Two identical icons is the Notification area icons window
Windows8; I installed a Portable application to warn me when Windows Update was available. I have updates the value «Download but I would select to install» The program is "Windows Update notify v1.2.2". It works exactly as the author of the notification of update done in Windows7 by opening a small window in the lower right to warn you that updates are available.
Given that this program is Portable there is no way to uninstall using programs and features. He says reading about portable programs... that you delete the folder that the program created... and its autorun file and his party. I can find the file... it shows his request... I can't find the Autorun if in fact there is a. The program installed in C:\Users\XXXXX\Desktop and I can see the Zip file downloaded in the Desktop folder and the folder decompressed when you click on it shows... Type of Application.
How would completely uninstall a Portable program to include its autorun?
At this moment I have two icons for Windows Update notify 1.2.2 view that I see when I click on the box SHOW HIDDEN ICON on the taskbar and that makes no sense... they are exactly the same... certainly 2 are not necessary and I have found no way to remove one... If I keep this program installed, proposals on how to delete one of these duplicate icons?
I tried to click on enable and disable the icons... but the notification Windows Updater icon was not in the list

The default icon for the program appears in the Notification area when an application places an icon there. You would need to change the default icon.
Contact the manufacturer of that application on how to achieve this.
I hope this helps.
Thank you for using Windows 7

Volume, network and power icons disappeared from the Notification area
For no reason that I can discern, I started today and these 3 icons are missing from the notification area. I want that they come back then I right-click the notification area, went to properties and arrived at the tab Notification area. Forthose icons 3 checkboxes are grayed out and I can't select them. What is happening with this? Why? Anyway I can fix this?
