Unable to work on your computer due to some unexpected changes

Original title: serious matters

OK, so I was on my computer and all of a sudden just started to remove itself. Then I restarted my computer and most of my stuff was gone. A few things that I can find by searching for them, but most of the time, it isn't here. Some applications have returned on their own, very little you mind. But most of the time it's all gone.

My menu to start pokki does not load upward. When I try to re download it's really weird. Options such as 'Open' 'save' or 'Cancel' will pop up but when I press open nothing happens. When I press "save it says I need to select a proper application to open the file but I don't know what app I need. When I hit Cancel it downloads and then says that it is downloaded, but I can't open it to all! I don't know what's happening, it's really frustrating. I can not even find my internet explore app. The only way I got here was trying to download Pokki and opened internet Explorer. Except that I can't do anything.

Some advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi JessicaMolina,

1. are you aware of the installation of new software or hardware before the show?

2. are you unable to install other applications? This problem is specific to Pokki?

3. you have any other browser installed?

4 do you have programs to optimize disk or third-party security programs such as registry cleaners?

If you have made recent changes to the computer, I suggest to perform the system restore and check the results. Make sure you restore the computer to a very recent date.

To restore your PC to a point earlier before installing updates.

a. slide to from the right edge of the screen and then tap Search.
(If you use a mouse, point to the upper right of the screen, move the pointer of the mouse down and then click find.)

b. Enter the Control Panel in the search box and tap or click Panel.

c. Enter the collection in the Control Panel search box and then press or click on recovery.

d. press or click Open the system restoreand then follow the instructions.

Looks like you may have a virus or other malware. Get your updated antivirus program and boot into Safe Mode. Note that some viruses can hide from your normal antivirus program, so you really need to scan in Safe Mode. To enter in Safe Mode when you turn on first, press F8 on every seconds until you get the menu, and then select Safe Mode. Then run a complete system scan.

If that suits him fine. If this is not the case, use system restore to go back to an earlier date at the beginning of the problem. To run system restore, click Start-> programs-> Accessories-> System Tools-> system restore. Click on the box that says show more restore points.

You can check the corrupted system files. Open an administrator command prompt and run SFC if the above does not help. Click START, and then type CMD in the search box, right-click on CMD. EXE and click run as administrator. Then, from the command prompt type sfc/scannow.

Thank you for using Microsoft Vista answers Forum!

Michael Murphy has provided these steps already; I'll just say it in a different way.

Because you can't go to your office, I suggest that you start your computer in safe MODE. Next to normal mode, it is a different way to connect to your computer and makes a few changes when the problem.

HOW TO START YOUR COMPUTER IN SAFE MODE

    1. Restart your computer if it is running.
    2. Press the F8 key after your computer powers initially.
    3. Once you see the menu Advanced Startup Options , you can stop tapping.
    4. Up/down arrow keys to highlight your selection.
    5. Select Safe Mode with network and press enter.
    6. You should see loading drivers and then Please wait.
    7. You should then be on the Welcome screen.

When I start right click then properties, this happens "this operation has been cancelled due to restrictions on your computer. If you see things like this:

The option "Log off."... ' is missing from the Start Menu.

The usual advice are something in the sense of "something has been disabled in the group policy...". ", and it is probably true that something has been disabled, but you know what something is and what it takes to do about it.

If you are using XP Home Edition, you will get away with advice to use the Group Policy Editor, since it has no Group Policy Editor in XP Home and only
really does not tell you where to look in group policy, even if you run the Group Policy Editor.

You need a complete solution that works for all versions of XP and requires no hunting around in the Group Policy Editor or registry to find where things are that have been disabled.

Unless you have disabled these things on purpose, chances are good that your system has a malware infection.  The malware knows what tools you use to try to find and remove, for the malware disables the things you are more likely to consume and prevents them from running if you can't find the malware and remove it.

If your system has this kind of affliction, all malicious software tools you currently use or have used failed to protect your system so that you can expand your horizons malware detection and prevention to prevent these kinds of afflictions in the first place.

The malware will be happy you trick into thinking that you need to so something drastic to fix your system - as a facility repair, system restore point or a total reinstallation of XP.  This is what it would be like you, but these measures are not necessary.

You must solve the immediate problem of the tools does not, then scan your system for malware when you are finished.

No matter what kind of malware you've used analytical tools, they are unlikely to solve this problem, because they cannot tell if the changes made to your system have been on purpose (you or an administrator who makes them) or some malware changed them, so the analysis tools will let these things alone (it's usually a good thing).

