Two interfaces WAN ISP in the same network

Hello world

I am faced with a really simple but delicate scenario. My ISP gives me IP addresses public 2, both in the same network. They also gave me the default gateway which is of course in the same network too.

I need two fully operational ip addresses, but I realized that I can't have two interfaces (routed interfaces) in the same network segment. I have just a single router (Cisco 2911). A friend told me that I might be able to set this up using VRF, but as far as I have read, there is no way to use VRF to achieve this.

Is it possible to use two (or more) ip addresses to redirect traffic to the same default gateway in the same router?

Thank you!

Miguel

Hi Miguel,.

If you want just your 2911 have set up two public IP addresses, you can set one of them as secondary IP address. Suppose that 192.0.2.1/29 is your default gateway, and 192.0.2.2/29 and 192.0.2.3/29 are your IP addresses. So to have both configured, you'd:

interface Gigabit0/0/0 ip address 192.0.2.2 255.255.255.248 ip address 192.0.2.3 255.255.255.248 secondary
And voila - that should do the trick :) Best regards, Peter

    Hello

We have configured on VPN site-to-site ASA remote network 192.168.1.0/24.

New requirement is to set up the new VPN site-to-site (additional) tunnel which also has remote network 192.168.1.0/24.

Will this work 'out-of-the-box"with ASA - ASA will know where to send the traffic based on source AND destination IP address?

Or it will not work and we will have to use double NAT to establish the new tunnel?

  • Two Macs can connect to a URL, another on the same network may not

So far, I can connect this behavior to a unique URL only - but of course, it's an I need to get in order to save some software on this particular machine.

I emptied the cache, flushed the DNS cache and checked that I use valid DNS servers. It isn't Safari, chrome this brings. Two Macs reached the URL without any problem, but this new model Mac Pro simply will not reach it and traceroute expires after a few jumps. All three machines are on the same network, all three use the same DNS servers. I rebooted several times.

All three Mac running the latest El Capitan. The two reach the URL are a MacBook Pro and a Mac Mini Server.

    I'm puzzled.

Please note that a traceroute on all three machines reveals the slowdown even at the same jump in the chain, but only the Mac Pro seems to have trouble with it.

  • Two VLANs in the same network bubble?

    Hi all!

I do not know very well of networking, and don't know my VMware network guy, so I hope that someone here might be able to answer my question. Thank you!

I'm testing the conversion of some of our production servers. Since they have the same name, they are all in a bubble of network on the same host. So I have a vSwitch called "Bubble Network Test" which has several virtual machines, but who doesn't have an uplink (no associated physical map). So far, this has worked very well. So that users to test, I also have two XP machines to also live in this bubble. However, we will have performance issues. In our test of D/R one a few months ago, we found that the application performed very bad when the customer was in the same VLAN as the server; change the client to a VLAN different fixed performance.

So, I would do it here in the hope that it will improve performance. However, I do not know how to do it. Can anyone offer any tips/advice on how to have more than one VLAN in the same network bubble? I have to make two vSwitches and then connect them somehow?

    Thank you!

As long as you stay internal to the ESX Server then Yes you will need virtual switches - you will have then a virtual machine that will span two switches, acting as a router routing traffic between VLANS.

  • Two tacas server on the same network

    Hi all

Is it possible to have 2 radius server on the same network, if the first authentication server fails,

Then, the other will be the auth?

    Thank you

Of course, is. Simply configure your network devices to switch to the alternate server if the first is not available.

  • Practically in segregation a virtual machine within the same network

We have a VMware ESXi 5.0.0 (504890) host that has physically 4 network cards. We run 3 VMs on that host and turning a new config. However, this new virtual machine will replace our old Windows DC, DNS, server DHCP etc., and we'd like to config it before going live - will not perform us a migration of swing. We are a little worried that it can interfere with our direct network and that's why I would like to somehow almost segegrate it.

For the moment, we have a single vSwitch0 linked to all our VMs and management card:

    vSwtich0.png

What is the best way to do this so that our new DC (with the same domain name and within the same network) can be configured without it interfering with the current network.

    Thanks for your comments.

    Hello

You can create a second vSwitch without physical network interface cards. Create a VM Portgroup on this vSwitch.

You can configure your new virtual machine to use the Portgroup. So, he won't have any connection to your network.

The good thing is, when you want to test things with a customer, you can create a second VM and configure it to the same VM portgroup on the second vSwitch.

Two virtual machines on this Portgroup can communicate with them because the traffic is handled internally by the host.

  • 2605dn will not print from a computer, but another computer on the same network print very well.

The two machines running Win 7 64 bit, both on the same network (such as a printer) all with cable connection to the local network. A single machine prints fine, but since a few days, my PC will not be printed on the printer. PING and TRACERT it is correct, and I tried removing/reinstalling the printer several times. Using the PCL6 driver, as well as a specific driver for printer have same results.  Anyone else having this problem?

