uninstalled modules remain in the list of Add-ons and restart FF to remove, DO NOT!
uninstalled addons, always in the list.
You can try to uninstall the extensions in questions to troubleshoot Firefox in Safe Mode

If you have many extensions then you first activate half test extensions that half the problem.
Continue to divide the bad half that still has the question until you find that one is causing it.
You can delete the files extensions.* (extensions.rdf, extensions.cache, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry. New files will be created if necessary.
See "extension corrupted files": http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unable_to_install_themes_or_extensions
If you see disabled extensions are not compatible on the next departure in "tools > Modules > Extensions" and then click "Find updates" to do a compatibility check.

I was asked to update Java. I had a YAHOO toolbar I made and do not want to. I can't get rid of it. It does not appear on the list of Add-ons, not in the list of programs (for uninstall). Could not find anything with Yahoo in the name. I don't want to use the view, as he returns to the display without my consent - I want not gone permanently.
The Yahoo uninstall instructions help call for, click on the pencil tool (which tool is not found on this toolbar). Firefox instructions say go to the list of Add-ons, but the Yahoo bar is not there. There are several modules of Java, but I don't know what they are and what happens if they are uninstalled.

for some reason, I now have a developer toolbar, even if I have not installed myself. What's even stranger, is that it appears each time I hit shift - thus the lack of capital letters in this post - and it does not appear on my extention - or plugin list, so I have no idea how turn it off. It appears under the Tools tab and I can stop it here, but it appears again whenever I hit shift.
Hello Kuzuri, firefox has a built-in Developer toolbar which can be high with keyboard shortcut shift + f2. so, that's just a guess, but perhaps the key f2 on your keyboard is suspended...
in case you can not solve in this way, please enter Subject: config in the bar firefox address (confirm the message information where it appears) & get preference named devtools.toolbar.enabled - double-click on the entry and toggle the value false. Usually, this will disable the developer toolbar after restarting the browser.

I have reset firefox for another problem. After that, I went and looked at my addon and found a long list. I don't know if they should stay active or should be disabled - or have I not the knowledge to do so. How should I address this?

I already followed your advice to remove the file plugins.dat from the .mozilla directory. The plugin has not yet appeared in the list of Add-ons. Anyone have an idea what might happen?
You can check the installation path of other plugins on the topic: plugins page.
I plugins in these locations:
/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/ /usr/lib/browser-plugins/ /usr/java/jre1.7.0_45/lib/i386/libnpjp2.so
One possibility is to create a ~/.mozilla/plugins/ directory and place a symbolic link to the file to plugin Java libnpjp2.so in this folder to see if it helps.

How can I continuous remove add-ons and downloads?
someone downloaded www.coupons.com and www.shopathome.com on my computer and cant now remove them? Any help would be great, I can't seem to understand and they slow my computer down and get in the way when research interntet
I open the window manage add-ons and go to the tab search providers. Click on the ones you want to remove, then click on remove from the bottom of the box. If this does not work, open the window desinstaller uninstall programs in Control Panel, select them, and uninstall them there. I wouldn't use a removal tool because I heard that they can damage your computer or be impossible to uninstall when you are finished with them, but it's your decision.

The new default browser is called ask.com and it showed up after I installed a program to download faster. I uninstalled the new program from my computer and add0ons, but it is still throw me back to new default browser even after I installed firefox four times. It's irriating and it just doesn't seem to go away. How can I get rid of him without losing bookmarks and information?
You can use the SearchReset extension to reset preferences to default values.
Note that the SearchReset extension runs only once and then uninstalls automatically, so it will not appear on the page "> Firefox Add-ons" (topic: addons).
You can do a search on the topic: config a page to ask.com

Windows 7 - some updates does not download or install, but remain in the list
I have two Windows 7 computers with the same problem with updates. One running Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit and the other is running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. This caused me disable the automatic updates so that my computers block constaintly try to apply these updates. The 64-bit version continues to try to get an update of Windows Live, but notes that it is the wrong version after downloading. The 32-bit machine tried to download the same four updates for six months. How can I make sure that these updates are really necessary and if not block software update offering these updates so that I can turn on automatic updates. I get a window of surf canyon to appear on my desktop. I checked in my control panel and features program and it does not appear there. I checked in firefox, tools, add ons and, it seems, but it is disabled. There is no option to "remove" as there is for other add ons. And, even if it presents as being disabled, the window keeps popping up. How can I get rid of this?
According to a screen shot I've seen online, when you are in the Control Panel, uninstall a program, you are looking for is called Fast Search. It might be easier to click on the column heading "installed on" to bring the most recent infections, I mean additions, upward. I hope that here uninstallation will remove the Firefox and IE as well.

There is a good bit of wisdom in the old expression, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." You could reduce the number of updates at least 50% if you would just fix things which ARE 'broken', and, whenever you update FF, it causes another set of problems that I am having trouble. The most recent is a add-on called "offer mosquito" that is automatically added to my list of Add-ons. I have delete - not disable, DELETE - the next time that I reboot it comes back. I am more as more than just a little bit tired to do... How can I get rid of it for good?
With the help of 25.0 FF on PC under Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
Hello Goodolgal, the behavior you have described is not caused by an update of firefox but with adware/malware on your pc. Please run a full scan of your system with security tools like the free version of malwarebytes and adwcleaner.
