Unable to connect my Linux Machine database

Dear all,

Hope you will be fine.

I'm having a problem to connect to PL / SQL Developer with my database available on the Oracle Linux virtual machine.

I have a windows 7 installed on my PC, I have installed a virtual machine and install oracle 11g on this machine. I have a database named orcl on this and I am trying to connect to the database with my windows machine. I assigned ip appropriate to both computer and created under the setting mentioned in my tnsnames.ora file. But when I go to connect it shows error ORA-12203: TNS: unable to connect to the destination. Please guide me where I am doing wrong so I'll do it properly.

ORCL_11G =

)

)

(CONNECT_DATA = (SID = orcl)

)

)

Kind regards

Atif Zafar

Thank you all for your help. I solved this problem by mentioning the HOST in listener.ora and tnsnames.ora files. In fact, I have to assign the static IP address of my Linux machine and unfortunately not to mention the IP address in my two files. It is show HOST = localhost this is why it is forbidden to connect with the other machine. Now I connected successfully and it works fine now.

You mention linux machine IP here.

    6. of course RMAN commands have failed to restore the missing data file;
    So I renamed the file to original and rebooted repeat services applies - this restore the data file and now the configuration state of the DG is normal.

    Not quite sure if I'm still he hands the right way or if the error above is related to RMAN not able to synchronize with the physics of the day before.

    In 10g, listener can dynamically register a database. In your server listener.ora file you did manually. A particular reason for that?
    What is the result of lsnrctl status on the server where this testdb? You see service testdb in the summary?

  • Unable to connect to the Access database

    Hello

    I have already spent a lot of time on the problem connecting to my Access database and does not know why it won't work at all.
    Here's the situation:
    I use Dreamweaver CS3 with Access 2007 on a computer running Windows Vista (with IIS 7.0).

    While my connection to the database is running on a Windows XP computer, it will not work on my vista computer! It still fails the test in the BD OLE connection window

    Did someone come on this problem before? Help, please!

    See if this helps:

  • Unable to connect to the local database (without using the tnsname)

    Hi guys
    I have 2 database running on the local computer.

    Db1 SID - orcl (install 1)
    DB2 SID - unicode (later installation)

    Today I stop the basic unicode and stop its respective services.

    on the back
    I did a sqlplus scott/tiger, I got an error
    ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error

    That's why
    I did a
    Set ORACLE_SID = orcl

    and I still get the same error.
    -------------------------------------------------

    So I'm the other way around. I orcl database stop, stop its services and database unicode to START and its services.

    I disassembled the ORACLE_SID environment variable.

    Now, I have in the command prompt
    sqlplus scott/tiger

    I am connected to the unicode database!
    -------------------------------------------------

    Now I ORCL stop unicode data and start...

    and I have a
    sqlplus scott/tiger@ORCL...

    I HAVE no problem to connect to it...
    --------------------------------------------------

    May I ask why should I provide the TNSname ORCL database and I do not for the UNICODE of the databases...
    Both are local on my database.

    What's wrong?

    Moreover, I am on XP.
    Thank you!

    Set ORACLE_SID = orcl
    sqlplus / as sysdba;
    sys@ORCL > exit

    Set ORACLE_SID = unicode
    sqlplus / as sysdba;
    sys@Unicode > exit

    Well, we know that both your DBs are working properly.

    So out of curiosity, I did cela tests...
    (1) connect the two database and stop
    (2) stop their services
    (3) start only ORCL service
    (4) close and reopen the command prompt to delete the var of environment ORACLE_SID

    sqlplus / as sysdba;
    Error: ORA-12560: TNS: Protocol adapter error

    (5) now I stop service ORCL
    (6) (and I start the service of UNICODE)

    then I deliver

    sqlplus / as sysdba;
    sys@Unicode >

    It seems quite normal. In your registry value ORACLE_SID is, most likely, unicode, the last created: check it out, and if so, you can connect to unicode DB without setting ORACLE_SID, while you will need to set to connect to DB orcl.

    When you have more than one DB, you set the ORACLE_SID environment variable before connecting either you use connection strings.

