  We have all the blades running with 4 drives, including two in a raid 1 configuration. We run HyperV based on all of its blades.

  What happens if one of those drives fails? 6100 raid configuration utility is in the BIOS, so it is obviously not an option. Since we use Core and have no GUI, other Dell RAID utilities are not going to work.

  How can you check the RAID health, other than just an orange flashing on a failed drive?

  Hi, soon I will get this system and it consists of the 256 GB ssd for the OS, etc and has 2 GB SATA for data.   There are two processes that allows to set up a RAID.  The technology Intel Rapid Storage Technology console and the Intel Option ROM RAID configuration utility.  Intel recommends using the console of RST on a system that already has Windows installed and working, but I do not know why the RAID configuration utility could not be used as long as the system drive must not be included in the RAID.

  If the RAID configuration utility is used, you end up with an empty RAID volume that must be partitioned and formatted as any hard drive, you add to the computer.  This is done by using the disk management application.  If the RST console is used to migrate RAID from a drive with data on it, the RAID created will have the same structure that we find on the disc for the migration, so partitioning and formatting would be necessary.

  To use the console of the RST, consider this: Intel Rapid Storage Technology User Guide.  Article 8 contains information specific to your goal.  The document also covers the RAID configuration utility, however, so it would be a good idea to consult the entire guide.  The computer must have the RAID mode is enabled before attempting to set up a RAID.  The guide gives a 'how', but remember the screens shown are for motherboards from Intel which differ slightly from the version of Dell.  The guide also provides information about using the RAID configuration utility.  The biggest difference between the use of the console of the RST and the RAID configuration utility, the Setup utility doesn't allows you to move from an existing drive.

The latest technology told me to turn off my antivirus, but then I HAD a virus, so I had to turn it back on. Anyway, I'm currently running Microsoft Security Essentials on your computer, and I read in a forum earlier that he didn't have a problem in this case. This was really inconvinient for us and I came close to switching Mailhosts. It is convinient for me to watch on my cell phone, it's the computer these days. So many random error messages and low speeds - Ugh!
