  This may sound strange, but you need to do is to reinstall Windows live
  Messenger and then uninstall it again.

  Go to programs and features > do you think Windows live Messenger or Windows Live Essentials from the list?

  It may be listed under Windows Live Essentials.

  If you run both Windows Messenger and Skype you should have a notification to upgrade your copy of Windows Messenger to the latest version of Skype. I know that I have received an and after upgrade Windows Messenger disappeared.

  If you don't have the notification, then you should be able to remove messenger through Control Panel > programs and features. In programs and features, look for Windows Essentials 2012. You will find the option to remove Messenger once you clicked Windows Essential 2012 and started the removal process. If you want other applications of Windows Essentials 2012 such as Movie Maker, etc. leave these options checked. Just remove the Windows Messenger tick mark and then proceed with the uninstall.

  so far its impossible, I cursed at Microsoft much today.

  I can not start live messenger, because its nowhere in my menu start, not in programs not under the Accessories heading, nowhere.

  I can't uninstall it, because its does NOT appear in my programs and features in Control Panel.

  I followed all of the usual answers help on how to uninstall WLM but always come to a dead end. I go to start Control Panel - uninstall a program - click on Windows Live Essentials-, click on uninstall / change - select uninstall in pop-up dialog box - another dialog box box appears saying ' select the programs you wish to uninstall. Only programs with a check mark disappears '.

  Unfortunately for me, there is no program posted to be checked, so all I can do is press cancel. It's frustrating unbelievabley ! A resolution will be appreciated.

  I uninstalled Windows Live Messenger (or MSN Messenger) other programs with the intent to sell this laptop. I have since decided to keep & tried to re - install Windows Live Messenger (or MSN Messenger). After downloading the Setup file of msn.com & it executes the screen Windows Live that rises & displays a list of the components of Windows Live that you can install, it says that the Messenger is already installed. I tried to download an old version, but it said I had a newer version installed & will have to uninstall it first. I've never had this kind of problem & am so without solutions. Can someone help me please?