  • Unable to connect to the SQLite database in 9700

    Hi all, I have created a dt application dynamically retrieves data from a database stored locally Sqlite the strange thing is that this application works correctly on my 9800 and a friend 9930 but every time that the use of this app on 9700, it is impossible to connect to the database.     DB = DatabaseFactory.openOrCreate (myURI);
    } Catch (Exception e) {}
    If (db == null) {}
    Dialog.Alert ("unable to Access database');
    }

    Is there something on the 9700 device that I don't know? Because this code works on other devices... Help please.

    Finally, I discovered that it does not give the error if the database is stored on an SD card maybe 9700 does not support access sqlite on the memory of the device. Thanks for trying

    You cannot connect with JDBC ADF Mobile to a remote server - security settings will not let you do this.

    The right way to retrieve data from the remote database to a Mobile application of the ADF is through web services.

    You can use JDBC in ADF Mobile to access an SQLite local database on the device. See the example of HR that comes with ADF Mobile.

    What don't you understand?  You can not connect Dreamweaver to CPanel.  He does not like it for security reasons.

    You need a local test server and the database that DW can connect locally.

    When you have finished the construction & test your website locally, use phpMyAdmin to export your local SQL file.

    Then go to phpMyAdmin of your remote server and import your SQL file into the database of your server.

    Your Production/source/target database must be in an OPEN state & your new/clone/auxiliary instance must be started/no mounted State.

  • Unable to connect to remote oracle database!  Help, please!

    Hi all-

    I am a new user Oracle and you are allowed to access a remote Oracle database, however I have problems with the installation/configuration program! I downloaded the driver Oracle and the Instant Client (11.2.0.2.0) because I need to use Microsoft Access for the data access (the Access database is already configured to the correct Oracle database). I'm under the impression that, to do this, I need to be able to use the ODBC Administrator to get all set up. Note: Im working on Windows XP.

    I have questions:

    -I don't seem to have installed Netca (which seems to be the recommended method to configure a connection). I have manually adjusted the TNSNAMES file. ORA file so it matches the database, but I'm not sure what would be my next step.

    -When I open SqlPlus it wants a username and password, and I tried the default settings and got an error each time. I must first use SqlPlus, or establish a connection via ODBC first?

    -Also: ODBC requires a TNS Service name, and I'm not sure, where this is established; something that would give the database manager?

    I really just do not know how to configure this remote connection! I continue to run with obstacles and really want a reference "step by step" on the way to do it, if there is such a thing. Any help or additional reference material would be appreciated! I ran by the content of the forum, but have not been able to decode the jargon! Thank you very much in advance.

    MsMonroe wrote:
    Hi Ed-

    I use the Oracle's ODBC driver. I think there may be a problem with the TNSnames file because I tried to add this file as a"Data Source", and he also said that a connection could not be established. What do you mean by the MS implemented? A configuration of Data Source?

    By MS implemented, I was referring to the MS ODBC for Oracle driver, against the Oracle ODBC for Oracle driver.

    The "source of data file' has nothing to do with the tnsnames file. The ODBC Manager retains its DSN definitions in one of three places. "User DSN" is stored in the HKEY_LOCAL_USER registry, the "System DSN" definitions are stored in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE registry and 'FILE DSN"definitions is stored in a file... I don't remember exactly where or what it's name is as I have (when he is forced to deal with odbc) just keep things simple and use "system dsn". But these aren't all the definitions of ODBC, Oracle tnsnames file.

    The link between the ODBC DSN and the tnsnames.ora presents itself as a property of the ODBC definition. Suppose you have this for a tnsnames.ora entry:

    houston =
      (DESCRIPTION =
        (ADDRESS_LIST =
          (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = vmlnx01)(PORT = 1521))
        )
        (CONNECT_DATA =
          (SERVICE_NAME = orcl)
        )
      )

    Then
    -When you set up your odbc dsn, if you use the MS for Oracle driver, you must specify 'houston' as the 'server '.
    -When you set up your odbc dsn, if you use the Oracle odbc driver, you must specify "houston" as "the TNS Service name".

    >

    Im going to try to post a modified version of the content of my TNSnames.ora file (for some reason any the "content is not allowed ' by the forum), but I would like to get some comments on whether the structure of the content may be the problem.
