Turn on FTP

FS8600

How do you turn on FTP in enterprise manager 15.3.1.300?

manual says to go to NAS - file system, maintenance tab and turn it on. But there is no maintenance tab?

Checked that it appears as expected - you need to check that your FS8600 is on version 5.x

Click on the NAS in the left menu, click on file system, go to the interview on the left menu that is located in the main window, and then do the internal tab within this Maintenance window. Scroll down until you see FTP protocol.

    Hi all

I hope someone can help me with something that I'm trying to set up. I have two computers, a Yosemite running and the other running snow leopard. My Snow Leopard computer stays at home and is connected outside some hard drives that House many of my files. I would like to be able to access this computer remotely by using my machine of Yosemite.

I have VNC & Viewer Server and was able to correctly configure those through port forwarding on my router. My problem with this method is at the time when I have a bad connection, this will consume too much bandwidth, because it's a visual interface. Ideally, I would like to use Cyberduck or any other FTP client to connect to my computer for Snow Leopard and just have a list of files and folders in front of me.

So, I turned on FTP access in the sharing pane of system preferences, but of course, the only address it lists is the local 192.168.0.10 subnet address. Now, I thought maybe I could just use the port to VNC Viewer works and access it that way, I opened. For example, if my IP address is 68.146.XXX.XXX and the port, I opened is 1234, then I would connect via FTP using these credentials.

This does not work, unfortunately. I'm looking for, so you all to see if anyone of you have some advice on where I am wrong and that I could do to make it work.

    Thank you!

DO NOT USE ftp in this way.  It is much too precarious.

Use SFTP instead via system preferences-> sharing-> remote access connection.  SFTP is SSH based and very safe. CyberDuck must manage the SFTP connections.

Configure the redirection of port port 22.  Make SURE you have a secure user account password.  Easy to remember and type, but make it long like all things being equal elsewhere plus a password is much more secure than a short complex password.

If Cyberduck allows you to specify a destination port SFTP, you can cut down on script-kiddies probe the well-known ssh port 22 trying to connect to root (they make, even if the root is not enabled on OS X systems).  This poll is just an annoyance.  Anyway if Cyberduck will allow to specify a destination port you can have your router forward a high numbered port of your Mac 22 one-way.  For example you tell you the router to listen on port 34567 and direct connection on this port to the port of your Mac 22.  Choose a high numbered path to your taste (less 65 565)

  • Problem with connecting to the usb storage to the EA4500 via ftp from the internet

I have trouble to configure my EA 4500 as an FTP server.

I followed all the instructions according to the manual, but cannot access the USB I connected tot the EA4500 of the internet.

When I try to connect my own network, everything works fine.

The configuration I have at home is as follows:

Cable modem ISP--> EA4500--> all computers.

As said, I use the EA 4500 as an FTP server.

If I install an FTP server on one of the computers on my home network and transfer the correct port on the EA4500 for this PC everything works fine and I have access to the internet. Unfortunately, it won't work when using the USB plugged into the EA4500...

    Any help would be great!

    TIA!

When you go to the EA4500 configuration page, have you enabled the FTP server function?

When I set mine up, I have was go the section when you set up the USB (shares, etc.) and turned on FTP.

In the security of the router Security tab, I uncheck the 'Block anonymous Internet requests.

I do know for sure that you have to uncheck this box, but I always turned off this box, just out of habit when setting up a llinksys router.

In any case, this is what I did and it worked fine.

The only other thing I can think is... Your modem is perhaps a nat router. And you have the EA4500 operating on a different subnet. And your modem may possibly be block it.

What is the brand and model of your modem.

  • EA6500 FTP security & server problem

I'm fairly knowledgeable about computers, but still learning my way around networking.  There are two ethernet cables to come to my house with optical fiber connections high speed.  There is a router on both of them and I have therefore 2 WI - fi networks.  I have a 2 t HD Seagate attached to the EA6500. Access to records is enabled and I have a name of user and password set up so I can see the drive of all my devices.  It is mapped as a network drive on a window 8.1 machine and a Windows 7 laptop.  I'll try to set up a ftp server on one of them, but when I'm at the EA6500 last week, I discovered that he has built in ftp server.  I turned and tried to open a session.  I tried networks as well as the 4 g network on my phone.  4g just give an error, but the connection request came when I was on one of the networks.  My credentials have been accepted, the ftp screen came, but no drive and no file.  I spent an hour for most useless on the phone with Linksys support, but have learned one thing: when I disabled access to the records, and then the disc with all the files appeared.  However, no newspaper was asked.  Enter "ftp: / / {ipv4 address}" product page ftp in my browser with all the files revealed.  In addition, access to the files on my network was of course now disabled.  I asked the tech by the lack of a connection is required, and she told me that I only knew that the address ip so no one else would be able to see my files.  I almost called her a stupid at this point.  Unfortuneatley she seemed not very security conscious or not even aware of how ridiculous that was.  I have re-enabled access to the folder and the disabled of course ftp again.  A refresh of the page in the browser returned to the blank page of ftp.  Is it possible to use effectively the built in Server ftp securely?

