Unknown material? In Windows XP

Laptop: HP 9812eo

OS: Windows XP downgrade

Hello

This question has probably been asked many and I consider myself quite an experienced modern PC user, but I'm stumped! After downgrading my vista PC wife (I like vista, but the woman is not so eager to try something new) to Windows Xp, I can not find the drivers for the following hardware, they are yellow in Device Manager:

Modem on High definition audio bus

Ethernet controller

I did a bios update and succeeded in getting the work of firewire, but these two components seem a no go. I'm sure she will have no use for a dial-up modem or ethernet, but it could be handy in the small of the situations. If any of you have an idea for a driver windows xp for the rest, it would be more appreciated and save me a lot more long nights!

Jack

Ah thanks for the reply,

I actually found the problem, whenever I installed a driver using the Setup.exe file, it would never work or return an error. So I decided to open up the system and update the driver myself, but I couldn't let windows search for the driver as it always returns a negative result.

What I had to do was to choose the driver myself (select as appropriate *.) INI file) and then it worked. The never installed installation utility driver and made windows auto search. In this case, I had to select the driver myself and do a force install but now everything works.

Pain in the ass, really, but at least everything is up and running, I'll have to take a driver back up and burn it to a cd to save me all this trouble in the future!

PS the only ethernet driver that worked was that a 2003 nothing newer nvidia driver would work unfortunately

But all fixed

try to download windows vista service pack 2. Last update was on May 21, 2010. For a few weeks or months, the computer can be terribly slow. Often a hard drive rattle sound. For this, I tried anti-spyware, last week I installed and ran AdAware from lavasoft. It found nothing except two small cookies. A few weeks earlier, I had done the same thing using windows Defender. Also nothing. Along with a check disk hard I did not find much either. What end of the lifecycle for this computer, now about 3 years? He was one of the first available vista computers. • OptiPlex 755: Components of unknown hardware in Windows 7

    Hello

I ve installed Windows 7 Professional 32 bit in my Optiplex 755. Device Manager displays now two unknown components. I ve installed the actually INF-update of Intel for Windows 7, but still the same components unknown. All additional material has been recognized with success.

Someone knows what I need drivers?

    Thank you very much.

    Kind regards
    schluri

I'm not going to swear that it will work for you, but I got the same features appear in my test of Windows 7 install for our enterprise network, in English only. One thing I've done is to check the BIOS updated and as usual there was a new available, not that it is important for the problem that you have, but you can also do the update as go you if you do not, A15, incidentally, you can thus apply all the recommended updates Dell.

The items listed as having no no drivers can be fixed with the AMT HECI and AMT-GROUND-LMS upgrades available from dell computer Optiplex 755 downloads. Extract the download to the default directory C:\Dell\Drivers and make a note on which one you do, personally I rename the folder of extraction so I know not what is in the directory if I need it later, for example C:\Dell\Drivers\AMT-HECI-R194010\ and C:\Dell\Drivers\AMT-SOL-LMS-R194011. They will not install automatically and if they act like they will just cancel out of it because they fail after installing anyway with a license purchase requirement most of the people do not have.

Manually, you can point to them from Device Manager by clicking devices and by using the update driver option and navigate to the folder where you extracted the drivers. If you happen to choose the right folder, it tells you that the driver cannot be updated so just finishing that and go through the option to update again to take the next case, do the same procedure for updating the other driver and life should be good.

I'm going from memory here so don't hold me to it, but I think that the PCI device is the AMT HECI and the standard equipment is the LMS-SOIL-AMT. If not then you have a chance of 50 / 50 to get it right by guessing and nothing to lose if you're wrong, as I said just take the other file, next time.

That fixed it for me, hope it helps you as well.

  • Write to spread generates file of journal of type unknown file in windows 7.

Hi all, I use the Vi 'Write in a spreadsheet file' for writing data in text files. These data can be read by any text editor, such as Notepad in MS, or excel. The problem is that

Windows detects these files as being of an unknown type, and I have to explicitly tell windows what program to use to open these files. In addition, for some reason any the

Box "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" is grayed out. So I can't assign a file type to these files.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? Do you know how to fix it? And what type of files 'Write in a spreadsheet file' generates?

    Thanks for your help,

What extension do you use to create your files?  I agree that it seems that you do not provide a file extension.  Add a ".txt" to your file names before writing and Windows will play more nicely with you.  Or if you use a comma as separator, use ".csv".
