unconscious local copies of the songs iTunes

I have over 12,000 songs in my iTunes library, which also houses the library music to iCloud and synchronized between my devices. On a Mac, the entire library is already downloaded and resides in the folder that is selected in the media folder in iTunes. Everything is set up correctly, and everything has been fine. Now, for some reason, most of the songs have the symbol of the cloud in iTunes, which indicates that they are only in iCloud, which is obviously not true. If I tell iTunes to download, the new copies are created in the same folder. Same file name with '1' added. Is there anything I can do to iTunes aware that the files are already there? I can go and reassociate a song with his file, but I must do this for each song in turn, which is obviously not a solution. I guess I can also delete and redownload everything, but if there is a better way, I would be happy to hear about it.

Is it possible that I can delete a song in one operation?

iTunes 12.3.3 on Mac Pro Tower

Looks like you have an iCloud music library, Subscribe to Match iTunes Apple music (or both).  The first time, you probably delete the local copy of the song file (stored on the storage of your computer).  But the song still in your iCloud library, so it appears in your list of music library with the cloud with the arrow symbol (which you can click to download it again).  You can still play the song streaming from iCloud.  The second time, you delete the song completely within your music to iCloud library.

You can see the distinction if you right click on a song (which is stored locally) in iTunes.  On the shortcut menu that appears, there are two separate, Remove Download and deletecommands.  Remove Download removes the local copy of the song file, but keeps the song in your music to iCloud libraryDelete deletes the song completely, with a single action.

  • reinstalled itunes on new pc and all the songs are duplicated

    r

I reinstalled iTunes on new pc and all the songs are duplicated. How can I delete everyone else?

iTunes can create duplicates if the same content is added several times from outside the media folder when it is about to make copies of everything that is added to the library, or is added from an external drive that hosts the press kit that was disconnected during the launch of iTunes.

Official notice of Apple on the duplicates is here: find and remove duplicates in your iTunes library. This is a manual process and article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls such as the lost coast and membership of playlist, or sometimes the same file can be represented by multiple entries in the library as well as a removal and recycling the file will break all the others.

Use MAJ > display > show items to reproduce exactly to display the duplicates because it is normally a selection more useful. You must manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sort the list by Date added can make easier select appropriate tracks, but it works better when executed immediately after the dupes were created.  If you have several entries in iTunes connected to a same file on the disk hard then don't not send to trash.

Use my DeDuper script (Windows only) If you are not sure, do not want to do it by hand, or want to maintain ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this background thread , this post for detailed instructions and Please take note of the warning to back up your library before deduping.

(If you don't see the menu bar press ALT to temporarily view or CTRL + B to keep displayed.)

The latest version of the script can put away the dead links as long as there is at least a double live to merge his stats and membership of the playlist and must deal wisely when the same file has been added through multiple paths.

  • installation of iTunes on Windows 10 many double copies of each song

When I first installed iTunes on my Windows 7 PC I was told to adjust the following parameters to make sure that all the music files added to the iTunes Library is copied to the folder of my iTunes on the PC

iTunes > edit > Preferences > tab advanced and then check keep iTunes Media folder organized and copy files to the Media folder when adding to the iTunes library have been selected.

And that if they were not already selected, select these options, then go to

iTunes > > file > library > organize library > select consolidate files > OK

So far so good, it worked a treat on Windows 7

I got my years re-built PC for facing the windows of 10, which was all the same a Windows 7 upgrade, but a clean virtual install as all programs had to be reinstalled. I had backed up my music and copied this back on the PC before installing iTunes v 12.3.2.35 (64-bit) and proceed as follows, but to my dismay, I discovered that there were 2 or sometimes even 4 copies of each song that took a while to sort manually

    What had I done wrong?

And what should I do to install iTunes properly with one copy of each song, and to ensure that all files added to the iTunes Music Library is copied to the folder of my iTunes on the new PC?

It will be more useful to know the correct procedure, so I don't make the same mistake again.

You must have saved the folder iTunes as a working library, then restored it. No need to add multimedia elements as it would all have been in the library. The approach I recommend is given here: backup your iTunes for Windows with SyncToy library.

I saw you asking about duplicates before you set about cleaning them I would have offered this: Re: removing duplicate songs he removes ALL the same songs who has saved you some time and effort.

  • Deletion of albums of my iTunes library also removes the songs from these albums of my playlists

Hello! I wonder if there is a way to delete albums of my iTunes library without removing songs from these albums of my playlists.

I take my playlists seriously enough (because I know others do too) and would not that they be tampered with. The songs I have in them that I'm here for a reason and a lot of these songs are single whole albums I've saved in my iTunes library. I just recently the desire to clean my library because he got rather crowded with reckless decisions, but I can't do it until I have a solution. I'm glad that I remembered that this might affect my playlists before any serious damage was done.

