Unable to turn off the read-only

I tried to turn off the read-only on a folder in my Program Files (x 86) folder so I can edit a file for a game.  I tried everything I can find on the internet without success.  Here's what I did until now (I'm on an administrator with maximum permissions account):

1. I tried to uncheck the read-only box.  Whenever I close the properties and reopen, it is checked again.

2. I tried to run the attrib - r + s function cmd as admin, but nothing has changed

3. I ran a chkdsk, still nothing

4 changed property in the security properties, as well as assuring you of my account has full permissions with all of the Program Files (x 86) folder. I then tried again the first 2 steps, is always checked.

Anything else I can try?

What you need to do is Notepad opened by right-clicking on the Notepad icon and then selecting run as administrator.

Then, while in Notepad, open the .ini file.

Change it and then you will be able to save him.

  • After a fan failure, Windows is unable to turn off the fan?

My Dell laptop is more than a year and out of warranty, so I was pretty shocked when my brother took an air can to the exhaust port and overspun fan and caused his failure. I bought a fan of alternative qualified from Dell and installed with Arctic Silver costs. However, even with the new fan, he would never turn up. I was looking at the temperatures to pull it up and and eventually shut down the system without even a glance of the fan. I even pulled the fan back out and double checked to make sure that the fan would turn with the applied force (I am an EE, food is very fine-adjustable). He does.

I can control the fan with a 3rd party, i8kfan program. Problem is, the driver is not signed digitally, so it occasionally fails or it shuts down randomly.

So, how does this apply to Windows? Well, as Dell technical support doesn't help if you are no longer under warranty, they don't tell me this - here are the fan control strictly controlled windows, strictly the BIOS or a combination of both? I was wondering if the problem threw a flag in Windows or the BIOS can't disable or something. I see nothing on the fans in my BIOS (another failure on part Dells - shitty BIOS), so I hope there is something small, buried in the windows that might help.

I have no problem using the 3rd party controls. In most cases, this works very well. But there are moments when, particularly under heavy load, the program gets a lower priority, and fan just stops. In addition, the signed drivers beyond boring thing. As a little advanced Windows user, I'd love it if it could be disabled permanently instead of having to switch off whenever I start.

My college got hooked me with a copy of 7, but I was saving it for my office that I'm building. I think that if this is a Windows problem, I'll just reformat this thing at 7 until I get my desktop built, and if all goes well, that will fix problems with fan. Also, I think I still have the Vista disc to this thing also, that's an option. If reinstalling Windows can solve this problem, I will def do this. I don't want to waste time to reformat if it does not solve the problem.

    Thanks for the comments!

    Hi Matt k,

Fear you must contact Dell technical support as seems to be a hardware problem.

  • Unable to turn off the computer, it will restart every time in Windows Vista.

Original title: portable computer complete crash

I am running Windows Vista Home Premium on HP Pavilion DV2208e.
A week using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom, the screen went black and all the lights on the laptop has continued. I tried to stop the laptop by pressing the power button, but it did not work. The only way to stop the laptop was to unplug the power cord. The next morning, that I started it again, with a notice "Windows did not close properly, how you want to proceed.» I opted for "start Windows normally". It seems to work very well, with the expection that the date had re-fixed at the date where Vista was installed first of all a few years ago. Later, when I tried to stop the laptop by choosing from the menu start 'Shut down', the laptop shuts down normally, but then 2-3 seconds more later handed on himself. I tried several times and it's always the same, the way to stop it is by pressing the power button, then whenever it restarts it new note that Windows not stop correctly. Also the black screen crash turned up almost every two days.

I tried reinstalling antivirus and did a full scan. Also used ccleaner and décliqués "Automatically restart" in the advanced system settings. But nothing seems to have worked so far.

In computer management, I can see critical events that seem to correspond to the time when the black screen error occurred. They say the following:
The last sleep transition was unsuccessful. This error can be caused if the system unresponsive, failed, or loss of power during the transition from sleep
Log name: System / Source: Kernel-Power / event ID: 41 / level: criticism / user: SYSTEM / OpCode: Info / task category: no / keywords: (2)

    Help, please...

    Hello

It seems that the problem is related to hardware. I'm offering please contact the manufacturer of the computer (Hp) for material assistance.

Thank you. I contacted the support of Tweed and got a quick response. It turns out that the problem is solved, if I "tap" the button ON / OFF instead of 'slide' button to OFF.

  • turn off the ringer only on hp 640 fax

How can I disable only the ringer and not all the sounds on the HP 640 FAX?

    Hi rmkram,

I understand that you do not want to disable only the ringer on the fax. I'll try my best to help you with this.

In the series HP 640 Fax User Guide on page 22, he explains how to adjust the volume.

    Adjust the volume
You can set the volume level for the ringing and the speaker.
    Ring volume
.. When the fax is in ready mode to adjust the volume of the ringer, press on...
Whenever you press the button, it will increase or decrease the volume.
NOTE: The volume of 0 indicates that the machine does not ring when a call is received.

