Update Dell 400sc PSU vs Video card

Hi, I own a Dell 400sc with the following specifications:

processor 2.8 ghz

1 GB DDR2 RAM

120 GB HDs (2 x)

I'm not exactly computer savvy computer. I think the PSU is 250W. I want to update my video to a GeForce 6200 card, but I'm not sure that the current supply will be sufficient. Think you all? I'm not interested in top of the line set, I want just a decent upgrade video without having to buy a new power supply. I'd settle for GeForce 5 product range if necessary. Any suggestions?

What is a simple but effective update to the XPS 8500 video card? (Computer complete Newb)

Hello Dell Community. I read through the sticky XPS compatibility and some discussions on upgrading video cards. However, I couldn't find something that fits my needs. If you all can help me with this, would be great!

    Characteristics of the computer:

    • Dell Xps 8500
    • Intel Core i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40 GHZ
    • 16 GB of Ram
    • 64-bit operating system
    • AMD Radeon HD 7570

    Needs:

    • Run newer games of 2014/2015 without lag on medium to high heat (GTA V)
    • Relatively easy to install (remove some screws and paste the video card in and voila!)
    • No need to upgrade the power supply

    Budget is $ 200-250:

    • Obviously the lower the better and if need be, the budget is flexible. Depends on if the gain is important for the payment of the sum.

    Look forward to your answers!

    Thank you

    Richard

A card that I know works is $200 would be

    EVGA GeForce GTX 960 SuperSC ACX 2.0 + 2GB GDDR5 128 bit 02 G-P4-2966-KR that it comes with a 2 X 6 pin cable 8 pin Y so the stock power should be good.

more than 2 GB will not improve the map and it will increase the price.

Don't get me wrong although it won't make a video full screen 4K.

  • Update of PSU and video card

Hello, I wanted to update my power supply and the video card. I would get the PSU is the SeaSonic S12II 620 Bronze 620W (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151096&Tpk=17-151-096) but I didn't know if my computer could manage and keep the power supply. The video card, I would get is the EVGA 01 G-P3-1561-AR GeForce GTX 560 Ti (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130604) but I'm not sure that my computer can handle that too. I have a HP Pavilion Elite e9280t CTO desktop PC (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=4066665) can someone please tell me if I can move on to the power supply card and video?

    Good choices.

Your computer will be able to 'manage' the two, and the power supply does not seem like it would be that what should be in your computer right now. Looking at your motherboard it looks like not there is no interference with other ports, so that should be good.

Now I don't have internal to your computer, but since gunfire although it might come with a GTX 260 which would be of a similar size to a 560Ti I would say you should be fine as long as you know what you're doing.

  • update the driver for a video card

Recvd this msg: "Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with the digital copy between your DVD drive decoder and video card protection. Try to install a driver available for your video card.  How do I do that?

    Hello

To prevent the illegal creation of digital copies of DVD, information on most of the DVDs are blurred. Your DVD decoder and Windows Media Player have software to copy protection that decodes the information on the DVD just before posting. If this software does not start successfully, you may receive this error. Remove the DVD in the DVD drive and then reinsert. This will force the copy protection software to reset.

While the DVD is out the disk, make sure that your DVD is clean. If your DVD is scratched or dirty, the DVD player may not be able to read it correctly, and you may receive this error.

If this does not work, try the following:

    a. If you have been able to play DVDs on your computer before and you receive this error message, you may be able to solve the problem by restarting your computer or Windows Media Player.

    b. If you receive this error message the first time you try to play a DVD, you're not a DVD decoder installed, or your decoding software may need to be updated. In addition to your DVD - ROM drive and playback software, you must have a software or hardware decoder to play DVD decoders. devices and their drivers are available from third-party manufacturers. For more information on the software decoders, see DVD plug-in decoder. If you have a plu decoder installed, contact the manufacturer of the decoder to obtain an updated version that is compatible with the operating systems Microsoft Windows and Windows Media Player.

