Unable to connect to internet on laptop using the router wireless netgear WGR614 v9 and windows 7

My office that I use as my host computer running Windows XP. I have a wireless network works on another laptop also on Windows XP, but cannot get a connection on the second laptop that is running Windows 7. Just bought from a friend. I appreciate any help you can give. The laptop has a Wi Fi sticker on it, so I guess he has the ability to connect. When I try to connect, it will ask me a security key. I put the safety key in and it said possible key is not. Don't know what else to do. If I run an ethernet cable from the modem and connect it to the laptop, it will allow me to connect to the internet.

Thank you

Hello

Look in the Wireless Manager and delete everything that is there.

http://www.ezlan.NET/Vista/wireless_manager.jpg   (Control Panel, network and sharing Center. Upper-left click Manage wireless networks.

After cleaning, connect from taskbar tray wireless icon.

Given that your wireless network is more in the preferred list, it will prompt for the password. Put the password that is current, and if all goes well it will connect.

If the password does not work the newspaper to the router with a cable and restore the password.

    Hi Jer9009,

Welcome to the Microsoft answers site.

    ·         Could you give the exact error code or error number you get?

To connect multiple computers, install a network adapter in each and run a network CAT5 cabling to connect each one to a hub (and thus the other.) The computer that will serve as a transition will have a standard network card for wired and a wireless network adapter that will connect to the wireless (WAP) access point or gateway on the second network.

A network bridge is software or hardware that connects two networks or more so that they can communicate. You can create only a single bridge network on a computer, but a bridge can handle any number of network connections.

  • When my XP laptop uses the internet connection Wi - Fi on Linksys, it's very slow

I have a Linksys Wireless G.  I had windows Vista on my desktop, I went to windows XP. Before the switch, I got my Linksys with a single blue cable of the Linksys modem on my desk, with connecting to a port that resembles a big port connection telephone excellent internet connection.  Now with windows XP I have to use two cables to have internet connection, one for the port I have described and a blue cable to the USB port.  With this configuration, when my laptop is used for the Linksys Wireless, the internet on my desktop becomes very slow, does not arrive before the move to windows xp.  What should I do to return to the blue cable connection on my desktop?

You shouldn't have a USB connection.  In fact, most of the Linksys wireless-G routers I know have even a USB connection.  Then the other end of the "blue cable to the USB port" connected to?  If it's your Linksys router, what is the make and model of this device (look at the label on the bottom and includes any version number).

And why connect this USB cable in the first place?

I recently installed McAfee Total Protection on my laptop.

Unlike the Windows Firewall, many third-party firewalls (such as McAfee) manage outbound as well as inbound traffic.  Make sure that the firewall is configured to recognize your LAN as a "trusted network".

I can't tell you exactly how to do this because McAfee is not user guides for its most recent products available - you can use the built-in help of the product for the guidance system.

    Say hello to new raj_sach.

You have to call Comcast and ask another router.  This model is known to have many questions.

If you take a look at the job for the router (click here), you can see that it supports up to Windows 7.  This means that all users on Windows 8 will have an update of the firmware (even if you have Windows 7, I wanted to report it).  ARRIS published an update that solves a number of problems with this router - but it will not work on the version you get from Comcast.  This means that Comcast will have to release their own update to solve problems.  You can see on this site on the site of Comcast that this router is known to have problems.

You can see similar problems in this article and this thread.

Contact Comcast immediately and ask for a new router.

    Have a great day!

  • Wireless cause: the network connection from the laptop to the router, but internet access comes and goes through procedures to 'fix '.

The Dell laptop I bought is little used, not refurbished a downsizing Corporation.  I bought a refurbished by Cisco, Cisco Linksys router.  I can't stay on the internet for any period of time.  At the time that I open the browser, after the wireless connection, it goes your 'connected' to 'no internet access.  If I go through the diagnosis and fix it, it says I'm connected, but 'no Internet' returns quickly.  It shows a diagram of the connectivity of the laptop to the router but not to the internet router.  I had a second router refurb sent, and it does the same thing.

This is all new to me (wireless and mobile), so my words my being turned off, but I wonder if it might be the wireless card, or network card (or is it just a different name for the router).  I mean, it's something in the laptop.  If I plug the DSL directly into the laptop, I have a perfect internet connection, so I did not thing is my provider.

    Any help/suggestions appreciated!

My issue was with the ATT modem not set to fill mode.  modem was not accept what he said was the router.

  • Unable to connect to a network or to the Internet on my Dell XPS1530.

Unable to connect to a network or to the Internet on my Dell XPS1530. When I try to diagnose problem, I get a message that reads "Network Diagnostics cannot run because the Diagnostics Policy Service is not running." Having exhausted the patience all the phone with my IP and Dell, which tells me that it is a problem of Microsoft software. I have two other computers and a PS3, and I am able to connect to the Internet through one any of them. The XPS works under Vista with SP2. Can someone help, please? Thank you.

Go to start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Services and go to diagnostic policy Service and set it to automatic and start it.  If it does not start, check the dependencies and make sure they're too automatic and rnning.  Then see if you can run Network Diagnostics.

You can get in trouble with your device drivers.  Go to Device Manager by going to start / find and type Device Manager and enter and then double-click on the program icon that appears.  Check each device to a red x, yellow! or white?  These identify devices with problems probably (drivers, but also of conflict or something else).  Click on each for more details and troubleshooting tips.  If you need to get drivers (and you should get those developed to date for the network card and regardless of the device you use to connect (such as a router wireless or such) and all you have time to do - they can help way beyond simply solve this problem), let the computer dealer or the manufacturer of the device (NOT of Microsoft Updates).  In fact, you must disable automatic updates in Windows Update driver as follows:http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/how-to-disable-automatic-driver-installation-in-windows-vista/. Follow these steps to get the drivers: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/ht/driverdlmfgr.htm.  Once you have the drivers, you can install them via the Manager device as follows:http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/193584-device-manager-install-driver.html.

When I'm in a lke your situation, I usually start from scratch.  Create a new network connection by ensuring that all settings are correct.  Check all the cables (if there is).  You have already reinstalled the drivers - make sure that no firmware or software is also necessary.  Configure the network sharing settings and make sure that you are ready to discover the network and such.  Check other computers to see their settings to make sure you get yours right and essentially the same thing (the same exatly so is another Vista machine connected in the same way).  Go to start / Control Panel / Internet settings and make sure that it's too fixed properly.  To connect, then try again. If this is not the case, remove some time to cool down and then start again with another new connection.  It's almost certainly a parameter that is not correcct (something no doubt very simple).

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • Is it possible to connect my Mac mini to my Mac Pro laptop using the memory on my mac mini for installing software Ableton as I don't have 3 GB available on my Mac Pro.

Is it possible to connect my Mac mini to my Mac Pro laptop using the memory on my mac mini for installing software Ableton as I don't have 3 GB available on my Mac Pro.

I want to download Ableton software, but it requires 3 GB of free memory that I have available on my MacPro laptop not because most of it is used for my library of music because I'm a DJ.

I'm not sure how I can do it or not at all.

    Thank you very much.

    1. a Mac Pro is not a laptop. Its a big desktop computer.  You probably have a MacBook Pro, which is a laptop.

    2. No, you cannot share the memory (live RAM) or storage (disk space, which is not memory) like that between computers.

However, it is very very bad practice to have so little storage space available for your computer.   If you have less than 3 GB, you should seriously consider an external drive. and unload some files on the outside. Its best not to leave your hard drive to go below 10 GB of free space because it can seriously affect your computer's performance.
