Try to download difficulty it Online for Windows XP

When it is to "collect information about your computer, it says"Unable to download troubleshooting guides, please check your internet connection".»  Verified... was online.  Tried like 5 different times to market with no luck.  I got it on my computer until I cleaned the disk and defragmented because of the problems I had with the troubleshooters.  Then I deleted the program and I am trying to reinstall from the Microsoft site.  I am computer illiterate totall and, of course, listened to someone who knows less I.  Just joined the community and hope that someone can help me.  Really, I rely on the difficulty it Online because I know so little about computers.

Instead of struggling with the routines of Microsoft FixIt - which cannot or may not apply to your situation - express your system and your problem in detail.  Start a new question with a subject line that describes your problem.

Include enough detail in your question so that potential participants can understand your situation.  See, for example, How to ask a question.

(most of the following borrowed from ElderL):

  • Describe your problem in detail.
  • Determine which version of Windows you have, including the service pack.
  • What is your system brand and model?
  • Your system's disks IDE or SATA drives?
  • Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE), McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, Comodo, PC Tools, etc.
  • The question was preceded by a loss of power, aborted reboot or abnormal termination?  (this includes the plug pulling, buttons power, remove the battery, etc.)
  • The afflicted system has a working CD/DVD (internal or external) drive?
  • You have a genuine XP installation CD bootable, which is the same Service as your installed Service Pack (this is not the same as any recovery CD provided with your system)?
  • If the system works, what do you think might have changed since the last time it did not work properly?
  • If the system was working fine yesterday, what do you think happened between yesterday and today?