If your system is afflicted in this way, there are probably other things that also do not work - like the registry editor, System Restore and the command prompt, so fix them all at once even if you have not discovered they are broken again.

These commands from registry removes the registry entries that are stop opening programs.  Although the registry entries do not exist, these commands are safe to run and will work for all versions of XP.

Before making any changes to your registry, back up the registry with this free and popular tool:

    http://www.SnapFiles.com/get/ERUNT.html

Open Notepad to create a new text file:

Click Start, run and enter in the box:

Click OK to open a new Notepad file.

Copy and paste the following lines of text into the new Notepad file.

Save the new text file with extension .reg on your desktop or somewhere you can remember with a name you can remember, something like:

    enableit.reg

After you save the file, close Notepad.

Locate the file enableit.reg on your desktop and double-click it.

Alternatively, you can right-click on the enableit.reg file, choose open with... and select the registry editor.

Answer in the affirmative to the question... Are you sure you want to add the information in the registry?

You should then see a message that information has been registered in the register.

    Reboot your system and test.

You can delete the enableit.reg file when you are finished.

If the registry editor has also been disabled, we first fix (not a problem).

  • My phone connect to the Manager of HTC, phone says: "Unable to open HTC Sync Manager on your computer. Check that the application is installed and open. "

I have the HTC Droid Incredible 4 G LTE and whenever I try to connect it to the Manager of HTC, it does not work. My phone says: "Unable to open HTC Sync Manager on your computer. Check that the application is installed and open. " The Manager is open on my laptop and I just re downloaded yesterday. The Manager is currently up-to-date, but my phone does not always connect.

According to HTC, the HTC Droid Incredible 4 G LTE is not compatible with HTC Sync Manager even if HTC Droid Incredible 4 G is.  There are forums from HTC that would give advice.

You will have to remove it then use HTC Sync instead.  Download & its installation instructions are on this page HTC.

[Published July 30, 2016 - everything that follows is true, but the version I'll keep up-to-date is to http://answers.microsoft.com/message/cf1ae8dd-d5fd-4524-90f5-5ee0c7a7a334]

My HTC Desire X can use HTC Sync Manager, but I have tried both and neither of them is very useful software.  Two of them, for example, to synchronize favorites of IE in a simple list in a single folder [that is, they lose the folder structure that you can use in favorites of IE in order to manage the potentially large number of items you have in there].

Good third-party synchronization - MyPhoneExplorer, BookmarkSB & MeercelRSSDemon software

If you install HTC Sync, you will find useful drivers because they allow you to use a third-party synchronization software like MyPhoneExplorer.  MPE allows synchronization directly via a USB connection if you do not use to the top of your phone data allocation synchronization with your own data [you can also synchronize using WiFi Hotspot from your phone or a WiFi network].  I used the MEP with both Android 4.0 and 4.1.  You can also see their section English Forum for the guide very useful to establish things.  If you install GPP, while the phone is connected, then the necessary MPE 'client' should automatically install on the phone as well - otherwise go to MyPhoneExplorer Client - applications Android on Google game to get the customer.

Synchronization of MS Office - Outlook 2007

MPE can synchronize Outlook calendar, Contacts, Notes and tasks.

    Sync IE Favorites

If you try to synchronize include Favorites of IE [Favorites] so that you can use the MPE to synchronize your exported favorites of IE list [I can explain if you want] on the phone and then use BookmarkSB to import your IE favorites through the Android default browser [, then, if necessary, Chrome can import them into him there].

    Synchronization of IE RSS Feeds

I export my IE FLOW RSS to opml file, and then synchronize this file to the phone & import it into Demon RSS de Meercel.  It's heavy, but I do not add flow additional RSS very often is not too heavy.

    Other synchronization files

I use the MPE for all my synchronization, including Music & Office-type files [I don't know if your phone comes with MS Office-equivalent application].  You'll want to look at the files, settings, MPE, MultiSync.  If you have a specific example of synchronization you want then post it here & I'll try to explain the parameters useful for her.

If I try to open Windows Media for example, it says its empty (since Winutilities deleted my stuff) so I tried to use repair your computer and that no longer works

    Hello

Maybe your system is confusing upward. You said, you have installed some software stuff (Winutilities) and possibly this affected your system.

If you have a Vista disc (not the recovery disk Toshiba), you can start Notepad using this disc. During initialization, you should be able to choose a repair console providing an option that might help to fix and repair the system.

If this is not enough, then you will need to install the new system :(
