Trying to capture what reports are running and what users

Hi all

A few months ago, we went to Discoverer 11 g. One of the patches that I expected was the update of the table of query statistics to see which reports are running and that was their execution.

The problem is that most users run Discoverer more but they are not "free" closing more discoverer via file-> exit. They hit just ths 'X' to close the window. Oracle says that when users, their statistics are not written for query statistics tables. I find that the EUL workbooks that we installed are pretty useless because of this and really the only reason why I left the query statistics logging is enabled. I'm now seriously disable this because it is very inconsistent (cut out us statistics of query on a rolling table 180 days of history via the simultaneous program that removes the stats more than 180 days).

I was wondering if anyone here has made any record of what files are managed through some triggers? I see there is a trigger EUL function that we have in place, called message save documents, recording the name of the workbook, sql, etc.. But it does not record the date on which it was run. Is that what someone has changed this trigger so that whenever a report is run, it saves the sql report, user and when there was ongoing at the table?

"" I have a SR Oracle open, I asked this in two different ways, but they keep coming back to a canned response of "If the user does not do file-> exit, it will not save their session for the statistics of table... blah blah blah."

I hope that I am sensible in what I ask.

Thank you.

Kind regards
Jerry

Hello

I have never found the stats of discoverer to be very helpful for some of the reasons you gave.

I see that a trigger EUL will do what you want that unfortunately there is no trigger to open document. In order to obtain information, you must rely on the user to save the workbook.

An option that you can explore is to use a policy of (fine grain access) DBMS_FGA to audit certain discoverer query statements. For example, you can add a FGA strategy at the EUL5_DOCUMENTS table that selects records all on the table. This will show that users open the workbooks that you have in the EUL. Or you could add a policy to the tables/views used in the audit and discoverer workbooks then selects it with a condition of audit to audit only the discoverer sessions.

How to do this depends on exactly what you want to audit.

All software manufacturers either support only for a limited period, or a specific number or requests.

Win requires a minimum of 10% of free space to work properly, so 7.5 GB free would mean a 75 GB HD, which I doubt is the case.

  • People are leaning more towards VMFS or RDM these days? What YOU're running and why?

    Hello world

I know there is a wealth of information on the subject and the standard response is to use both... whether you want array or snapshot level vm, etc..

However, my environment is staged, I did some torture tests, tests of backup and restore. I'm almost ready to go wild p2v, but I'm still on the fence about the places where use RDM vs. VMFS. I'm running a cx500 and I was bitten by a flare code bug earlier that caused corruption unnoticed in my clone BCV we were using for backups - what was going on FOR the MONTH up to what we found out after we met weird with a cloned Oracle instance anomalies. From there I never did trust snaps or clones on the side of the table. On the other hand, I like the features of sleep to a vmdk.

Looks like there are great benefits to go especially with VDR VMFS and similar tools push up. BUT... There is always this weird feeling relying on these vmdk files. Just curious to know what percentage of vs. VMFS, RDM people are running and why you personally and absolutely chosen RDM vs. vmfs.

    Thanks in advance.

As we are ISCSI worldwide 3.5 we directly glued to the MSISCSI on virtual methods, it was for reasons of performance 3.5 with no MPIO

4.0 worldwide we are leaning toward VMFS functionality set and the behavior of an interruption of SAN are advantageous for us and now with MPIO, we see large absolute performance of VMFS

  • Change Assistant - "all agents must be running and sending impulses...". »

    All,

I met a problem tonight with change Assistant that I am struggling to overcome. I have a single server instance running (HCM91FP2, 8.52.09, Windows 2008R2, MSSQL - Tools Web of DB, App, on the same box). I need to apply patches and I can not change Assistant work. When I go and you try to view the environment it is said that "all agents are running and sending impulses... before the beginning of change Assistant". This is a single server version, so there is only one of.

Here's what I've done for troubleshooting:
    -Configuration of the Agent Checked:
    hubURL = http://XXX:8081/PSEMHUB/hub
    agentport = 5283

    -Check EM Hub configuration:
    hubURL = http://XXX:8081/PSEMHUB/hub
    agentport = 5283

-Free all the usual caches for EM Hub and approx. Restarted everything.

-Introduced the hub EM first, there is a nice clean screen displaying the URL.

-A the Agent of EM. It gives this error at the start, I don't know if it's related or not:

    D:\ps_home\PSEMAgent > StartAgent.bat
    Sending "com.peoplesoft.emf.peer:id" pulse = 3
    Adding attributes PSAppHome: - > d:\ps_home
Main EMF_CATEGORY ERROR - unexpected exception caught while instanciating an mbean
    null
    Adding attributes PSAppHome: - > d:\ps_home
Main EMF_CATEGORY ERROR - unexpected exception caught while instanciating an mbean
    Sending "com.peoplesoft.emf.peer:id" pulse = 3
    Sending "com.peoplesoft.emf.peer:id" pulse = 3
    Sending "com.peoplesoft.emf.peer:id" pulse = 3
    Sending "com.peoplesoft.emf.peer:id" pulse = 3

There is just an entry when viewing Employment Hub URL, and the agent is running, the correct IP ETC.

