  I use Windows Media Player 12 on Windows 7 Home Premium OS V..  I was rip CDs to this computer for years without any significant problems and have hundreds of CD in MP3 format in my library of music.  When I recently tried to rip a new batch of CD, the albums were coming all up as 'Unknown' album & artist, "track 1, track 2,... and follow n for the titles of the songs."  After the investigation period, a pop up window would come saying "Windows Media Player cannot download information on the media for this CD... "What has happened to WMP and how to fix it?

  Extraction of Windows help you put above mentions the example files.  You can see the music library by going to WMP, organize, manage libraries, music - this shows you the places [records] followed by the music files on your PC.  If you remove all of these files that you deleted from your library.  In other words, the library is the content of the file collection music of watched folders.  The library must exist for CD ripping to happen.  This is what means the entry using Windows.  In addition, you must always leave at least one folder in the watched folders list even if you are not using anything because it may be difficult for Windows back nothing.

  Like others on this list, I can't rip cd after downloading Service Pack 2. After 20% of the first song is torn all the entries go in error without any indication of which is the mistake.   -In this folder, rename the folder Media Player as Old Media Player . If you do not see the folder, then it is probably hidden. Set Explorer to view the hidden files and folders and show protected system files.

  If you click the cd icon in wmp and select find album info"in the drop-down list box, it should implement the alternative versions (if it is a widely available drive) or you should be able to narrow down the search yourself.
