  If one of the system icons is out, you can reactivate the as follows:

  Right-click on the taskbar and select Properties. This will bring up the tab "properties of menu taskbar and start. It's where you mentioned, it is gray. It just happened when I turned on my computer this morning and had no sound and no "speaker" icon appearing in my bar tasks, like she normally does.  In addition, my notifications area icons is set to DISPLAY the volume control on the taskbar, but it does not show.  Restarting my computer did not help.  What can I do to get this to redisplay the taskbar? Fortunately, I can always manually volume by going to control panel, sounds, speakers, level and make it work, but it's too long.   Try this:

  Control Panel - device - sounds Manager - note manufacturer device name and info on the graduating model.
  Double click and get the date and version of the driver (if 06 are dates, you use the default windows driver). Now
  Click the DRIVER UPDATE (this can not find anything because MS is far behind the certification of drivers). Now LAW
  CLICK above and UNINSTALL - REBOOT - it will refresh the driver stack.

  Try these steps and check if that helps:

  ** Turn it back on. Sometimes a reboot will solve this problem.* *.

  1. close all programs and stop the laptop.

  2. remove all power supplies (battery and power cord)

  3. empty the remaining power by pressing the power on button for 30 seconds (even if you have no power).

  4. put the battery back and start the computer

  5. once fully loaded, right-click on the system tray and select Properties.

  6. This will bring to the top of the "Taskbar and Start Menu Properties" dialog box. The "Notification area" tab.

  7. at the bottom of the tab, is the area 'icons systems. " There is a checkbox for "Power". "check" the box and click on apply or OK.

  Also update your graphics card drivers.