-Change assistant. It pings OK, but the view button gives this error "all agents must be running and sending impulses... before the beginning of change Assistant".

I have other environments on the same combination of app and tools (same OS and DB level too).

    Anyone have any bright ideas?

    Thank you

    Duncan

What of the thrown error: unexpected exception caught while instanciating an mbean. Have you tried increasing the logging level? Open % PS_HOME%\PSEMAgent\envmetadata\config\Logconfig.properties. You can search log4j.rootLogger = info and replace 'info' with debugging or overall.

  • client machine go where the report was run

    Hi experts,

I want to see the name of the client computer that a user has run a report.

EUL5_QPP_STATS has qs_created_by (the user who executed the report), the qs_doc_name (the name of the report), the qs_created_date (delivery status date). But I could not find any column for the name of the computer.

Reports are running in the desktop version of discoverer 10.x

    Thank you

    Hello
What wrote Sutirtha Roy is a good solution, but it's only for the time of the session is still open.
As soon as the user disconnect the discoverer then the session will be closed and removed from sessions v$.

If you got active audit so that you can use the audit tables to find the terminal or the machine that a certain user
    used in a given time.

If you have not enabled on your Audit DB then I don't think it can be done.

  • Several virtual machines are running, but are not in stock

    Hi all

I hope that someone has experienced this condition and can help.

    Here's what I have.

I have 13 VMs (Windows-based) I did some tests with the help of EMC RP DR. All servers in a group to ensure consistency with the two LUNs. I was able to failover of the environment on the site of copy and then restore to the original location.

However, today when I didn't return the case I lost 4 virtual machines.

-J' have 9 virtual machines I see in vCenter Server

-The virtual machines that I've "lost" are running, and I can connect using RDP, but they do not appear in vCenter Server

-Virtual machines are in their records in their data warehouses. When I find the appropriate folder and try to add to the inventory, the option is grayed out. Which suggests that the VM is saved, but when I search I do not see the instance.

PowerCLI command revealed that the two Mas I have 9 powered on virtual machines. Like I said all 13 virtual machines are running.

I asked each his vmInventory.xml of the host in the cluster file servers registered on all hosts are 9 instead of 13.

I have not disassembled the DS during operations of RecoverPoint failover, power off just the virtual machines.

Fortunately, this environment is not in full production, but which is the right thing.

Someone at - he encountered this rather odd situation.

If relevant, Bay storage is EMC VNX and access is any block.

    Kind regards

    no problem you are welcome!

  • How to solve this error change Assistant? -all agents must be running and sending impulses for applications...

I have a problem with the wizard to change and could not find a solution for it.

When I go and you try to view the environment it is said that "all agents are running and sending impulses... before the beginning of change Assistant".

Here are the steps I followed:

    -Configuration of the Agent EM: hubURL = http:// < localhost >: 80/PSEMHUB/hub agentport = 5283

    -Configuration of the Hub EM: hubURL = http:// < localhost >: 80/PSEMHUB/hub agentport = 5283

-Bring the PIA first without any problems.

-Bring EM Agent and get this error:

    Main EMF_CATEGORY of error - error reading cookies.xml cookiesrules.xml

    but he sends impulses anyway.

-Configuration of the load change Wizard and ping to the host. OK, but the button results display gives this error "all agents must be running and sending impulses... before the beginning of change Assistant".

Someone knows how to fix this?

    Thank you

I had this happen a few times.  I work around this problem, but don't remember how (probably to do the cleaning agent and hub or maybe it was CA).  I think that once, I didn't have the time to screw with it, so I worked around it by pointing to a different HUB that already existed.

How to find what processes are running on my computer and use it from memory?

You can press Ctrl-Shift-Escape to see which processes are underway and those who is using memory (and how much they use).  Although the memory usage is not as important as how they use lots of CPU, which is what can make your computer slow if there are too many programs use the CPU at the same time.  For memory, even if she says that he uses a lot, an inactive program ' pages on "memory to the hard disk and it frees room for other programs to use, is not as important as the CPU generally (unless you are very very low on memory).

  • If I use XP as a server and I'm an admin, I can see what programs the workstations are running?

I want to know if employees use a computer for games & online communication.

I don't know exactly what you're asking.  If the workstations are running programs that are located on your server, then Yes, you can see which files are open on your server:

Right click on 'My Computer'-> manage-> System Tools->-> open files, shared folders

If you want to see the processes that are currently active on other computers, you can use a tool such as "PsList.exe" that can produce a list of active processes on a computer connected to the network, given that you have administrator credentials on the other computer.  PsList is a program in the suite programs PsTools:

    Three main points:

    1. 91 processes can be a little more that some people, but it is not an unusual or unacceptable number.

    2. I strongly recommend * against * trying to improve performance by disabling the process. IFT is very difficult to know what it is safe to do so, and for most people, it is more likely to cause problems to fix in the / and even if you're lucky and don't cause any trouble, your performance will likely get no better.

    3. it is difficult to know for sure what your problem is, but your description of it makes it sound like it is most likely that you are infected with malware. What anti-virus and anti-spyware programs do you run?