So I started my pc at home the next day, monitor says going to sleep after tryna find the monitor. There is no power to the mouse or keyboard. Taken to a technician, he said everything is broken, I took it home, replaced my original stock of TG 640 and PSU 300 watt. The computer boots perfectly. Diagnos system check that everything happened.  Im guessing my problem was the aftermarket 550w psu? So I ran on parts stocks until a new power supply came, I then hooked my radeon 6850 with legacy on into the system. It starts very well. Now im getting a problem whenever I start my pc, I get a black screen with no connection with the mouse or the keyboard. SO I have to press the power button and now that I hit the button it turns off sacred now. Usually, you will have to hold the power button to turn off the computer completely. THEN when you restart after it stops it works completely fine. My other problem, if that one is that I would get a blue screen saying auto repair or telling me to connect all devices, SO I would get the same problem as soon as I press the power button to turn it off it stops immediately. On the next reboot, it works very well and it is a problem whenever I start my pc. SO Yes, my computer works fine on the second boot, if it does not start third will work have not had to make 4 boots still

  • Used the update and now the video card is not recognized

I updated updater manual update and have not updated anything since early December, 01/30/10 I installed the 5 important updates that were listed, I don't remember who they were, after installing the computer needed to restart and after the recovery, the video card is no longer recognized.  I get the BIOS beep code for no video card or bad video memory.  I know that this seems to be a hardware problem, but this computer worked fine until these updates. Now that the video card is not recognized, I can't even get into the BIOS, and still less actually starting windows. Any help/ideas what caused this and how can I fix this are greatly appreciated, thank you very much. Even a list of the latest important updates might be useful, I can't seem to find a list of anywhere.

    System-Vista Home Premium 64-bit
Palit-card nVidia GeForce 9600 GT graphics card

Oh and I took out that graphic card and put in a different one, nVidia PNY GeForce 7900 GS and always get the same error code. I also disconnected and removed the battery from the motherboard to reset the BIOS, still the same problem.

    Hi JohnyDick,

This problem seems to be due to the updates of Windows, although it could be a coincidence.
I first you recommend to remove the nVIDIA graphic card and connect the monitor to the onboard graphics card, then try to start the computer.

If the problem persists then I recommend you to contact the computer manufacturer for assistance.

    I hope this helps.

  • Since windows did a update my video cards are sometimes overwritten at startup

When I turn my computer on my screen, readers will sometimes have the crash livekernelevent and I need to reinstall

but isn't that a temporary difficulty because he just started when I started my computer

Everything worked great until I rebooted my computer from a windows update

Note: if my video cards work at startup that they seem to have no problem just randomly when I turn on my computer they crushed

the update of windows seems to be the cause of it and idk what to do. I realize now you should not update the drivers through windows update, but I didn't even know that the update had nothing to do with my drivers, how do I get rid of what the windows update done

    Hello

    This should help you.

Some of them you know already (updating graphics drivers).

Microsoft gives sometimes you updates for the 3rd party hardware: graphics, network cards, etc.

You should only get the latest drivers for them to real hardware manufacturer's website, as Microsoft normally does nor those have the most recent drivers available as Microsoft relies of the 3rd party hardware Manufactuer to provide.

But unfortunately, the only way to know which is the update of the problem is to install them one by one, until you find the 'wrong' for your installation.

You can do a system restore to get back until it has been installed (which is NOT the best way to remove an update) or follow this method:

    'Remove an update'

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/remove-an-update

When you have found the issue of update of the list of updates which is presented > then right click on the update problem > select Hide update > and it will not be available to you once again

"How to hide or show an update of Windows Vista"

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/72491-Windows-Update.html

Here's how to chanage update settings, if you think it is necessary to:

"Understanding Windows Update and Extras in Windows Vista and Windows 7.

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/Windows-Vista-updates-and-extras/

    Or the other of these two update settings will give you the chance to see what you want to install through Windows updates;

Download updates but let me choose whether to install them - if you select this option, Windows will download the updates on your computer, but not install them automatically. If you want to install updates, then you must install them manually. You should only select this option if you have a reason to not install updates automatically. Only advanced users should use this option.

Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them - if you select this option, you'll be alerted when there are new updates available for download and install. You can then choose to download and install the updates that you want. This option should really be reserved for people who know exactly which updates they need, or those who have little access to the Internet.

But remember you normally only have problems with hardware 3rd party drivers. Other updates are to improve the Performance and security of your system

    See you soon.

