Update BIOS on Tecra A10 - IC5
I have Tecra A10 - IC5 (- ptsb0e - 03d01ken) and have * windows 8 * installed on it. It was my wish to update the bios with the latest version.
Therefore I sailed on the Toshiba site and, using the tool of detection to Toshiba, was directed at the list drivers for my model.
The list of the drivers included updating the bios, and it has been designated as "independent operating system".
So I downloaded and unzipped the file and started the program.
However, as soon as I did the program abruptly ended with the message "this computer is not supported.
In this regard, I want to ask for advice - could someone please tell me what I need to do to update the bios
I can see BIOS version 3.00WIN is available for your Tecra.
You want to install this version? You can install it on any OS except Win8.
If I m remembering well Toshiba offers updates for Win8 BIOS and all available versions starting with version 6.0 or higher.
Is there a problem with your Tecra and some reason for the BIOS update?
Failed to retrieve the system (Windows 2000) after update BIOS on Tecra 9000. Recovery CD says "it's a bad machine. Can I go back to old BIOS? Another solution?
Maybe chain can confirm, but I put t he seems the best idea to mix stuff designed for laptops Americans and Europeans models.
Can you please confirm if the method described in the previous ad works?
I want to update BIOS my Tecra A9 of 1.70 to 2.10 (Windows XP SP 2).
When I run the update (P0054v210.exe), I get the error message: "[Error] the start of the service was abandoned. User does not have administator privileges. "
Event log entries are:
Description: "CHGBIOS" (the full message are in German and this forum does not allow German error messages, because they 'contains profanity or inappropriate language')
Source: Service Control Manager
Description: "NCHGBIOS2SVC" not found. (The full message are in German and this forum does not allow German error messages, because they 'contains profanity or inappropriate language')
I started the update as the local administrator, but it does not work.
Can anyone help?
Is your image of recovery Toshiba Tecra preinstalled wit or you have installed the OS on your own?
I have Vista Business running fine with all this work and I want to update my Bios Version 1.20 at latest.
Whenever I have to search for updates, the only one that appears is bios - 20070709164832.zip and it says:
Update the BIOS of 07/09/07
This Bios update adds functionality to your system.
When the computer comes on, the BIOS is launched to perform various functions to start.)
For more detailed updated information, please see the Information update BIOS Toshiba
Tecra A3X 1, 40 - WIN Toshiba.
When I run as they explain the link, it gives a stupid error:
[Error] BIOS update is not supported for operating system. Is an operating system or Service Pack is installed. ?!?!?!
How can I get close to it.
Thanks in advance.
I think the problem is that the update of the bios (which is using windows) doesn't work under XP, so won´t you luck because it takes a working XP and common modules installed on your machine.
Unfortunately there is no other way to update your bios, but in your case it s is NOT necessary update the bios since the new version adds not important functions. So I think that it s not a BIG problem, and if your computer is running well, then ' that one ' and follow the good old "never change a system up and running.
Is it possible to reset the BIOS on a Tecra A10-112 password?
Of course, there's way, but this kind of info is top secret and certainly not to be posted on the public forum.
This is characteristic of very important security and cannot be discussed here.
Contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and they can remove for you.
I have a Tecra M10 - 13L with Vista Business SP2 32-bit installed.
I tried to update my BIOS from v1.6 to the currently available in download v3.0 "bios - 20091104152403.zip" page support and unpacked "P0065v300.exe", dated to the 4.11.2009. When I run the program, I always get the message windows "install2 does not work" and that the process is abandoned.
In the C:\TOSHBIOS folder. UPD, I found an install2.exe dated 12.08.09 which seems is decompressed from the bios update file.
Any ideas how the update can be done?
I already loaded the update servers diferent BIOS file and tried several times, but its still the same problem.
Why do you update the BIOS?
Is there something wrong with the laptop?
BIOS should be updated only if you have a problem. If the laptop works well, then I wouldn't update this
However, I found three BIOS for Tecra M10 v3.0
-bios - 20091104172541.zip
-bios - 20091104152403.zip
-bios - 20091103164158.zip
Try if one of the packages of the BIOS might be decompressed correctly and the exe file could be executed.
I bought the new tecra as M5 on May 12, 2006. I found the following bios updates.
16/05/06 update BIOS Toshiba 1.50 - TRAD
16/05/06 update BIOS Toshiba 1.50 - WIN
Should I go for this upgrade? Please recommend me.
I na? don't know why you want to update the BIOS.
Your device is fairly new in this case I na? t see any direction update the BIOS.
Please note that the update of the BIOS is not without risk.
If you use a bad BIOS or bad BIOS procedure if you may damage the card and these laptop parts are not very cheap.
I agree with Flo. If your laptop computer is operating properly you shouldn't? t make the updates to the BIOS.
