Unauthorized update

I get a prompt saying that there is an update (which I thought was supposed to be automatic)... However, I can't update without being the administrator of the system?
It's my Macbook and I am system administrator - but there is nowhere to do something.
How can I change / prevent this?

What version of Firefox currently run you if check you this on the help > troubleshooting information page?

If he has problems with the update or with the permissions then best is to download the full version and trash the version currently installed to do a fresh install of the new version.

Download a new copy of the Firefox application and save the file to disk on the desktop image

I had to disable the "User Account Control" (UAC), which allows you to run as administrator in Vista.  After that I turned it off, all 4 of these updates installed and it doesn't require manual installation.   Follow these steps:

In the case of Vista view:

1.) go to start; Control Panel; "User accounts and family safety"; User accounts.
2.) click on 'Enable user account control or disable' (last point on the page)
3.) clear the checkbox "Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer" and click "OK."
4.) restart the computer, and then run the installation of the system and they work.

If you are in Classic view:

1.) go to start; Control Panel; Security Center
2 screen.) in the "Windows Security Center", go to the last item "User Account Control" and click the button to turn off.

You can also see the security shield in your Start menu.  You can also access the UAC via this.

  • T440p: 1802 unauthorized network card, none can not start the update of the BIOS

Yesterday, I received my Lenovo Thinkpad T440p.

I wanted to install Linux immediately, but apparently 14.04 isn't able to boot with the 2.22.

The solution suggested in various forums was to downgrade the Bios to version 1.14, I did using the Windows

Installation program provided on the Lenovo's Support page.

After reboot, I get the infamous error 1802: card plugged unauthorized network, probably because of the whitelist is not not to date.

I was told by the support hotline to update my BIOS to another version by using the bootable CD images.

I have burned different versions of them, but none of them would start.

The error will appear right after the start of the Thinkpad screen. I can't get into the Bios. Press a button (Esc F1, F11, F12), entry etc has no effect either.

How can I install another version of BIOS? Is there an extra step that I take, in order to update the BIOS through a bootable CD?

    Any help is very appreciated!

    Hi x220forMe

After discussions with the Lenovo support and have been assured that it would not affect my warranty

I removed the two network cards and was able to start. It turns out that the problem was the map of the Sierra.

I don't really count on this map, but I find Lenovos "Whitelist" exasperating and totally stupid.

I wish I could have my back T420s, every thing was better on this machine

in any case, thank you for your efforts to help me!

  • 'Unauthorized change' Brown screen after performing almost any update

    Hello

A couple of years ago, I bought and set up a portable computer with Vista 64-bit for my sister.  His company was asked to use a particular printer that did not offer a wireless connection, if she bought a USB / parallel which required a proprietary driver (I think that the manufacturer is "MOSchip", but I'm not sure).  I downloaded and installed this driver for sound and after a few problems (unsigned driver and not really made for Vista), it seemed to work.

However, ever since then, anytime, she is trying to perform an update of the system, at the next restart shows a Brown screen informing him that he was a "unauthorized change" made its system and that it will have only limited functionality.  When this happens, the only way I found to get his computer to the 'normal' is to start in repair mode and do a system restore (which claims to fail but seems to actually work) back to the prior update configuration.  Accordingly, the system is currently blocked on SP1 and I'm terrified at the idea of trying to install SP2 or others updated.

My goal is: I want to move him to a wireless Ethernet bridge and get rid of any trace of the cable owner damned pilot, which I think has corrupted the kernel in a certain way.  I want her to be able to perform normal system again updates.  (Even attempt to update Adobe Reader led to the Brown screen.)  I don't know how to do to ensure that I removed all traces of the driver, and that she cannot afford to leave his computer in an unstable state.  Right now, the OS feels like the proverbial cards Castle, leaving me afraid to do something for her.

Of course, this is all complicated by the complete absence of Vista, the boot disks provided with the computer, so I can't even reinstall Vista (I don't want to do anyway, since everything else is set up for his company and relocation would screw everything).

I promise you that this is a legitimate copy of Windows, and I am troubled by the suggestion that these messages of "unauthorized change" I forged it, and any additional attempt to update may prevent the system from starting altogether.  There must be a better way that Microsoft could argue its copyright by disabling the entire system of legitimate users.

If you can give us the full error message, it would be a great help to help us. However, you can reffer the article if I guessed the problem of law:

    Concerning
    Bob

These problems of Firefox, (if it is related to the file download) have tended to be either false positives, (in which case detailed can be useful so that the problem could be studied) or because of download and use unauthorized copies of Firefox.

    Try to install from:

Note that Firefox provides an attack and phishing protection by default

Utilities such as Norton Safe or whether not sometimes fail on new versions of Firefox, until the company updates the software. I hope that the basis of Norton Security software will continue to work. You can also not that MS Windows provides a firewall as part of the operating system and also makes the free security software available such as MS Essentials.

I wonder if part of your problem can lead to a form of misappropriation of research. Because some of this type of software is installed by the choice of the user; often bundled with other software, security software will not prevent installation.
