  I'm trying to understand how to configure a dedicated server of Dell R210 rented running VMware ESXi 5.1.0 build-799733

  This dedicated server is rented www.online.net and sits somewhere in France. One of its network adapters have an IP public 62.210.177.20x. The other NIC is here, but I do not understand how it is configured. According to the www.online.net portal, the other NETWORK card has or should have an IP 10.90.116.20x. And I am obviously set up is to have some virtual machines running and be able to access the Internet. I have access to the console of the server Dell through iDRAC and since I could see, one of the network adapters in the IP is 62.210.177.20x defined, and the other has been shown out of service. I managed to make it appear the other interface but I cannot find anywhere how to assign the IP address 10.90.116.20x to this 2^nd network adapter. But then again I don't even know if I should or if I need to assing a IP address to this 2^nd network adapter. What is the cable connected even for this 2^nd NIC? I do not know. Should it be - I'm not either. I don't know French and manuals/instructions on www.online.net are in French. I can try an online translator, but I don't think that what I'm looking for is explained. How do I get this set up? I have to do something about the ESXi on the server console? This interface 2^nd should be in place, or it must be down as if it was originally? Yesterday after watching someone videos on YouTube, I added the second virtual switch and moved the virtual hosts of this switch 2 and he entrusted the 2^nd NIC. But that 2^nd NIC had a red X next to it probably indicating that it was disconnected the 2^nd form virtual switch. I set everything on high preformance. Night GROUP again, ares yesterda GROUP setting and this night.  All spoke of "no heartbeat".

  I also notice when I connect to the server in the morning, it takes like 30 sec to get connect. After the first connection takes like 5 seconds, much faster. What I'm noticing from the beginning until today. Which is perhaps related to something.

  No idea what can be wrong?

  In the bios, you must set to high performance power management, disable all States 'C' and the maximum cooling.

  We have suffered before CMTF due to power management and now ALWAYS disable it.

  If you are on the Dell hardware, you need at least generation 9 material, for example, a Dell PE 1850 or 2850 will not support a Windows 2008 R2 64-bit o/s. If you're on a material later, where the processor supports the technology of Intel Virtualization (VT), you can enable it in the BIOS of the host.

  Please note that R2 support is "experimental" - you will need to ESXi 4.0 Update 1 installed full support.

  I'm a newbie on ESXi and don't know what it takes to get ESXi correctly partition my drive SATA 500 correctly.

  I will implement a laboratory unit to carry out tests for ESXi and ESXi is not quite correctly the disk partitioning or do not see a good partition in order to create a data store.

  You have generally not, but it might be interesting to start with something like a Linux live CD and then using gparted or other to wipe all the top partition information.

  With this server, we started to have only a 4-drive raid 5 (which was working fine), but this week, we have installed more than 2. To do this, I deleted the existing logical drive and creates a new one that included two new hard drives to bring the total to 6.

When I look at the devices that it displays the partitions that have been created and one of them is VMFS with a 678 GB in size (see devices.jpg for more details). If I try to create a data store, it goes through the motions but shows an error message "error during the configuration of the host: unable to update the disk partition information.

  I erased all the disks, deleted and recreated the drive bays and the logical drives all nothing made. We have another box that is identical to that where the same procedure was performed and it has worked flawlessly. I'm so full of ideas. If someone could provide information I would be very appreciate it. Thank you!

  This may sound stupid (maybe it is) but you can clear the RAID, exchange of HARD drives (bay1 <->bay6 bay2 <->Area5, bay3 <->bay4), then recreate the RAID and try again? In case there are a few old patterns on disks that are recognized during installation.

  I don't really know why it does not work.

  MSFT Windows has no drivers of enic fnic UCS preinstalled with the distribution of iso.
