Try to fix windows Defender...

Try to uninstall windows Defender but it is not found inside windows unistaller, although the demand is there when I navigate on it it the windows Explorer. Also tried to use revo uninstaller the result was the same. could not find.

If you told us what you wanted at the start, you problem would have been solved in a few seconds.
You don't need any utility application to open the startup programs.
And you don't need high-tech fantasies methods.
Just use this application which is integrated as part of the operating system:

Start > in the search box, type msconfig > press the Enter key > uac prompt > click on start up tab > there is your startup programs.

To disable a program, clear the check box in front of her.
To re-enable a program... check the box in front of it.

    Hello

    ·         You have Microsoft Security Essentials on your computer?

If you have windows installed on your computer security essentials, then you will not be able to install Windows defender. Windows Security Essentials has antispyware component installed.

You get the error because you have installed MS Security Essentials, which has its own function to antimalware. You don't need or want to install Windows Defender, too. Leave MS Security Essentials installed and do not turn it off.

You apparently Forefront security or installed Microsoft Security Essentials. If this is the case, you can not install Windows Defender. MSE already has an element antispyware anyway. So what antivirus/security software you have already installed on the computer? I don't like Windows Defender on XP machines in any case. A better choice is MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware (free versions). Install and update / it run manually once a week or more. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

    Hi Mitchjr,

    ·          You have databases of security of Microsoft or Windows live OneCare software installed on the computer?

If you have two Microsoft Security databases or Windows live OneCare software installed on the computer, you will not be able to install Windows defender on the computer. You will need to uninstall them or do not install Windows defender on the computer.

If you don't have Microsoft Security Essentials or Windows live OneCare software installed on the computer then you will need temporary deactivation of security software installed on the computer and then try to install Windows defender.

Important: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

    Hi the ball

Kaspersky does not automatically turn off Windows Defender. However, it is recommended that, as usual, Windows Defender real-time protection is not enabled when Kaspersky is installed. Its a similar situation with Windows and Kaspersky firewall products that have built in firewall.

I used Kaspersky products for several years and it has always been the case in my experience. I just tested with Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 race and I was luckily allowed to activate the protection in real time of the defenders of Windows and the Windows Firewall.

    I hope this helps.  :)

    • You have problems with programs
    • Error messages
    • Recent changes to your computer
    • What you have already tried to solve the problem

I don't think this is the correct error code - check again.

What security software you have on your system (it - name and version)?  Some disable Windows Defender in installation intentionally to avoid any conflict, so you won't have a problem, but simply a case of using a product that disable Defender (and Defender must remain disabled in this case as long as the other program is installed).

Here's a troubleshooting article on how to fix Defender in Vista Ultimate: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555962.

    To repair the Defender:
Start - Control Panel - programs & features - Windows Defender - click on "Click here for support information" and choose repair.

    Update (update) Defender:
Start - Control Panel - programs & features - Windows Defender - change - update.

If the above does not work, try Windows Defender discussion groups: http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/newsgroups/default.mspx.

I am trying to turn on Windows Defender, & get the message error: 0x800106ba. Tried to restart the computer, as the error message suggested, even. Can you help me? OnePennyShort

    Hello OnePennyShort,

Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Forum.

I recommend that you look at the solutions of the following missions:
    http://social.technet.Microsoft.com/forums/en-us/itprovistaapps/thread/f5536f2d-ACEB-41A5-beb6-92e5d3b2f73f

If this does not help then try the following suggestion:
Right click on command prompt and run as administrator. Type the following command:
    WinMgmt /verifyrepository
If the system returns "referential WMI is not consistent", run this command:
    WinMgmt /salvagerepository
The first time you run this operation fails. (It will assign orders to stop services leading to failure. "This may take a few minutes for the services to stop). Run the command again. You may in fact need to run 3 times before finally runs and ends on its own.
    Reboot your system.

If please reply back and let us know if it helped to solve your problem or if you still need help.

  • I get this message 0 x 80070006 when I try to use windows defender, and my fire wall will not work? Any ideas why this is?

Some sites say it is a virus, some say it's because McAfee is worthless. What is a solid antivirus program that will fix this problem if it is a virus?

To avoid any software McAfee in conflict and other antivirus programs turn off Windows Defender on Vista spy software.

McAfee should have its own firewall as part of their suite.

If you are having problems with McAfee you contacted McAfee Support?

Or better still just delete McAfee and install a good free program like AVG, Avira, Microsoft Security Essentials or Avast.
