Illustrator CS3.  I would appreciate any ideas!  Thank you.

  Check what business purpose, it will solve.  If the function is so safe, why everyone will use. Only admin people should access.

  Please go into Photoshop preferences > performance > advanced settings > change the drawing to Basic mode > restart Photoshop and then check

  Additionally, make sure that your graphics card drivers are updated.

  Try this.go in the menus. Select cc illustrator > preferences > display selection & anchor > then make sure the box "activate the rubber band for" the pen tool is not selected. Then press OK. It should work.
