RIP error in Windows Vista Media Player

Like others on this list, I can't rip cd after downloading Service Pack 2. After 20% of the first song is torn all the entries go in error without any indication of which is the mistake. I tried to erase the files and restart as indicated, but this does nothing to solve the problem. My son, who is a programmer, also spent 2 hours on the problem using various forums, tried all mentioned and was still unable to solve the problem.

In WMP, please click the error next to one of the tracks, and select Error Details . What is the full text of the error message?

If you use WMP to simply play the CD, that always works?

You can try to reset the library. Note firstly reset the library will make you lose all play counts and ratings too. Then, follow these steps:

    -Restart the PC.
-Click Start, type services.msc in the search field and press ENTER. In Services, locate the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service . If its status is started , double-click the service, and then click stop .
-Click Start, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft in the search field and press ENTER. This folder opens in Windows Explorer.
-In this folder, rename the folder Media Player as Old Media Player . If you do not see the folder, then it is probably hidden. Set Explorer to view the hidden files and folders and show protected system files.
-Launch WMP, your library will have been reset and will be rebuilt. Check if the problem persists. Tim Baets

    Hi Michaelgdr,

    1. the problem occurs with all videos?
    2. What is the file format of you play it?

I suggest you to reduce hardware acceleration for windows media and (if supported) graphics card player

I suggest you to make Windows Media Player as a default player.

Try to reduce (or turn off) video hardware acceleration by doing the following

    a. open Screen Resolution by clicking the Start button, click Control Panel, and then, under appearance and personalization, clicking
    Setting screen resolution.

    b. click Advanced settings, click the Troubleshooting tab and then click change settings.

Note that some video card drivers do not allow allows you to change the settings.

    c. move the hardware acceleration slider toward none to reduce or turn off video hardware acceleration.

  • Update of Windows Media Player stopped because it made my computer slow and now can't copy a CD

The constant update of the Player Windows Media caused me go into options and uncheck the library update that didn't work so then I went to the library to manage and delete music files, photos, videos etc, which made the stop of Windows Media updated, but now I cannot rip CDs and an error message saying "Windows Media player cannot extract one or more tracks. the CD"that has occurred only since I took these actions.  I tried to back up my library, but the program I Include leaves nothing or I don't need to put in place the correct files.  Help, please!

    Hi Imogen...

Updates to the WMP library can slow performance, but if you want to extract the music you need to have a default save location which will usually be the music folder.

Under 'Organize' - managing libraries - music - click on the 'Add' button and restore the 'music' (or my music) by default and then click OK. The library must rebuild. Come back if you're still stuck, however. -Cheers, Ric.

  • Windows Media Player stops briefly at the end of each song. How can I fix it?

While playing songs in Windows Media Player 11, it stops briefly where every song is almost over. I think that it also makes a noise like a stutter, then it stops, then it starts again. How can I fix? What seems to have had a problem I've had in previous versions as well.

As a first response, try to run these troubleshooters [those of "BOLD" seem the most relevant].  They will reset your Date last played info & info sides as these parameters are in the WMP library functions.

Control Panel, troubleshooting, hardware & sound, troubleshoot the audio recording & audio playback.

I listen to music through a Bluetooth wireless headset. However, in the middle of songs the audio stops. Windows media player is still playing and audio output continues for 10 to 30 seconds later.

also, it stops at the end of the songs and takes a few seconds with the new song to restart again.