Now if I'm in a remote location, I can connect account Smart Wi - Fi, will disable access to files and turn on ftp temporarily, then access my files and ftp, then backtrack.  It's a work-around that I don't like.  Someone managed using the Linksys FTP safely while maintaining access to local folders?  Also, is there a way to limit the connection to a particular username?  The customer accounts and admin (password w/router) have already been awarded to highly secure passwords, but the one I used for local access, not so much.  If I get this job, which apparently won't be enough, because it doesn't seem to be a way to make the distinction between a local and a remote user in the settings of the router.

Hold on!   AHA!  I think that I thought about it!  The correct answer to your question should have been no. only, I created a user, but I did not know that the 'actions' were added to the user by clicking on the blue word 'actions' next to my username.  So NOW, when I try it in Google Chrome, voila! I can see the files.  I turned it back off again, so I can create a combo/part of the user with a good password.  One problem remains.  I tried adding the actions first by clicking on the admin user.  Now, I don't see a way to edit the admin user to disassociate the part.  I really didn't have admin access.  I was only adding the part as a test, but now it seems that it is there to say.  Please don't tell me I have to reset the router to get rid of it.

What a pity that phone support is not able to explain on the management of stocks.  Just ask me about stocks helped helped focus my attention on the right box.  Thanks, chadster766!  I ' l count this issue resolved and leave the issue with admin for another ad if I can't understand me.

  • Active FTP connections failure through a PIX 7.2.1

I have a PIX running version 7.2.1 and when users inside try to start connections to FTP FTP servers on the outside, they can do so only in passive mode FTP and not active FTP (port) mode.

What is the best way to solve this problem?

    Thank you

You have turned on ftp inspection? It seems that the inspection of ftp is turned off allowing passive to work but not active.

  • Cannot access ftp pages

Hi, I use FF 21.0 and Win XP, sp3. I can't access FTP web pages. Unfortunately since I hardly ever use FTP, I don't know if it's pages, or a setting on my computer. I can't find where a setting in the browser can change my access to FTP sites. Should I turn on a setting on my computer somewhere? I can't navigate to one of the two sites in FF or IE. The two sites I tried to navigate into without success are:

    = > ftp://umaxcare.com

(safe hardware support site for my scanner to get an upgrade plug-in).

    = > ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/services/whql/hcl/win2000hcl.txt

                (microsoft HCL text file)

I get the "unsuccessful" page respective standard errors of loading in both FF and IE.

Can someone help me please by suggesting if I need to change a setting or to check if these pages still exist?

    Thank you!

I just tested the pages and you have the same problem. This isn't Firefox, but the pages himself.

  • How to set up ftp from windows to mac

Well I could finally update of Snow Leopard Mountain Lion... boy is ML a different animal... Laughing out loud

Slight wit learning curve all the gadgets but in SL, I could access my laptop with the ftp client, now the phone is dead, I use my desktop Mac Pro early 2008 running ML.

I can't use Filezilla to access my desktop at all. I thought that all I had to do was change the IP (we are on a router private for our House only) and it will not allow him.

I have turned on sharing files for mac, but see's gone to use ftp, I got him to go directly to the Volumes, since that's the two external I need access.

    What should I do?

You need not primitive talk between PC and Mac FTP. You can use smb: and get a much better experience. Which is set up in file sharing.

These two articles are Mac to PC and from PC to Mac:

OS X Yosemite: set up a Mac to share files with Windows users

OS X Yosemite: to connect to a Mac from a Windows computer

  • Satellite L30-115 - deleted TCP and FTP packets

    Hi all

I have a Toshiba Satellite L30-115 and a DSL connection. I have a problem with my laptop running Win XP SP2 with AVG anti-virus.

TCP and FTP packets are systematically deleted by Firewall setting or my system. I tried these tools that rewrite the registry entries for the TCP/IP protocol in Windows XP, but nothing seems to fix. Everything that affects the TCP fails systematically:
[My browser tells me that the connection was reset during any process, AVG says automatic updates failure but 1] I always got ping www.yahoo.fr and strangest of all, Skype connects properly (likely because it uses another protocol and also because it is in the exception list from my firewall).
Here is that I only have the native Win XP firewall and not others (license AVG, I've got is only to protect web, mail and virus).

Another thing is that the problem persists even when I turn off the firewall or if I play around with the settings.

    Help, please.

    Didier
