Unable to upgrade to Windows 10 due to display and CPU Incompaitibility?

OK, so it was after a much less powerful Pc, another Member of the family had, was able to get Windows 10 without a problem, but when I tried to upgrade it says that my CPU and screen are not compatible? Seriously? The two pieces of hardware are over $ 500 and it is not compatible? What is c? the PC in comparison was an old Alienware Area 51, acquired in 2003.

My screen, assuming that that means that my graphics card is an Nvidia Geforce GTX 680 Galaxy

My processor is an Intel Core i7 cpu 960 3.20 GHz

It was high-end, several years back, and I don't have the money to upgrade these two pieces of equipment just to get Windows 10. If indeed, my hardware is not able to be used, then it seems that I am stuck with Windows 7, even though the support falls. What gives?

  • XPS 13 (9343) - unable to upgrade to Windows 10 - error 0xC1900101 0 x 30018

    I have a brand new 13 XPS, 9343 model with i7 processor and 512 GB SSD. I'm still within the period of 14 days, and I'm now seriously returning. I've never known such a load of nonsense trying to install any other piece of software.

    So far, and after many attempts, I was completely unable to upgrade to Windows 10. The first thing I did was to install all the Windows updates available for 8.1 (there were 79 of them), and immediately after that I started the saga to install Win10. Nothing else has been done to the laptop - no questionable software or USB devices (except the USB boot if necessary). It is in a State of cleanliness.

    -After the download via Windows Update, the installation procedure is INCREDIBLY slow (for example, it takes 36 HOURS to reach 42% completion - and at this point, it hits the error message). What the heck can he do?

    -J' also tried to create a bootable USB drive via the media creation tool. If I boot from the USB key and perform a "clean" installation, it works perfectly: it takes about 8 minutes total (which highlights how ridiculous the 36 hours). However, because it is a clean installation and not an 'upgrade', I find myself with a non-activated version of Windows 10 and I am asked to pay £99.99, I don't intend to do. I paid for the laptop on the understanding, he would get a FREE upgrade to Win10!

    -J' also tried using the USB key (but not the start of it) to perform the upgrade in place - this strikes the same mistake as Windows Update (and taking so long)

    -J' tried to uninstall all antivirus software, and disable all wireless/bluetooth devices before performing the upgrade - nothing of this aid. Because need me 36 HOURS per attempt, it is really not acceptable to try disabling things randomly in the vain hope that it might work correctly.

    When trying to upgrade (i.e. not), I hit an error message "Windows Setup cannot set up Windows on your hardware" or similar. During the recovery after the failure, tool configuration gives the 0xC1900101 error code 0 x 30018 and says it failed in operation 'FIRST_BOOT', the phase SYSPREP. Just make this error message cost me 36 hours of waiting (welcome to the future!), then it would be really helpful if someone could give me a definitive answer on what makes...

    Help, please! Auuughhh

  • Upgrade to Windows 10 erase all files and programs now on my computer, or make it unusable?

    Upgrade to Windows 10 erase all files and programs now on my computer, or make it unusable?  I have since I have not answered on this site, I headed to the computer store, 'Best Buy', to see if their staff or their staff of in-house computer repair people called "Geek Squad" could answer this question.  NONE OF THEM COULD.

    Well up to now, I had a lot of problems with windows 10. Some programs do not work. My wireless guard is disconnected. And when I restored it windows 8.1, my browsers did not work. It's just on a single computer. Others have not yet verified, I'm very satisfied with the situation. He also removed my antivirus program.

    The biggest problem is with the software I paid for and that you do not have a disk to reinstall. WHY - because today ' today, software publishers want you pay every month, and when things like that, go bad, there is no record of re - install the software. I spent hours trying to solve this problem, but until now I'm waiting for Microsoft's online live chat 194 minutes go.

    I would say that they should have ethics applied to developers of software for this kind of things don't happen. How unfair is that they release a product with a ton of bugs simply because developers are too lazy to correct the problems before its release. They must be charged a fine for lack of ethics in programming.

    So to answer your question - so far the files are still there, but has great difficulty with the programs works not as they did. In addition, if go back you to an earlier version of windows, it seems that they made it impossible for previous versions to work as before without having to reinstall all the software you have.

    I'd wait until they have corrected most of the bugs. I'm stuck, but you're not.

  • HP Windows 7 unable to upgrade to Windows 10 laptop

    I trust HP for years since we got the first programmable HP hand-helds to JK Gill in 1976.

    To find out that HP laptop I paid a lot for in 2010 is going to be completely obsolete is too sad for words.  Is there SOLUTION No. at all for my computer?  It's a HP dv7-3060us Entertainment Notebook.  I bought with my money of colonization when I disabled for cancer.  It has been a lifeline so far but now it is going to be obsolete?  Is there nothing to do?  There is no way to upgrade to windows 10?  I happen to love windows 7 but I understand that it is a lost OS also.

    Someone at - it answers?

