Unable to start up normally, or any feature of safe mode

I am unable to start up normally, and I'm unable to boot in safe mode functions.

When it does not start normally, I get on the desktop with ICONS No. nor START BUTTON.

I am operating Windows XP SP2 on a Dell Latitude D610 (Laptop).  "Cannot open Volume for Direct access.

I need advice on that.  Help, please!

We got a lot of insight.

First, you need to get your work desk in order to have room for manoeuvre, then you can solve your problem of potential malware.

What you describe is a situation where the process explorer.exe does not work (probably due to malware).  Think the explorer.exe process IS your desktop... then you must start it manually for now.  If it does not, you will have only wallpaper.

Of your background image, press CTRL-ALT-DEL and open Task Manager.

Look at the processes tab and if the process explorer.exe is not running, start it as follows:

In Task Manager, click file, new task, and in the Open box, enter:

%windir%\explorer.exe

Click OK and see if get you your office.

So if you are able to get into the Internet, follow these steps:

Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs:
Malwarebytes (MMFA): http://malwarebytes.org/
SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/
They can be uninstalled later if you wish.

Restart and see what things look like.

That alone cannot resolve, but if all goes well with the deleted malware, then PaulAuckNZ can help to mop up any problems.

  • Firefox crashes after upgrade starts and is customary in crash report safe mode Crash ID: bp-4a1fc5e6-6afb-4c5b-9e4e-47ad12130514

I can't open FF after an upgrade. The first time I tried to upgrade I had to cancel the upgrade before completing that I was called away. The second attempt went up the end OK with no error reporting. However, I can't start FF. I can't not try safe mode as if I try to open while now shift key pressed to the bottom of the screen asking if I want to open it in safe mode flashes by quickly and goes directly to the screen of the fault. Ive tried delete FF and reinstall (without deleting profile) but the same thing happens. I don't want to try to delete particular profile because I don't want to lose my history and saved passwords.

    Thanks, 17.0.5 works very well.

  • Why I can't get online in safe mode with networking? Does not start in normal mode.

I can't get my computer starts in normal mode.  It starts only in safe mode.  I can choose the mode safe mode with networking so I can get online, but that's all... just safe mode.  Can I do to solve this problem?  I don't have a lot of money and a new computer is not an option at the present time.  Any help out there?  I have also no sound.  I tried to reinstall my windows xp, but it won't let me.  I have XP Pro and SP3.

    Hello splunk2011,

Please contact the Microsoft Answers forum with this problem!

After reading your post, my understanding of the issue is that you are unable to start in Normal Mode and as such, cannot be online within Mode safe mode with networking.

Because we can start in Mode safe mode with networking, this tells us that a driver or a program from loading at startup may cause the problem.  To solve this, I would try a clean boot.

More details about this is located at the following link:

  • Error CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED in a blue screen; Unable to start the computer in Mode safe.

Original title: Critics of the process is dead

    Hello

Yesterday, my Acer Aspire given bsod with the critical error process is dead.  I am on Windows 8 and cannot enter the old f8 for safe mode to fix.
I don't have a disc of Windows 8, I downloaded Microsoft 8.  Acer not supplied with Windows 7 preinstalled, so once again no disc.  Microsoft when I asked how do to access safe mode tried to charge me $ 99 more taxes to do this.
Does anyone know how to access the mode without failure under Windows 8 in does not?
    Thank you

I usually access SafeMode in this way. Go to made CMD.exe right click and run as administrator. Then type msconfig. When it opens, go to start at the top and then click safe mode. You might be able to do this if you are able to get an installation media for windows8. There is a command-line option when you go to fix your computer. You might be able to do it here because you cannot start windows.

  • Freeze and cannot type anything, need to start in safe mode

Firefox suddenly do not allow me to enter in dialogs of a Web site, a Web site, or browse the toolbar. It just goes back to normal when I pass in 'Safe Mode '. I disabled each card add on etc, without success. Using the latest version (v15). I tried to uninstall and install without success.

Two things happened that may have contributed: installed ZoneAlarm and installed Adobe flash. I removed the two of them now, and Firefox still does not - I am now using Chrome which does not seem to suffer the same issues as Firefox - goodbye Mozilla, you have been so good to me in recent years.

