Unlike block cube BSO

Hello
I did a complete data export and import of a cube of old env BSO (essbase 7) to new env (EPM 11.1.2.2) as well as the contour. After you import in the new environment, I expect the blocks are the same, since it is a complete data import/export, but I see some differences. Can you please let me know why 'Number of existing blocks' and 'Existing top-level blocks' are different that I expect it to be the same.

Old Env:
=====
Number of existing blocks: 928879
Block size: 14864
Number of blocks that can: 41897071152
Current level 0 blocks: 407528
The existing top-level blocks: 521351

New Env:
=====
Number of existing blocks: 928722
Block size: 14864
Number of blocks that can: 41897071152
Current level 0 blocks: 407528
The existing top-level blocks: 521194

Thanks for your help.

The cube in your old environment can be completely empty (i.e. all values #Missing) blocks. Export / import will eliminate these blocks.

I guess you can expect do some basic reconciliation between the two cubes to validate — if the numbers look good, I'd be pretty confident, that explains the low decrease in number of block.

    Try the following support document - "Essbase 11.1.2.3.500 by that Block Storage Option (BSO) Application fails to start the errors related to a global Application of the Option (ASO) storage (Doc ID 1667664.1)"

    Essentially to delete the ASO app under the location of the hybrid - /user_projects//EssbaseServer/essbaseserver1/hybrid /.

  • Is there a way to erase the data partially in a cube BSO using Maxl

    There is a BSO cube for which I have a script that deletes all data using MAXL characteristic data reset. Now we want to delete only data for a given year, any ideas on what the best approach would be to use MAXL? Just to clarify, it is also script which is scheduled to run every day.

    I know that we have the clear data in the "region" for ASO cubes, but is there something similar for the BSO?

    Appreciate any help

    You can use the third method on the examples above and do the math online

    run the calculation

    "FIX ('2015').

    CLEARBLOCK ALL;

    ENDFIX;'

    on Sample.basic;

    avoids the need to create a calculation script

  • _Member of the BSO cubes storage

    Hi all

    We have a cube BSO. I need to change the properties of storage of all members in 4 sizes to store. What is the best/easy approach to change the properties of storage of all members in a dim

    Yes, I've been down this road before and am actually likely to be soon on my current project.

    Your question, I think, is that HFM prepares his eliminations and adjustments to senior level members in the dimension of PKI (value? "I don't remember, it has been more than a year). When you load in a cube ASO that it does not work because the ASO only accepts the load at level 0 data.

    The patch on the side of Essbase is to create level 0 buckets to receive the higher level e & a. It's a pain and you will probably need the output of SQL extended Analytics massage (I'm guessing that you use) to push the values of these 'false' lower level members. This all works when it is retrieved at a higher level of the map.

    In fact, the foregoing would be about 99% true in OSB as well - Yes, you can load at senior level members, but almost nobody does.

    In any case, create that stored such members in ASO vs dynamic won't make a difference - ASO loads only on level 0.

    Kind regards

    P.S. Your post title says "OSB", but you talk to ASO. Two very different architectures under the covers.

  • Essbase number difference blocks

    Hello

    I have EMP 11.1.2.2 and I am exporting and importing cube BSO dev to uat environment. After importation and performing calculations, I see little difference there in the 'Number of blocks' and "Existing cutters uper level" in any environment.

    Others like "existing level 0 blocks", "Block size" and 'The potential number of blocks' are the same.

    Can you please let me know what could be the reason for the difference, even if it's the same data, and the pattern is the same.

    You asked a very similar question earlier (I have not this good a souvenir, but I searched this thread designate in this one!): https://forums.oracle.com/message/10877200#10877200

    My first guess would be "all the #Missing ' top level in one or the other cube blocks.  You did not say that we have more, by the way.   But if they reconcile, and a restructuring forced in both environments brings counties into alignment I doubt you have a problem.

  • Sends data Essbase BSO

    Good afternoon

    Our group currently uses cubes essbase ASO to do their planning and forecasting.  Data bases are mainly intended to be warehouses of data, users just want to be able to send their data and consolidated it on the fly, as they get them.  They do not want to perform calculations of database (we had cubes BSO years ago, but the time calc were too - that's why we went to ASO).  It works well, except that as you know, ASO sending is notoriously slow--it's getting to be a little problem.  Now, we have recently moved to the latest version of Essbase / Smartview and I was told that if you partition a cube a cube ASO BSO, you can send data to the OSB, and through transparent access partition by ASO and ASO aggregate child values in the OSB for parent ASO values when users make their retrieves.  Is this true?  If so, this may be a game changer for us.  I tried to do this before, but still had to calc the BSO cube first.  Can someone check it for me?

    Thanks and sorry for being long-winded

    Oh Cameron the error you see is to listen to me. In fact, I was going to put in the comment that you made about adding complexity to the equation having to send to a database but to report each other as much as before 11.1.2.3, you wouldn't be able to see the ASO cube within planning. you will need to use an Essbase connection in Smart View to get there. He has certainly material environment.

