Typing in different URL opens in a new tab.
When I want to go to a different Web site and I type in a new URL, it always opens the URL in the new, different tab.
I wanted to open in tab I typed in there...?
Can I change this or is it just a new feature to update to firefox that can not be changed?
Thank you!

When I click on a url, it should open in a new tab; why it opens in the same tab?
I have my preferences of Mozilla implemented so that whenever I click on a url, it should open in a new tab, but every once in a while, Mozilla goes on the fritz, and open the new url IN THE SAME TAB! I checked my preferences, they are always well positioned. I checked the tools: Options: general: tabs: open the new window in the tab instead. and when I open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately. If it is always well positioned.
What Miss me?
That preference refers to links that are coded to launch in a new window: start them in a new tab instead of a new window.
Unfortunately, there is no adjustment for the links that are coded to launch in the same tab to start them in a new tab instead of in the same tab. You would need an add-on for that.
Normally, I would you recommend checking out Tab Mix Plus as the 'Swiss Army knife' tab features, but lately, it has a small bug so it has not been last updated in recent days, could you hold off on using it.

Open in a new tab or window does not work. How can I fix?
I just upgraded to 36.01. When I right click on a link in the menu of options is long and confusing. When I select open in a new tab or a new window, it does nothing. What can I do to reduce the list of options and how to fix him open a new tab or window option?
Create a new profile as a test to see if your profile is the source of the problem.
See "create a profile":
- http://KB.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a profile already used in the new profile, but be careful not to copy files corrupted to avoid transporting more problems.
Try a clean reinstall and delete the program folder before Firefox to (re) install a new copy of the current version of Firefox.
- Download the full Firefox installation program and save the file to the desktop
https://www.Mozilla.org/en-us/Firefox/all/
If possible to uninstall your current version of Firefox to clean the Windows registry and settings in the security software.
- Do NOT remove the "personal data" when you uninstall your current version of Firefox, because this will remove all profile folders and you lose personal data such as bookmarks and passwords including data profiles created by other versions of Firefox.
Delete the program folder Firefox before installing newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
- (32-bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
- (Windows 64 bit) "C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla.
- It is important to remove the Firefox program folder to delete all the files and make sure that there is no problem with the files that were the remains after uninstallation.
Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and will not be affected by a uninstall and (re) install, but do NOT delete personal data when you uninstall Firefox which removes all Firefox profile folders and you lose your data.
If you keep problems also create a new profile.

I just created my bookmarks bar with my URL more often used. However when I click on a URL of my toolbar bookmark, it opens in a sidebar on the left on my main screen and not in a new tab. The sidebar is heavy, because I have to scroll to see the entire screen. How can I get the URL to open in a new tab, not in the sidebar?
Opening in the sidebar is the default action for bookmarks created via a "Mark this Page" link or button on a Web site. Make sure you use many methods to "Bookmark this Page" located in Firefox instead.
Right-click on the bookmark and select Properties, then turn off the preference for the load this bookmark in the sidebar, and then click Save.

When reading WSJ online (which I do every day), I read specific articles of each summary page opening in a new tab, or I use CoolIris Previews. Recently he has begun to take up to 60 seconds to get the new tab or the preview.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance).
- Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode without failure.

If I was looking for the lyrics of a song on google, a lot of different links to appear. I used to be able to click on the link and it will automatically open in a new tab. There is more to this. How can I change the settings so that the links will open in a new tab again?

Before you go to 7.0.1 the default 'open windows in a new tab' option only would do to target = "_blank" links and functions JavaScript which did not specify the new size of the window. If an included JavaScript function size in the characteristic attributes, a new window would open again for a proper display of the new content.
Since the upgrade to 7.0.1 on Mac, however, all new window links open in a new tab tested on two different Macs and confirmed in the subject: config values have been defined as follows:
Browser.Link.open_newwindow = 3
Browser.Link.open_newwindow.restriction = 2No problem here on Linux to open these windows pop up in a new window.

See the question
You can change a hidden preference to make the search results from the search (top right) to open in a new tab bar:
- type of topic: config in the location/URL bar and press the Enter key
- on the caveat, promise to be careful
- Filter = browser.search.openintab
- in the lower panel, double-click that preference to switch the column value true or false (see below)
- value =true open search results in a new tab
- value =false (default) open search results in the active tab

How can I get the new tab to open all the way to the right of the tabs old when I use the link open in a new tab?
Set the pref browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent false on the subject: config page.
To open the topic: config page, type Subject: config in the address bar (address) and press the 'Enter' key, as you type the url of a Web site to open a Web site.
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access this page.
You can use the filter at the top bar of the on: page config to more easily spot a pref. -

It was when I clicked on a bookmark, a new tab was opened. I did something, but do not know what, so now he opens in a kind of bar on the side of the thing (a smaller part of the tab, I was on). How to reset the bookmark to always open in a new tab without having to do it manually with a right/select click?
«... now it opens in a sidebar...» »
Open the properties for this bookmark and uncheck load this bookmark in the sidebar.
As much as to have bookmarks always open in a new tab - see the extension mentioned in the first answer.

I select a bookmark and it will open in a new tab not even though I have selected
I selected the option to open the bookmark in a new tab, but it does that
Hi, as far as I know, bookmarks cannot be opened in a new tab automatically. However this add-on - Open bookmarks in a new tab will do it for you.
Alternatively, you can click the mouse wheel. Or, right click > open in a new tab. Or, hold down the Ctrl key when you click.
Hope that helps.