An additional feature of Safe Mode, is that it disables hardware graphic acceleration. You could try in 'normal' mode as follows.

You need to restart Firefox for it to take effect, so save any work first (e.g. you compose mail, documents online that you are editing, etc.).

Orange Firefox button or classic menu Tools > Options > advanced

In the mini ' General' tab, uncheck the box for "use hardware acceleration when available.

If you restart Firefox, the problem is solved?

  • Vista Start, not even SAFE mode

I shut down my computer because I was going out of town for a week (normal shutdown).  When I came home and tried to start - does not work...  Gets that "Microsoft corporation" with the movement of the green bars, then remove the screen and sits for HOURS - there is a light that flashes on my machine, as if it is 'thinking', but never gets beyond that point.  I did F8 and tried to "repair", start of last known good config, etc etc, and none doesn't get beyond that point.  Does not start in any type of safe mode (at the same point, then just ' is).  My HP came with Vista (32 bit) pre-installed so I don't have a boot CD, so I can't even do a system restore (which would be my last resort anyway).  I have watched the current positions, but have not found one where SAFE mode (also) would not work.

I access the configuration and can get to the F8 screen, but beyond that, nothing works.  "According to me" I have disabled the 'error' restart, but do not know if the system got far enough to achieve.

Any suggestions on what to try next?  It is possible that an update was applied just before my system stop - I think that I put to download, but not until I told it, but am not 100% positive.  Also, I have Norton 360 installed if this can be relative - but of course, I can't seem to him to disable...

P.S. I'm on my laptop which was closed during the same period of time, but it came without a problem (64 - bit Vista, so perhaps what makes the difference).

It is a problem these days not having is not appropriate for work on computer diskettes.

    http://NeoSmart.net/blog/2008/Windows-Vista-recovery-disc-download/

Above is the link to do a repair disk for Vista work and information on how to do everything.

Download the ISO file, make your disc, reboot with it and try the normal repair paths.

And the system restore is different for the recovery of the system. System Restore puts your computer to a date when everything worked correctly.

System recovery is to the standards of the factory.

    See you soon.

  • Computer still starts in safe mode

    Original title: pls help!

I have a macbookair running windows7, after that a s clicked improper shutdown 'start in safe mode' by mistake. Now, it runs very slow (about 10 seconds for mouse to move from one side of the screen to the other). When I restart properly, or stop and start again, it is constantly upward in safe mode... any ideas how to solve this problem?

    Hello

    Welcome to the Microsoft community!

The computer starts in safe mode, and work slowly.

Computer would boot in safe mode if the safe mode startup option is enabled in the system configuration utility.

    Uncheck the boot option:

    Method 1:

    To disable:

    a. Click Start, type msconfig.exe and press enter

    b. now click on the Startup tab and uncheck the option of safe mode.

To work with the computer is slow:

Method 2: Run the troubleshooter of performance

    See the site:

    Open the troubleshooter of Performance

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-in/Windows7/open-the-performance-Troubleshooter

    Method 3: Clean boot

When the computer starts to boot, programs non-Microsoft will not be started and would avoid any interruption of their share.

    See the mentioned site:

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: once you are done with the boot, follow step 3 of section to set your computer to normal startup.

Note: If in case, you are connected via a connection wireless, and then when you start the System Configuration utility to perform the clean boot, click Startup and Services tab one time and check wireless see corresponding section are checked (enabled).

I hope this helps. If the problem persists, or if you have problems of Windows in the future, let us know and we would be happy to help you.

I have let it run from this morning till now they can't always find what's the problem (I'm refernce the loptop).

    > He fell faster now, maybe because its on 64-bit? (any recommendation if its 32 or 64 bit) specifications: i5, 4ram, 1 g ddcatd graphics, family win7 premium,...

64-bit operating system is better if your computer supports 4 GB or more of RAM.
Why? Because 32-bit Win recognizes max 3.2 GB, even if more RAM is available.
It's limitation of 32-bit; regardless of what OS it is; Linux, Win XP, Vista, Win7, etc.
This is the reason why the 64 bit OS are so popular in the last time

    With regard to the issue of the BONE;
    I recommend that you run a disk recovery again... This means that you need to reinstall the OS usign the option recovery Toshiba;
During the turning on the laptop press F8, choose fix my computer-> drive HARD recovery