I hope that this information help, please let me know how it goes.

    Thank you

  • Unable to turn off the camera RAW JPEGS to destroy,

    I have CS3.

Some ONLY open with Camera Raw in PS jpeg files, no matter what I do. I just want to open regularly, but I can't get go in ACR and ACR is corrupt somehow the color when it opens them this way.

In preferences, I have disabled "prefer camera raw" for jpeg (in PS and bridge), but it does not always help.

The problem is that the color gets ruined when open with ACR, any color space, I choose within ACR during development, the files get a washed appearance and once opened this way can be repaired through normal methods, ala "convert to" or "assign" the right color profile.

Note that other jpegs do not open with ACR before seem fine and unaffected, they do not open via ACR in PS, they just normally open in PS, and I see the expected "color profile mismatch", if any.

Also note that files that are themselves ruined by ACR look OK in Bridge and in the preview itself, but once open in PS ACR window, they are totally different.

Is someone can you please tell me how I can stop ACR to ruin their or just deactivate ACR for good? Thank you. The files are essentially unopenable as they are right now, and I don't see any 'clear' options settings that future versions of PS seem to have development.

    Thank you!

You uncheck the box for jpeg within the acr dialog box?

According to what you do with the computer, Java may not be necessary. I did not install more and did not have an opportunity where I needed.

  • Unable to turn off the built-in in Windows 7 Home Premium Administrator account

I can't disable the built-in Windows 7 Administrator account. I tried to do it via a command prompt with "net user administrator / active: No. ' but all this, after the reboot, is display an error message about the incorrect user name or password and presents the administrator account as an option to login anyway (with an option for"other users"). But if I try to connect to the administrator account a password for log-in, which I did not.
If I activate the account (again in elevated command prompt), I can connect as administrator normally, without password.
I can always connect to my own account without worrying, but I would like to know how to solve this problem in any case. Can I avoid the error by removing the password from my account, but I don't want to do that.

I created a test account Admin attempt to connect to it gives this error:

"The service user profile Service has no logon.
User profile cannot be loaded. »

Ah, the dreaded problem of profile Service. I've seen dozens of times in this forum, but I have no solution for it. If you do a search on Google you will find countless references to it. I invite you to solve this problem first, before you disable administrator accounts.

  • Turning point for read only files

Folders with subfolders and those without, keep going 'read only' even if with a click right/properties I continues to turn off the read-only.  Why is this?

    By its design.

The box greyed out for a folder means basically nothing, no change, waiting to be used. This is because read-only in the properties of the folder is only used to apply or remove the setting of all the files in the folder read-only at the same time. If you clear the check box and click on apply, then the files in the folder will be deleted from all they have read-only attributes. Like wise, to check the box to apply the attribute to all files.  The place appears again the next time because, once more, you have not used.

  • TOSHIBA Power Saver software is turn off the optical disc drive, and I'm unable to re - turn on the power.

    Original title:

    Aloha!

    I have a Toshiba Qosmio x 775-3dv78 running Windows 7 Home Premium x 64.
Similar to another old post here, I have an intermittent problem where the Toshiba Power Saver software is off the ODD (a Matshita UJ240EF - BD - RE) and I am unable to turn on the power.  To put the ODD back on, it's a matter of restarting (sometimes several times) until the STRANGE somehow turns on.
Sometimes, when I do a hot or cold boot, a window opens asking me if I want Toshiba Power Saving technology to turn ON the ODD.
I click 'Yes', but the drive remains switched off.
I also try to use function - same key controls... The STRANGE remains turned off.
    Here are the "best":
As described in the former post office, inside the Windows power settings, there is a slot layout titled "TOSHIBA Power Saver Settings v8.9.9.64".
In this context, normally there is ONLY a framework for 'cooling method.  BUT only when the ODD is disabled, a second parameter appears to "Optical Drive Power".
Change that on ONE for battery and plugged in fact NONE no difference... The STRANGE remains OFF!
Toshiba support is of no help.  Their answer to this problem is to run a 'Mr Fixit' which I discovered just unrecognized devices and then removes the upper and lower filters for the reader.  This "difficulty" might work from time to time... when it does, the ODD is somehow transformed into a 'removable' instead of one device ATA device.
But then in a few days, the STRANGE turns off again.
Something different maybe notable, I found after that I continued services and the related process, programs is that the version number on the Toshiba modules show "8.9.6" - not the "8.9.9.64" in the window Power Options.
And before you ask (LOL!) what's happening on a soft reinstallation of the operating system by the media of recovery Toshiba with all Windows 7 updates applied.
While I'm waiting for a possible response, I'll do the following:
Uninstall and reinstall all THE software Toshiba provided duty with the STRANGE (energy saving, combustion, players, etc.)
I will also shoot material part and make sure that the STRANGE is well inserted in the connector (IDE?) and that the connector is firmly attached to the motherboard.
IF who does things, I'll update this message and inform you all.
Otherwise, any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated!
    Mahalo!
