Unable to connect to internet on my windows xp service pack 3

I went to my programs installed and removed a lot of things. It turns out that I also deleted the ethernet adapter software and now I can't connect to the internet. I have run the command prompt and reset the ip address, because the Messenger told me I got an invalid ip address, so I ran network diagnostics who told me that I have had no network adapters installed (which I deleted) and told me that I could not make an http connection, https connection, or an ftp connection. What should I do? I sent this through my phone.

Do you have any media CD with your computer?  If so, it is possible that the driver for the network is on one of them.  Otherwise, you will need to use a computer which can download files and save them to a portable device like a Flash (thumb) drive (unless you can download a file using your phone and transfer it to your computer).

Go to the site of the manufacturer of your computer, search support/downloads using your model number and download the driver for your network card.

If you can't find it in this way, open the Device Manager (start > run > devmgmt.msc > OK) and look at the entry for your network card (which probably will be marked with a warning icon).  The brand and model of the adapter should be listed there.  You can then go to the manufacturer website and download the driver.

For laptops in particular, however, it is best to start with the manufacturer of the computer rather than the manufacturer of the card where the computer manufacturer had the right equipment.

Once you get the driver, transfer it to your computer and install it.  There should be a 'Readme.txt' file or instructions on the download page that tell you how to proceed with the installation.

    Method 1

Start your computer in a clean boot

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Try to install the service pack.

    Method 2

    Method 3

Reset the contents of Catroot2 folder / rename the software distribution folder

Reset the contents of the Catroot2 folder

    a. type the following commands and press ENTER after each command:

    ·         net stop cryptsvc

    ·         MD %systemroot%\system32\catroot2.old

Important When you use this method, the following problems occur:

    ·  Updates that are currently downloaded but which have not yet been installed must be downloaded again by using Windows Update or Microsoft Update.

    ·  When you remove the Software Distribution folder, your download history is deleted.

    ·  If you currently receive updates from Microsoft Update and Windows Update, you will need to reselect this option from the Windows Update Web site.

Note If the problem is resolved and you can successfully download and install the updates, you can safely remove the SoftwareDistribution.old folder to recover disk space.

Restart the computer and verify if you are able to install the Service pack.

    Method 3

    ·         Select the check box next to the program that you want to turn off DEP for and then click OK.

    ·         If the program is not in the list, click Add. Navigate to the folder Program Files , search for the executable file of the program (it will have the .exe extension) and then click Open.
