UCS Manager release Upgrade Advisor

Hello

We have a UCS with UCS Manager 2.0 infrastructure (3) output and vSphere 4.1.

Now, we would like to improve our infrastructure to vSphere to version 5.1. Taking into account the fact that 2.0 (3) UCS Manager does not support vSphere 5.1, is it interesting in the UCS Manager upgrade to 2.0 (4) or 2.0 (5) compared to upgrade to the latest version 2.1 (1)? I think the stability, or maybe other reasons...?

Thank you

Yes - all build train which is more mature (ie. more frequently patched) must inheritly be more stable.  When you introduce new features, as there are a lot of difficulties in the case of 2.1 added after that we discover strange things visitors try to do with the product.  It is impossible to QA a product for each customer & deployment disparity.

If you don't need the new features, specific HW or SW OS supports, then stay with the current 2.0 train.  It's just more mature than 2.1.  We should have our first 2.1 patch temporarily to come in a few months.  At that point I would start to promote the 2.1 as being the more stable & recommended version.

Kind regards

Robert

  • Upgrade of the UCS Manager

    Hi all

I have my UCS Manager and I need to do an upgrade, my question is the VMS, I executed what I need to move them from one device to the other? or I can do the upgrade with no downtime?

Can someone give me a procedure on how I do this?

    Thank you all.

    Hello

An upgrade is usually done in two parts:

    (1) infrastructure (IOM, UCSM, fabric interconnection networks)

    (2) blades (BIOS, adapters, CIMC, Controller Board, Flexflash, etc.)

During upgrade infrastructure, you will need to restart the fabric connects one at a time. When you make one of your two fabrics will be down for about 20 minutes. If you have redundant vNIC/vHBAs in all of your tissues A and B, it should ask only degraded services in the environment. However, a maintenance window is always recommended. When you upgrade the blades, you will need to restart. This is probably where you should move your virtual machines. After that you upgrade the blades make sure you update your OS drivers as well!

  • UCS Manager logon box Java problem

I'm testing Java 7 update 55 with the UCS Manager to verify that all features working. When I opened UCS manager connection poster box but I noticed that the 'Domain' option does not appear. Without it, I can't choose between LDAP or local authentication.

Someone at - it solved this problem with versions of Java (more recent than the 45 update)?

    Thank you.

You can upgrade UCSM whitout put to rest, but the supported configuration is to have UCSM, fabric and IOM (which is included with the 'Infrastructure package') running the same version...

Now you can just upgrade the infrastructure bundle and check 'Table 2' both of the links below to confirm compatibility with the Server Bundle (bundle Server = MMIC, BIOS, adapter card controller, etc.) to see what you pouvez/may not combine:

  • Catalogue of ability in Cisco UCS Manager 2.2(1b)

Client is running UCS manager 2.2(1b), new leaves, we installed in the existing chassis, we get RAM warning as "f0502" improve us the catalog for 2.2(1b) and active catalog. The error still exist. Please advice on this error.

Upgrading the catalog must be 2.2(1b), or we can improve the catalog to the latest 3.0 version.

It depends on which the blade that you have loaded now and the memory module that is in the new blade. See section catalogue of ability to http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/unified_computing/ucs/release/notes... for modules of memory included in the current version running. If it is included in any catalogue of higher capacity version, you can switch to any catalog version 2.2 (x) and it should be good.

Hi Ruckman, I am the program manager for Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.

Stock, 2 1/2 hours is no design! It is also quite rare. Please, if you can send your file %TEMP%\WuaDiagnostics.log * address email is removed from the privacy *, we might be able to determine what the problem was.

We certainly don't want your analysis to take that long and want to solve this problem for the future and for others!

  • Error UCS Manager Console KVM to open after Java Update

After the upgrade to version 1.7_21 Java I tried to access the KVM console from within the UCS Manager (v2.1 (1 d)) and get the error message:

"Cannot run the program"C:\\Program": CreateProcess = 2 error, the system cannot find the file specified."

I tried to remove installed applications and applets as well as temporary files from the Java console inside, but it does not solve the problem. We also tried to launch the console KVM in KVM Manager and that works very well. Everything works correctly when you run Java 1.7_17.

Everyone knows about this problem since upgrade to 1.7_21?

    Thank you.

In the meantime, you can install Java in a directory path that has no space to work around the problem. For example: c:\Java\jre7

This will give you access KVM again.

  • Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor will work (unexpected error)

My Vista Machine won't work for Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor. It is said he "encountered an unexpected error" (not too informative, huh?) and advise the relocation, which does not.  Or no tweaking startup with msconfig and disable my antivirus/firewall. The program is in the "zone of confidence" anyway. How can I get a handle on this problem?

Here are a few advanced WMI troubleshooting you can try.

    1. on Windows XP Pro and Vista, run the two separate commands to
recreate the Windows Management Instrumentation database files.

NOTE: Under vista, there must be run from an administrator command prompt commands

    1. click on start and type CMD
    2. search for 'command prompt' at the top of the window and right click / Select 'run as administrator '.

type controls 2 successively, hitting enter after each one.

WMIC \\root path "__espacenoms '" delete

    mofcomp %windir%\system32\wbem\wmi.mof

    2. If the problem persists after trying the above steps, save the
WMI DLL files with the steps below.

    1. click on start and type CMD
    2. search for 'command prompt' at the top of the window and right click / Select 'run as administrator '.
    b. type the following commands one by one, and then press ENTER at the end of each
    command:

    CD /d %windir%\system32\wbem
    for %i in (*.dll) do RegSvr32 %I s
for %i in (*.exe) do %i/regserver
    for /f %s in (' dir /b * .mof "" ') do mofcomp %s
    for /f %s in (' dir /b * .mfl ' ') do mofcomp %s

Note: The WMI Tester window may appear, it is
normal and we can move forward to close.

