  Hi all,

  I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro U500 with one small problem, the size of the LCD screen is reduced. I have a white border to the right and down. The max resolution is 1024 x 768.
  The problem is visible also when I enter the BIOS, so I think that the problem is not Operting System drivers.
  Is there a solution to my problem? I have to send in the audience?

  I U500 and default display resolution is 1280 X 800 t, so I understand why you have 1024 X 768 on your U500.

  Each laptop model comes with preinstalled OS and webcam should work fine.

  I guess you want to do a downgrade to Windows 7 64 bit for Windows 7 32 bit. Right?
  Well, the question is why you make such a downgrade because 32-bit is more obsolete because it supports only 3 GB of RAM.

  Satellite Pro U500 belongs to the series of PSU9CE and are therefore no drivers on the official page of Toshiba. So in my opinion, you should always use 64-bit Windows.

  As far as I know Toshiba always test their drivers or updates tools before they will be released and I have never had a problem with the new updates, so I think that the problem is lreated to your laptop, maybe something wrong with your installation.

  In General before you start the update of the BIOS you have to decompress all the files in archive zip and launch the update as an administrator.
  Also make sure that the value added package is installed and no firewall is not blocking the update program.

  I found specification for laptop Toshiba page HERE , but I can't find this info. This model of laptop is obviously without touchscreen.

• Question sleeping on all new Satellite Pro U500-1EX

  Hi guys,.

  I have a new Satellite Pro U500-1EX with Windows 7 64 bit.

  The laptop is having some problems with its function of sleep. I wonder if others have had the same problem - and if anyone knows anything that can be done.

  OK, there are two questions;
  1. when the laptop enters sleep mode - it will come out it its own after a while. He goes to the login screen and wait about another hour before falling asleep. That's when it is plugged into the power - and no LAN.

  2. when I close the lid to put the laptop into standby - and while on battery - after awhile he will supply any. Connect the power supply won't do anything - the power light not at all - which suggests that the laptop don't even note not be plugged. I have to then remove the battery and turn the computer on (thus losing all the data that I had when I put the computer to sleep!).

  So, have you seen this issue with your satellite pro? This is something common and being ignored - or y at - it an easy solution for it?

  I have the Satellite U500 also but I can t notice any question about fashion 'sleep'. It works perfectly with an OS preinstalled Toshiba and the latest version of the BIOS. Then perhaps you need to update the BIOS as suggested Timox.

  Before you begin the update, close all running programs (also, AntiVirus and firewall), make sure you are logged in as administrator and do not stop the computer being updated.

  By the way: you use the preinstalled operating system from Toshiba?

  Please help me with this query I have.

  I just bought a Satellite Pro U500 with Windows 7 installed. I also have a TOSHIBA Windows XP product supplied with the laptop recovery DVDs. Was told I could downgrade to XP with the DVD.

  I want to install Win XP in addition to the existing installation of Windows 7 on a different partition, I intend to create.
  Can I create a create a separate partition and then use the recovery TOSHIBA Windows XP product DVD to install Win XP on it?

  Am just worried I might spoil the on the laptop's recovery partition?

  Basically, I want to be able to run the current Windows 7 and Win XP on my machine and want to know the best way to do it without damaging the existing TOSHIBA recovery partitions.

  I want to use the recovery DVDs TOSHIBA Windows XP product to install XP on a new partition with windows 7 OS.

  + downgrade to xp + means that you are not allowed to use your win7 installation any longer...

  ask problem "dual-boot":
  burn a DVD restore *, choose from the start menu

  After that, you can choose partition wich you like "sacrifice" for xp and install it...
  XP can't 'see' the install of win7, but you need a Boot Manager to boot both systems (xp is crushing the win7 boot code)

  or you go the other way:
  installation of xp and then install win7
  This has the advantage that win7 offers you the ability to boot xp from the bootmenu.
  in both options, you lose the hard drive recovery!