After almost 12 hours of continuous hair-pulling, finally ran across the solution on a Microsoft forum site: it turns out that the problem was a recent update of anti-virus software (McAfee, specifically) who changed the firewall settings.  Can't seem to get the AV software allow constantly to the printer, but temporarily disable the firewall in the AV software has solved the problem.  (the other machine running another AV software package)  I have to just be careful during this 15 minute period.

Anyway, if you have a similar problem, make sure to check the firewall settings.

  • Photosmart Prem C410 all-in-one: our laptop and printer AiO are on the same network, but laptops can 'see' printer

Our two portable Windows 10 both our Photosmart Prem C410 AiO printer are connected to the same network (as evidenced by checking the name of the network of all 3 devices).  We were able to connect between laptops and printer without problem (printing, scanning, etc.).  A blow, or laptop computer can "see" the printer.  I uninstalled and reinstalled the printer on two laptops, but when I enter the IP address of the printer as part of the installation process, I get the error message (on computers) "your printer is not found on your wireless network.  I used the wireless Wizard connect to the printer, restarted the wireless router and restart the two laptops... the IP of the printer stays the same every time and laptops and printers continue to be connected to the same network named.  Help

On the printer's wireless radio was 'on' but I clicked OK anyway.    Disconnected and reconnected to the network and noted the address IP of the printer had changed.  Laptops are now able to see the printer.  Problem is solved.

  • BEFSR81 with WRT54GS to the same network?

I currently have a LinkSys BEFSR81 connected to a cable modem that I need at least 6 ports wired to my home network.  I also have a WRT54GS which is currently unused, but I want to add to the network so I can have both wireless connectivity.

Assuming that it is possible, what is the best way to combine the two units in the same network?  The simply connectable WRT54GS downstream of the BEFSR81 via one of the ports open?  I guess I'll have to change the IP address of the wireless device for individually accessible for configuration, check status, etc.  All the other things I have to do?

    Please notify / thank you!

I found the solution in a previous post, sort of.  Here's what worked for me:

    (1) connect direct PC to WRT54GS

    (2) turn off DHCP and change the WRT54GS IP to 192.168.1.2 (192.168.1.1 for the 'master' BEFSR81 vs).

    (3) save changes

    4) activate wireless, configure security, get access, etc. on the WRT54GS code

    (5) save changes

    (6) re - connect the PC to the original port BEFSR81

    (7) connect the ethernet on BEFSR81 port to a port ethernet on the WRT54GS (NOT the Internet port)

    (8) to enter the code in the WiFi device and make the connection...

  • Multimedia file sharing only works if the two devices are connected using the same protocol

    So I'm frustrated!

I spent an hour trying to get my Windows 7 computer to share my music with my XBox 360. I have two machines on my network, one connected by Ethernet to the router and the other connected by WiFi. I tried everything I could find online to get the WiFi connected machine appears in the "Music Player" on my XBox system - follow all sharing, make sure that my router has UPnP, restarted a bouquet of services, etc..
Nothing! During this time, my machine connected to Ethernet was watching me in the face. He has appeared on the XBox without problem. I started to compare the settings on both machines and found no difference.
Then I remembered, boredom, I had setting up WiFi sync for Windows Phone my wife. In fact, it was this session of troubleshooting that lead me to put this machine on the WiFi in the first place! Seems to set up WiFi sync, Windows Phone and the target of the machine must be, not only connected to the same network (obviously), but for some reason any the $ @$ crazy, both connected by WiFi. I just connected this computer by WiFi - not happy, a faster speed with my wired connection - and immediately fixed the problem itself.
Then, remembering that, I moved my XBox WiFi network and - presto - my second machine appears without a problem.
    My question is... WTF! ???
This is ridiculous - this is the same network! Why things must be connected using the same protocol?

    Hi, Edward Petersen,.

Please contact the Microsoft community. I'll help you solve the problem with sharing music using media sharing.

Some routers isolate the cable connections and wireless, you can check if you have the option in the configuration of the router to share media

If the problem occurs, you can contact the router manufacturer for assistance.

  • Advantages and disadvantages of the use of the same network card to the network management and production (all my virtual machines) VLAN?

What the disadvantages are to do?

    Can you help me please?

Well well, in this case. This is a perfect case of SPOF, try to reach NIC teaming to avoid this.

At least two cards physical network is necessary in your hardware ESXi host to do.

How I find myself with two passwords to iCloud for the same account?

For security reasons, I only use iCloud for Contacts and "find my iPhone".

Several months ago Apple forced me to change my password to iCloud.  So I did this.   In the last months, I used successfully the new password to 10 or 12 times when asked without problem.

However, I received a notification of a software update for my Apple Watch. I did the update without problem. However, after completing the update my iPhone asked me to connect to my iCloud account. When I did this, she rejected my password. I made 4 attempts typing very slowly and with care for you sure I did it right.

Then, operating under a hunch, I decided to enter my old password to iCloud. It worked?  I'm confused about this, any ideas would be appreciated.

I had a similar problem last year. I had to call Apple. Contact is a bottom of this page.