I try to get a DVD/CD to work my BIOS is outdated (2.30) so I download the last excerpt from BIOS (2.50) maybe the file, delete all devices PCMCIA cards etc, stop all programs and start than the windows upgrade.
He arrived in the 'screen now update the BIOS' and crashes.
Fortunately a restart is triggered the machine again (wonder what he did). A quick check tells that the BIOS is always 2.30
Run the traditional BIOS upgrade program and he writes some stuff for a dsiskette disk. Restart the machine from the floppy, and... nothing! "Just hangs their with A: > if I type DIR I get a directory, then the program is finished!
Restart (always miraculously OK), but BIOS 2.30
Should which, if any, the files I launch
I relaunch the program windows and make sure the BIOS is still 2.3 (what is. No change there!)
What should I do to upgrade the BIOS?
Is how important it?
Why not have it not executed automatically
Sorry, but I'm a little confused. Can you please be more specific about the problem of CD/DVD disc?
Maybe you don't need any update to update BIOS.
Please refer to the BIOS update. He described the BIOS update procedure. I think you forgot to follow:
Turn on the computer laptop with the key (see photo below) that, depending on the keyboard layout, is located to the left of the space bar or to the right between the Alt Gr keys and INS. Press and hold until a short beep can be heard.
I searched this forum a solution update the BIOS without a floppy drive. The only one i found was this thread [http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=66966&tstart=0], but there is no file .iso for the tecra 8000 series.
is there a solution to get the new bios installed on my tecra 8000 without any floppy drive?
I checked Toshiba BIOS download page on http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_bios.jsp and TRAD BIOS version is proposed. This old Tecra is maybe 10 years and now, Toshiba has offered traditional update the BIOS only.
Win versions are later available with latest Tecra 9000/9100.
Maybe stupid question now, but why do you need the BIOS update?
I installed Windows 7 from a Tecra A9 laptop and everything works fine except the sound. Sound card for Windows 7 driver is already installed. The speakers and the microphone is detected. While playing music in sound devices the green bar under the speakers raises up and down, but I can't hear anything.
I read that the update of the BIOS can help, but it does not work under Windows 7, with a Live CD of Windows XP or in Windows XP Mode for Windows 7.
I don't want to reinstall Windows XP.
-Does anyone know how to get the sound working properly?
Have you checked it with headphones?
Have you noticed the same thing?
To be honest I don't think THAT BIOS will change anything on this subject. If the audio driver is installed correctly, check that all the settings in Windows and also in Audio DD Realtek Audio Manager.
I often see a new file for the bios update download site. My Tecra A3 is 2 months old and have no problems so far. Is it really necessary to update the BIOS?
One more thing, it is that there is no mention on what the latest version of the BIOS to the laptop.
If your device works properly and there is no problem, in my opinion, the update of the BIOS is not necessary to do so.
I use the P20 Satellite about two years and I n t do BIOS update so far. I agree with you that without any concrete description, it is not easy to decide BIOS update.
I'm trying to update the BIOS on a Tecra A2 and I need help. I downloaded the current version (1.40 - WIN) and then extracting the zip file to copy on a diskette as instructed, the package extracts from 1.84 MB! Obviously this will not keep on a floppy disk, so how can I perform the update?
According to the installation instructions this model no is not upgraded to Windows - if the version name contains WIN (?)
Any help would be appreciated.
I'm agree with sascha BIOS update published on the Toshiba page focuses on the victory of BIOS and this can ONLY be changed during the execution of a Windows operating system.
So download the BIOS, unzip and then run it the exe file
I have a Tecra A4-SP619 and I need a Bios Update. Where to find it?
Updates to the BIOS, you can find on Toshiba support page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > support & downloads.
Be careful to choose the right model (PTA40 or PTA42).
All that s!
I tried a bios upgrade for my Tecra M7 (as it is on version 1.70 - 17/10/2006).
I found version 3, 20-victory - but of course, I've replaced Windows with Linux.
I'd feel safer doing the traditional way anyway, so is there a way to get the folder on the CD from somewhere?
Is it possible to pass a parameter to the program 'P0048v320_nVidiaGraphics.exe '?
Is there a secret link?
It is not so good, because toshiba does not provide a traditional BACK for this computer bios. You need a Windows system running with common modules installed to perform a bios update, if you find another way then you´re probably a lucky guy.
I was using an old HDD with a recovery top Windows to update the bios on a Portege M400, so you should find a hard drive and install windows on it.
I want to update the BIOS of my Tecra S11. The hard drive is encrypted with PGP Whole Disk Encryption. Is it safe to run the Toshiba BIOS update program without first decrypting the disk?
Thanks for your comments,
I ve not a lot of experience with PGP encryption software, but with the bit locker
It is also a kind of encryption provided my MS in Vista and Win 7.
To my knowledge the bitlocker must be set to suspend mode by updating the BIOS.
I guess that something similar should be done to PGP.