I still have to find a question like this or a setting that would allow me to do. Please help me if you have an idea of how to go on this subject! Thank you very much in advance

No, you cannot delete an album on iTunes and at the same time not delete tracks. You could potentially change the details of the track so that less albums appear in the library, but I'm reluctant to even suggest that he. Data are always more easily thrown only recovered later.

  • The song disappear from iTunes on my MacBook.

I have a song that shows as being in my library on my MacBook, but it is not. Some time ago I downloaded and then deleted. It disappeared from all my other devices but still present in iTunes on my MacBook. When I try to delete nothing happens, when I try to play nothing happens. When I opened the box of info song that States that it is always stored in iCloud, but it does not appear on any of my other peripheral iCloud library or is available from me to re-download cloud icon there.

I tried to restart my MacBook & iTunes and also tried to turn my library iCloud off & back on, even running that a repair on my drive does not resolve the issue.

Anyone got any ideas on how to solve this problem?

    Hi rangers29,

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support. Based on what you said, it seems that there is a song that is just listed in iTunes and does not react to reading or deleting.

One thing that can cause this is wrong with the iTunes library file. We can try to restore the file and see if the library updates and removes the song in the list because it is not downloaded.

  • How is it iTunes puts all the songs in the album with the same name now?

I'm trying to give my CD into my iTunes since I got a new computer.  I did a few times before without problem.  Most of my CD is the most successful.

So now I put in 'Tom Petty Greatest Hits' and 'Tim Mcgraw Greatest Hits', I would put the Tim Mcgraw songs would go into Tom Petty album since they are both titled "Greatest Hits".  While I have to manually delete the songs from the album that I just put in, change the name of the album and re import again so that they merge.

Why iTunes do all of a sudden? I never had a problem like this before.

If the Album artist fields are different, enemy iTunes actually treat it as the same album, but they appear together in some points of view and sort orders.

You do not have to re - import the CD. Right click on the Album, or al, it of titles, select information and change regardless of the fields you want. In your case the artist Album tag.

In iTunes > Preferences > General > automatically the CD track names recover from the Internet is checked on.

  • ITunes does not recognize the songs and the old shuffle stop at 30 seconds

I have an old shuffle, 1 MB, maybe a 2nd gen, gold (A1204 EMC). iTunes (iOS 10.11.4 12.4.1) has problems with the shuffle. He quickly recognizes the shuffle, which appears as a mounted device and on the desktop a moment, then it reports that there are no. The shuffle disappears from the desktop and I get a warning saying that it has been deleted without eject.

ITunes then freezes and I have to force quit.

I can charge the shuffle, but when I go to listen to the songs, they last 30 seconds or less, the following starts then and in about 30 seconds, it will stop followed by another song.

I tried to reset (turn on, turn off for 5 seconds and turn on) several times but nothing changes. I tried to erase using disk utility (15.0). The shuffle will not disassemble process works.

All of the suggestions. My 2009 iPod Touch works better than this most recent shuffle. I like to use the shuffle when you do yard work.

Same thing happens when I try to sync the shuffle using a snow leopard starts.

  • How do you get songs on the new iTunes 12.4.1.6 work?

So I use to be able to get the album artwork for individual songs and now I can not.

Someone knows how to fix this or is this ANOTHER hidden in dropdown menu drop-down list of?

    Hello Sammeh1296,

Thank you for here in Apple communities a chance to answer your question. Looks like you are trying to add an illustration for the songs. We will need more info to be able to offer the best options to solve this problem for you, but I will try to offer you some official articles of Apple for the ways the most common workaround.

The first thing we need to check, this is how you get these songs. If they are synced from your computer via iTunes 11 or 12? You use Apple music or are these songs synchronized through your music library to iCloud, or iTunes game? This article describes the iCloud Music Library:

Music Apple Sync on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and your computer

These two articles are pay-per-view Match iTunes service:

Use iTunes on your computer, iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch game

    Subscribe to iTunes game

This article talks about your subscription to Apple's music. You can have this service, paying, even if you don't pay now, because there are 3 month free trial offered to Apple:

Manage your membership Apple music on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, or PC.

If you do not use one of these services and just sync the songs to iTunes on your PC, you will need to check one of these articles. Given that I'm not aware of what version of iTunes you are using, I provide 2 items. You will need that applies to your version of iTunes (iTunes 11 or 12 to iTunes):

11 iTunes for Windows: add artwork to songs and other items

12 iTunes for Windows: add artwork to songs and other items

Thank you once again and please have a nice rest of your day.

  • iTunes is the reorganization of the songs in the playlist

Used to be able to make a playlist and songs would be in order as on the album, but now iTunes rearranges automatically randomly.  This happens on both iMacs.   What is going on?   Just to be clear, does not seek to rearrange the songs in a playlist simply maintain the order of song on CD

I used to solve this problem by selecting "Edit Playlist" in the top right of the playlist "Sort by album."  I now get playlists out of order, or not to play all the songs on the album.