Let me know if this helps, please also indicate any error you see in the above process.

  • The UCS Manager LDAP question

    Hi guys,.

I was wondering if anyone could help with a weird problem that we seem to have met with our UCS Manager.  We set it up to use LDAP authentication for log on which works very well for four of the five members of the team, but we have a user that although it is in exactly the same groups as the rest of us continually gets unautheticated errors to the user.

We did the habit of checking that it is not his machine or installation and in the newspapers that it even does not save an attempt to log on default so not sure what I can check any thoughts would be much appreciated!

We use UCSM v2.1 (1e) in case it's relevant?

    Thank you very much

    John

I ran into the same issue.  Has proved to be a bug in the firmware DN was too long.

    CSCth96721

It is more a limitation of 128 characters for the number of units of organization or the length of the distinguished name (DN) when you use LDAP to Active Directory authentication.

  • UCS Manager of port feeder error

    Hey members,.

I use in this critical error on my UCS Manager. Member of San 1/12 of the Port - Channel on interconnect fabric A is down, subscription to the bottom.

It worked before. After an upgrade if this message began to appear. Someone has an idea?

    Hi Mark,

Is your switch upstream a SDM or N5K? (Fabric interconnects UCS--> MDS / N5K?).

    If so you are more likely to fall on a known bug that I've linked below;

    https://Tools.Cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCty04686/?reffering_site=dumpcr

    To help me to check if it is the bug on your fabric to interconnect and switch upstream could you run the following command;

    Setting wwn Show

    If your output is then as says the bug you will be running in it;

    XX:xx:00:2 has: 6a: XX:XX:XX

    OR

    XX:xx:8 c: 60:4f:xx:xx:xx

Work around this is to update your MDS or N5K switch. This bug is due to the fact that upstream switch does not recognize codes MAC YES fabric interconnects. Since the Port of SAN-channels is a Cisco proprietary technology must be able to recognize it so that it works correctly. Once that you upgrade your switch upstream port-channel should continue to function normally.

  • FMW: Portal Upgrade Advisor - confusing info on JDK in WLS Installation Guide

Post this thread on behalf of Charlie - technical contact at one of the customers drivers Middleware sites:
    Concerning
    Dan Mortimer
Oracle - main Technical Support Engineer
(Expert in the field of life cycle)

Charlie sent me the following e-mail:

NOTES about the Upgrade Advisor in
Oracle® Fusion Middleware Installation Guide for Oracle WebLogic Server 11 g Release 1 (10.3.4) Part Number E14142-05

Looks like there may be a confused statement in Chapter 2 on «jdk previosly» installed

"A JRE is packaged in the 32-bit Windows and x 86 Linux installation programs"

    Chapter 2:

Before you start the installation program
Before starting Setup, verify the following information:

If you install the software in graphics mode on a UNIX or Linux machine, you must set the DISPLAY environment variable before you run the installation program.
If you use an installer of the synchro .bin file, replace JAVA_HOME with the installation of the JDK supported location you have installed for your platform.

    ...

    [Then goes on to say]

    Functions of the base directory

The directories in the home directory of Middleware vary according to the installation program you use and the products that you have selected for installation.
For example, WebLogic Server Setup creates the directories and files listed in the table below if you have selected all the components for installation.

Table 2-4 Directory Description for Middleware House

    Directory or file Description

    JDKVersion

This directory contains the software for the JDK from Sun, if it is installed with your software. The JDK provides the environment to run Java (JRE) and tools for compiling and debugging Java applications.

    Good suggestion. Thank you.

  • Windows 7 upgrade advisor, Vista, says that Firefox must be uninstalled before the upgrade and that I won't be able to reinstall it, is it true?

I'm currently running Vista, 32-bit. I am considering upgrading to Windows 7. I ran the report Upgrade Advisor and he said "Mozilla Firefox 20.0.1 must be uninstalled before the upgrade to Windows 7. You will be able to reinstall it after upgrading to Windows 7. "This seems inaccurate info, based on the Firefox site, but I want to check what I have to do before you start the upgrade. Leave Firefox installed and in place when I update or uninstall and reinstall then after the upgrade?

Hello herplaw, you're right, this doesn't look good - firefox will work fine on windows 7. I leave it installed and to proceed with the update. in any case (if you need to reinstall it later), you can also save personal information that is stored in your firefox profile before continuing: back up and restore the information contained in the profiles of Firefox

  • HP Pavilion & "Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor came across a problem.

Windows 7 would work on my laptop (HP Pavilion dv6132eu)?

So I used "Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor" of the Microsofts. Which caused the error "Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor stumbled into a problem that your scanning devices. Upgrade Advisor needs to be able to scan your devices to determine whether your computer is capable of running Windows 7 ".

The laptop is probably not good enough for Windows 7, why?

I assumed, the Upgrade Advisor would tell me, what pieces of hardware is / are not specific to Windows 7.

In a forum Technet, say, the Adviser is blocked by some HP hardware. Which?

    Best regards, Willem

    My problem has been resolved.

Previously, the problem with "Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor BETA.

I waited two months - now, I executed the Adviser again, resulting in "an important upgrade".

And guess: update Advisor works like a rocket, finishing with a nice report with minor problems.

So I think that the problem was a "Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor" - problem - not a HP computer laptop-problem.

    Hello

I see a long list of drivers that need to be updated: O
But I m not surprised because all the drivers of Toshiba pilots and as far as I know these drivers are designed for only the WinXP. Request as a result of update.

But as you may know Vista is not official on the market and that's why you won't find any Toshiba Vista drivers on the Web site.
I think that Toshiba will offer drivers if Vista will be official on the market.

    We will have to wait