    Thank you very much

    SissyBeans

    @SissyBeans:

    It is often better to have a laptop computer running an OS more old where everything works, only faced with a new operating system where things are 'broken.  As long as it works OK for you, it is not "obsolete".

    The problem, that you are facing is that Microsoft provides only pilots with the most basic features and what you really need for these features in laptops is the specialized drivers written for the specific material found in laptops - and unfortunately, there is no HP Win10 laptop driver.  HP only guarantees the compatibility of Win10 for machines manufactured after August 2013. HP is not no matter what timetable indicating when, or IF, they will produce drivers for older machines.

    So that you CAN update to Win10, I would personally recommend against him.  I tried to update two portable Win7 on Win10 and upgrading two of them ransacked.  Construction machinery 5 years ago only were not with Win10 in mind.

    As for Win7 being a 'lost' BONE - if it is true that MS has ended mainstream support for Win7, MS don't end updates to security for your Windows 7 PC until January 14, 2020. So, there's lifes in Win7 for years to come.

    As for not having Win10, I was a beta tester for Windows products and was one of the first initiates Windows test Win10 - and over the years of this, I have never been also disappointed by the total lack of improvements I have with Win10.  Without new hardware and a touch screen, Win10 is a little more than Win8.2 - with a bunch of stuff that was moving and a new half-baked Start Menu, for which there are better alternative third-party.  He misses you very much.

    Vista to XP is a downgrade!

    After installing XP, did you get XP drivers on HP website? See...

    Sorry, but HP did not Win10 driver for your device, and if you improve not to Win10, it is likely that you will be blocked from using the graphics card base - that would actually work.

    HP only guarantees the compatibility of Win10 for devices manufactured after August 2013.

    It is not unusual for a Win7 machine NOT to be expandable to Win10 because the material, at the time, was not designed for compatibility Win10.

  • Upgrading from Windows Vista Home Premium at 8 - CPU does not support NX

    Hello

    I have Vista Home Premium (very probably OEM as it came with the PC) on a PC and I bought the upgrade license to Windows 8 Pro.
    I understand that it is in terms of the license transition, but here is my problem:
    The CPU does not support NX (and for sure there is no setting in the BIOS for this).
    So I can't move to 8.
    To replace the CPU, I need to replace the motherboard.
    If I replace the motherboard my understanding is I'm losing the license because it OEM.
    So, in reality, I can't switch to Win 8.
    The license, I bought said that I can pass any system running XP, Vista, Win 7 to 8 Win.
    It does not distinguish between older versions of Windows OEM and retail versions.
    For me, it's a huge conflict.
    So the question is:
    Can I change the CPU + motherboard to earn 8? or not?
    Thank you
    It has been some time but I finally had the time to do the upgrade (hardware + software).
    For history and for others who could come on this post with a similar question and be discouraged by responses like this:
    I contacted the technical support of MS and they confirmed that I had a Windows 8 Pro upgrade license and after upgrading my license would Win 8 Pro full-detail (what you want to call it). Essentially, after upgrade, I can reinstall any other motherboard. Of course you can only use a license on a machine at one time.
    (Of course your upgrade license type may be different to mine, so you should check they type of license)
    In any case, what is more interesting, it of that I got the confirmation that I can do a clean install and activate my upgrade license. Not only that, but they recommended the installation of Vista should not be present when installing on 8 to win. I was very skeptical and I asked for an account of the cat to be on the right side. They assured me that the support had made several times and is not a problem.
    And so, I do a clean install on the new motherboard (and a new player) and activated windows 8 with no problems at all.
    It seems very stupid that you can change the motherboard after the upgrade, but could not make the move and the Windows update at the same time. Fortunately, it is not the case.
    To me, it seems that the MS are aware that in you to go from XP (soon), they should also use the materials for the upgrade.
  • I have Windows Vista Home Premium and according to the sites (Microsoft), it is a FREE upgrade to Windows 7, is this correct and where do I go to find the Site to download free upgrade?

    Upgrade Vista to Windows 7

    There is no free upgrade available currently. There was a promotion, but it ended two years ago.

    I heard that if you buy Vista you get a copy of Windows 7 free
    The Windows 7 upgrade Option is available through participating PC manufacturers on some PC and Microsoft on any purchase of packaged product Windows Vista. The Windows 7 upgrade Option applies to Windows Vista Home Premium, Business and Ultimate editions. Your upgrade to Windows 7 will be the comparable version: so you will get either Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Professional (upgrade to Windows Vista Business) or Windows 7 Ultimate, respectively. The Windows 7 upgrade Option program works on June 26, 2009 through January 31, 2010.

  • Windows will not start and repair failed. Can I upgrade to Windows 7 from this situation and get Windows 7 to begin?

    Any help will be apprecdiated.

    Normally, you do an upgrade from the inside of the race and activated the operating system.

    Restore point:

    Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

    Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

    Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    If restore work not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:
    Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