• Satellite Pro U500 will not load

  Hi all

  I have a little used old U500 of 2 years, and I am puzzled.

  A few weeks ago I noticed my light on and it would not charge battery charge.
  I didn't watch the charger light on the transformer - which was lit, so ended up paying £20 for a battery note that it would not yet of course load wasn't a bad battery.

  On the plug-in transformer/charger light showed green so I guess then it must be a faulty Jack inside my machine because there was able to get out the transformer plug / the green light is on.

  Today I disassembled the machine and I have replaced the plug connector on the motherboard - no problem, it starts and it is not yet taken on a charge. I have spent £30 on this piece of cr@p so far, should I now buy a new cable from charger etc?

  I have a faulty plug/transformer - despite the green light showing that is powered or is there anything else I can try?

  The charge or power on my laptop light is lighting up.

  Help, please!

  I would be really surprised if someone here would be able to tell what's wrong with the laptop, I doubt that this is possible without test equipment and execution of some hardware diagnostic tests.

  I don t think that the power adapter is faulty. As I understand you, the laptop features and you can use it plugged in. This means the AC adapter to power the laptop and this means that the adapter is ok.
  In General, you should be able to use the laptop, even if the battery is removed. So in my opinion, it seems like that the question must be related to electronic on motherboard problems because the new battery does not solve this problem of load

  By the way: it's your BIOS up-to-date? Would be interesting to check this

• Satellite Pro U500-10N drivers and utilities Toshiba Windows 7

  Windows 7 has been on the market for at least a year. And I can't believe it, there are only * 4 * drivers to download to a Windows System 7 x 32 bit (for 64-bit system there is * 145 *). When you install this system on U500 some drivers and almost all the Toshiba Utilities disappeared... and there is no place where you can download it from...
  Can you, team support, please do something about this issue? A lot of people would be extremely grateful for that.

  If you want to discuss with the team of assistance you should contact Toshiba hotline and explain the situation.
  You are right. Win7 is long on the market, but it doesn t mean that laptop manufacturers are supported on both versions (32 and 64 bits) for all models of laptops.
  Fact is that most old models of laptop computers come with Vista are supported for Win7 32 bit but all new laptops as your U500 are mainly supported for 64-bit version only.

  Global trends in computing, mobile computing and software development move forward and it is important to have systems always better and faster. This is the reason why all best sellers of cell phones offer more platforms with 64 bit OS only.

  To be honest I put t think that Toshiba will provide support of 32-bit for U500.
  I U500-1EX touchscreen and use original BONES I had with.

  My stops U500 - 18 k read the SD card. What SD card SD icon Windows explorer see, but when I am clicking on the icon, to get the message 'Please insert a disc in SD (J) '. I tried to read the 8 GB SDHC cards. The maps are certainly working. With MMC and XD card reader works well.
  I reinstalled utilities SD and card controller driver Richon. This does not solve the problem. OS Win 7 x 64. Any ideas?

• Satellite Pro U500 - no backlit keyboard to the United Kingdom

  I bought a few HPs for my staff and they have gray keyboard lettering that i cant get on with so I thought I would buy an another Tosh. Chose the U500-18 t and surprises - gray lettering.

  Then, I find that she is supposed to have backlit kb. The UK version has the same design of Ko in the rest of the world, but not backlight - unreadable result on something else as a well-lit room. They did not bother to put the white lettering. Cheap or what. Then I called Tosh to buy a new KB and they were quite contrite.
  So I ordered a Ko of replacement of the United States. I'm pretty happy with the American provision. Question - this is going to work?
  Fn - Z key will still work. The KB is same go to work? Can anyone help?

  From laptops while with the "Touch Pad on / off Utility" to control the touchpad "start/stop" button located just above the touchpad, I accidentally uninstalled it and can't find it in the list of drivers.

  I noticed that there is a version of XP but not the version of Windows 7.