  • Video card GeForce GTX645 and two monitors Dell

Just place an order for a Dell XPS PC 8700 with a GeForce GTX645 video card. I'm trying to figure out how I'll be able to connect my two Dell monitors to the video card. My monitors are a Dell 2407WFP-HC 24 '' and a Dell IN2020M 20 ". I'm fairly certain that the 24 "monitor has a DVI - D connector, and I think (but I'm not sure) the 20" monitor also has DVI - D.

It appears by looking at the specs for the GeForce GTX645 there a port DVI - D and DVI - I port. If this is the case, how can I connect two monitors using DVI - D video card?

    -Larry

Yo is not an adapter to hook up 2 monitor DVI - D DVI - I and DVI - D + HDMI + [...] video card.

DVI - I mean it is a compatible port DVI - D AND you could plug an adapter DVI / VGA for use an old monitor (VGA d - Sub 15 pin)
    http://en.Wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Visual_Interface
    +

DVI - I simply means that the DVI connector has some extra pins (on the right, under the direction, my mistake) with the data (if necessary)

I don't know what would be the best, particularly given that there is not much room for a video card. I have

play games quite frequently; mainly of WoW. Thank you very much for your help!

    Hello

You're going to need a bigger PSU and video card as quickly.

You need to open your PC and measure the physical dimensions of your diet. Here is a list of the things to consider:

    1. technical characteristics
    2. the total power - important
    3. amperage 12 + v - important
4 modular - is not required, but I like the flexibility
    5. guarantee
    6 i7 and SLI ready
    7. energy efficiency
    8 cost
    9. size - standard ATX PSU is 5.5 "by 5.9" by 3.4 "give or take a few tenths
    10. a single + 12 volt rail is a better choice.

www.Newegg.com has many choices of power supplies. Corsair, OCZ, Rosewill, Thermaltake... This Corsair CX500 should work.

Open your PC and a few measurement in parallel with the PCI-E x 16 slot to see how long of a video card will fit. The adjacent slot on the PCI-E x 16 slot must be vacant.

This ATI Radeon 6850 should have a lot of video card for modern games.

' HP ' how-to ' articles should be useful.  Install the power supply and that your PC stable first before installing the video card.

  • Vostro 430 new video card selection

    Hello

I use vostro 430 with Nvidia GeForce GT 220, im confused about which cards are compatible with my motherboard, I couldn't find my motherboard on the internet features.

Is anyone know supports my motherboard PCI - E 3.0, 192 bit GDDR5 cards?

IM interested with GeForce GTX 650 Ti boost. is this one works with my system?

    Hi armanbicakci,

Yes, the system motherboard supports video cards PCI X 16 PCI Express 2.0 and comes with power supply 350w.  NVidia GeForce GTX 650 needs 400w power supply with PCI Express 3.0.

You may need to buy a 400W PSU. The card can downgrade and will operate at 2.0 speed.  Reference Dell configures the following video cards on this system model:

    ATI Radeon HD4350
    NVidia GeForce GT 220
    NVidia GeForce GTS 240
    NVidia GeForce GT310

  • Graphic/video card [REPLACEMENT / UPGRADE] on the desktop HP Pavilion - help

    I have the following:

    Desktop HP Pavilion Elite m9152p

Upgrade to Windows 7 Professional 64-bit (updated 11/2009)

The video card seems to have gone out and tried the following:

    Operating system reinstallation

Uninstalled & drivers Reinstalled & restoration

Before attempts above, no changes had been made to software or hardware only led to the same result: the video seems to be fine, and then it crashes and hangs and doesn't eventually having a hard reboot how, the computer loads the integrated video/graphic card.

I need to buy a replacement video/graphics card, but I'm not sure what card I need to be aware of, or that my computer can handle as a replacement and maybe a possible upgrade (not necessary) - any help in this regard would be most appreciated.

    Thank you!

    I think it's a good choice.

The comments seem positive most of the time that the fan seems to be quiet.

I don't know if your previous card had HDMI.

When you install your new video card, it can disable your sound system because of the HDMI audio chip on the video card.

If you do not lose your integrated audio system, after you install the video drivers, reboot the machine, go into BIOS, find the onboard audio setting. It can be set to Auto or disabled. Change the setting to "Enabled". Save the configuration when you have made the change and again when you exit the BIOS.

Upon restart, you will have your on-board audio back.

    Impatience back on your part.