    As I said also kind of each environment is differenent. in the case of the OP, there need test what its users do and see which is the faster of the two. There are some efficiency gains in the partitions to bring in data blocks. The amount of data users send, the closer the two could be equal or one overshadow the other.

  • BSO - Calc Script omitting

    Hi all

    I have 15 dimensions of a cube BSO.
    Here is the structure:

    Measure - 6 (Members)
    Time - 50
    Dim1 - 120
    Dim2 - 4
    Dim2 - 4
    Dim4 - 30
    Dim5 - 10
    6 - 10
    Dim7 - 5
    Dim8 - 40
    Dim9 - 50
    Dim10 - 50000
    Dim11 - 6000
    Dim12 - 70
    Dim13 - 400000

    I have the scipt of calculation that calculates all dimensions, except two dimensions. I've got half a million records to take in the cube.

    The calcualtion fails with the error "dynamic Calc processor fails to more environmentally sound management blocks [2] during the math, please try again and incresae CalcLockBlock setting '.

    And please also suggest a better way to design (Structure Dense/Sparse) the outline of this cube. The size of the block is now 1807744 B.

    Should I go for dynamic calc for some dimensions so that the calculation will be reduced? Should I go for glass hour for dense/sparse combination structure? Is it an optimal solution for it?

    TIA

    He probably missed memory doing the restructuring...

    If the only change was to make the sparse time instead of dense, it is suspicious and I don't want to look at the log to see if something happens. If there was other changes at the same time, I'll try it again with just the change of time.

    If possible, you could extract, erase data, restructure, reload data approach. but that could take awhile.

    TimG,
    I'm you stalking like I Cameron! TimG is basically correct in what he gave you except for the first period of the year (assuming Jan for this example) you really need an If statement in the MTD
    If (@ISMBR (Jan))
    "CDA";
    ELSEIF@ISMBR("FEB":"DEC")
    "CDA" - @PRIOR ("YTD);
    ENDIF

    You could also add the logic to the quarters and years, etc.

  • Plannoing application and ASO cube

    Hello

    To my knowledge when we create a planning application and create the database, it creates a cube BSO.

    But we had a call today with Oracle and they suggested to use cube ASO with planning. Is it possible to have a cube ASO for a planning application?

    Then, in the same call we had with Oracle, they suggested using Smartlists for ASO essbase cube. Is it possible to have Smartlists for essbase applications. Cause SmartLists are drop downs, which can be used in web forms. How can we use smartlists in the worksheet? Using smartview?

    Typical measures Essbase are simular to a Smart list in the schedule. You can use it in ASO and BSO.
    For additional info see the steps how to activate and work with typed: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/esb_dbag/frameset.htm?dtypmeas.html#dtypmeas_20

  • Maximum number of members in a dimension (BSO)

    We create a new planning application and the requirement of a dimension can require us to have a large number of members. I needed a baseball stadium figrue on what the maximum number of members should be planning to make it work in an acceptable manner (time of aggregation, run the calculations of time etc.) ... is the number we are looking at more than 30,000 members and a shared another 15,000 members 10-11 levels deep. If anyone has any experience with these large size, can you shed some light on how long would the time of aggregation and if we use it in shape, how better to agg SPTR of this dimension? • IF formula for a new account member (ASO cube)

    Hi all

    I need to create a new Member on behalf of Sun. and he would show only 1 or 0.

    IF ('Unit' == 0)
    + 0 ; +
    ON THE OTHER
    + 1 ; +
    ENDIF

    Then I learned that the previous formula is regular for cube BSO but my cube is ASO,
    pls help, how can I write my formula in this case.

    No: My cube is ASO and I added the Console of Service of such member.

    Many Thnx & Rgrds
    Rayfi

    Hi Rayfi,

    IF-Else is applicable to the BSO. You must write MDX for ASO calc

    Use "IIF".

    IIF (("Unit" = 0, 0, 1)

    It is thus, unity is 0, then the assigned value is 0 if it assigns 1.

  • Help! Try to update the values of Member - but does not (completely).

    We are trying to resolve a calculation in the middle of the update of business cycle. There is a push to update existing values for an account specific forecast time scenario.

    Essentially, we want to update the value of forecast current account 56400 to 0.33 * ("56100" + "56110" + "56300" + "56310" + "56320").

    The solution is to make sure only rest of the current year, Apr - Dec, updated forecasts to date.

    Currently the rule runs, but handful of values is never get updates - I'm not doing correctly?

    relatively small cube BSO, Account (dense).

    Here is the rule of this task running

    SET CACHE HIGH;

    FIX (& those 'Forecasts', 'the current iteration","F_00000");

    "56400")

    IF (@ISMBR (& NextMonth: "Dec"));

    0.33 * ("56100" + "56110" + "56300" + "56310" + "56320");

    ENDIF ;)

    ENDFIX;

    -followed by a calc all

    I expect to update all occurrences 56400 in the fix above...

    You probably need...
