  • Get Windows 8.1 DVD or ISO for a one year old, but just bought new HP 23-f213w

I got this amazing touchscreen all-in-one computer to Walmart the other day, closing on I suppose, at a great price.

His new brand, but was made a year ago.

    He had 8.0 on Windows.

I activated it had to do 99 updates and then improved to 8.1

I did the recovery DVDs (which will be for 8.0) and the recovery usb disk.

Question: I should not get a copy of the last version with this new purchase?

It will be a big nightmare to go through recovery with what I have.

Or is there any other way I can create a full recovery on an external disk file using a program 3rd party?

    Any suggestion is appreciated.

I'm having a blast with this touchscreen computers giant. Only 2 BSOD so far!

    Thank you. Bo Barry

    Hi Bo Barry,

You had two BSOD using 8.1 to win. They could be caused by a hardware driver issue. If your PC has been stable running Win 8 hardware of your PC is probably OK.

Have you installed Win 8.1 update 1 using Windows Update?

You will not receive a copy of Win 8.1 HP or any OEM. HP can't stand that the installed operating system factory (Win 8.0).  It's good, you've done a HP Win 8.0 disk recovery set.

8.1 win provides useful backup tools.

You can create a Custom Refresh Image that can be used to cool your PC. This custom image will set your PC to the State in which it was when you created the image.

You can also create a System to an external drive to backup image and then access the image using the USB Microsoft recovery disk you created.

There are also quite a few 3rd party apps to create pictures on an external backup: Acronis, EaseUS, Paragon, to name a few. There are free versions limited and full payment for the versions available.

  • ISO for Ubuntu 14.04 (and 16.04) for Linux-based Dell laptops

    Hello

I just got my 5510 precision with pre-installed Ubuntu 14.04.

I noticed that the installed Ubuntu on the laptop is not a vanilla Ubuntu distro. For example, there are a few other DELL specific apt rest added to it. Or it has preinstalled recovery disk creator app, etc..

I created a USB recovery already, but what DELL hosts this OEM ISO slightly modified for the Ubuntu somewhere on their servers for download - in case someone loses the recovery media and requires the download somewhere?

I also noticed that DELL specific rest for 16.04 are already on the rest of Ubuntu (dell.archive.ubuntu.com/.../xenial). This means that 16.04 is good to go now for my laptop?

And if I want to clean install 16.04, DELL provides an ISO to measure with their rest file apt already pre-configured and extra apps pre-installed?

    Two other questions:

    • Additional measures that I have to do if I want to install Kubuntu 16.04 on my 5510 precision? (eg. What rest apt I might add?)

      • Better yet, DELL provides personalized Kubuntu ISO files?
    • How well do Fedora works on these machines?

    Thanks in advance.

I have this laptop (precision 5510, 32 GB of RAM, i7-6820HQ) for a week and everything I've done so far are optimizations (Windows/Ubuntu) and always the computer behaves so slow (compared to all laptop I had before). It gives me a bad feeling. For that price I expect that all work seamlessly.

The start-up time takes 8-10 seconds (and I'm not the only one with this problem. (Check here).
Until I have for Windows/Linux, I need to wait for another 20 seconds.
Each application starts with a slight delay (~ 1 second).
Resizing of an application is a slow process.

    My BIOS/drivers are up-to-date.
    In Ubuntu (16.04, 64-bit):
    -J' updated the kernel to 4.7.5 - 040705 (before that, I tried 4.5 and 4.6)
-the Nvidia driver is now on version 370.28 (before I tried also 361.45, 364.19 and 367.44 370.28)
In Windows (Pro 10, 64-bit), the same: the latest drivers are installed.

I thought that maybe there is a problem with the SSD, and you can read here my question. No response.

I really don't know what else to do.

Someone at - he already created an autoinst.iso for a minimal Ubuntu - 64 bit - bootable EFI?

I need a minimal installation of Ubuntu that starts from EFI and already started firmware to patch the WS11 created autoinst.iso to make it work for the MBR and the IEF.
Not trivial... in order to cut some time... maybe someone has already done something similar and has a lot to build the iso with windows-binaries?

    Thanks Ulli

First problem solved: got a bootable EFI autoinst.iso-, but use it creates new problems.
Then, the installation fails to detect DFU... so it is clear that the preconfiguration file that creates a WS does not work as it is...

No sense to continue what others - it is much simpler change iso original installation so that it installs silently.

    Hello

    Looking for recovery discs?

You can buy parts from Sony recovery discs and accessories team:

    https://servicesales.sel.Sony.com/Ecom/accessories/Web/contact_us.jsp

    Authorized Sony parts distributor:

    http://eSupport.Sony.com/us/Perl/support-info.pl?info_id=927#place_order_9

However, this computer comes with recovery software, in a hidden partition. The recovery discs can be created using VAIO Care if the recovery partition is available. The steps are listed on the link below:

    https://us.en.KB.Sony.com/app/answers/detail/A_ID/35865/c/65%2C66/kW/35865

Alternatively, you can perform system recovery using the key "F10". Restart the computer and keep pressing the F10 key. If you are able to access the recovery partitions, follow the instructions to restore the computer to factory settings.

Press button to start edit, select start Recovery Wizard option and click on skip VAIO Care rescue (if you do not want to back up data) to start the system recovery process.

Problem is that the file that you downloaded is not the player but just an update.
Usually, you should be able to install player designed for Vista and install this updated level, but eventually I can see, Toshiba doesn't offer HD DVD player for Vista 64-bit.

I assume that your laptop comes with Vista 32 bit only. Am I right about that?

I had done to make sure that they corect but the OS does not stand up.

Maybe someone has a dvd with recovery for Toshiba Satellite L350 16 L VISTA HOME PREMIUM and could send it to me.
I'll pay for the delivery. Or someone could share the son through the internet.

    > 3 days ago, I bought Toshiba laptop. I did two recovery discs and I decided to try to install Vista from recovery disks. I had done to make sure that they are correct but the OS does not stand.
    What do you mean exactly?
Have you created the disk recovery successfully or not?

I mean if you have successfully created the recovery disc, then you should have this record. Is this good?
So, what exactly is the problem? You are not able to boot from that disk or what?

By the way; the recovery disk must be purchased on the internet as you mentioned.
The recovery disk is protected by copyright and therefore it s not not allowed to share or copy.

  • control of noise at high ISO for 600 d

What is the iso maximum 600 d supports without too much noise?

Absolutely... actually lower ISO is better.

Don't forget that if your subject is not mobile AND if your camera body is not mobile, then you can keep the shutter open as long as you want.    You really need to increase the ISO for moving subjects or for the shot at hand.

F stops higher (f/11, f/16... or even f/22) will increase the "depth of field" so that your images contained more in short... before back when shooting landscapes.  There is a problem known as "diffraction", which can slightly soften an image taken at a very high f-stop SO really enlarge you your images and inspect closely... but especially you wont notice it in commonly used for display on a computer image sizes or anything that you do not plan to put them in a large frame and hang it on the wall.
