How to enable virtualization on Satellite L300-1DN?

Hello
I would like to know how to enable virtualization on Satellite L300 1DN please?
Thanks in advance

Hello

General virtualization is not available on all computers laptops because it s based on the material and it must be supported on the CPU.
On many models with processor supports virtualization, this option is added in the BIOS. Sorry, but if this option is not available in the BIOS settings nothing you can do about it.

I have a Satellite Pro P100-PSPAE with a CPU T5600, it is a core 2 duo CPU with Intel virtualization technology (B.t.w was one the reasons I chose this laptop in particular).

Now my XEN-Manager tells me that this technology is not enabled in the BIOS but I can't find any switch to enable it in the BIOS. What I am doing wrong?

    Greetings Michael

    Hello

Virtualization can be enabled in the BIOS.
But several versions of BIOS don't support such function.

If your BIOS does not have option, then you will not be able to activate!
Sorry to say it buddy, but there is not much to do! :(

    Unfortunately, this option is hidden.

Could someone help and provide patch or modded BIOS to be able to use this feature?

I think that you will not be able to activate this if the option is not available or greyed out in the BIOS.

    Hello

Did you check the specifications of your laptop first?

The fact is that the processor must support this virtualization and according to the Web of Toshiba site, your laptop is equipped with processor Core 2 Duo T5870.
I checked this on the page of Intel CPU and virtualization isn't supported. That means t, you can use this feature!

    I HAVE A TOSHIBA SATELLITE L300-1DN THAT:

CPU INTEL CORE DUO T3400 2.16 GHz
    3 GB RAM
    GPU INTEL GM4500M

What is the processor MORE POWERFUL THAT CAN REPLACE? LIST OF THE CPU?
HOW CAN I INSTALL THE MAXIMUM RAM?
CAN I REPLACE WITH A GPU MORE POWERFUL? WHY IT RUNS at 400 MHZ GPU WHEN COULD GET to 640 MHz?

    SORRY FOR MY BAD ENGLIHS

    Hello

In General, upgrading CPU on mobile computers is not supported. Toshiba has a very useful document and you can find it here.
A more powerful processor means more heat and it can be risky for the material. Each laptop model has certain designed cooling system to maintain the optimal material temperature and protect from overheating. Because of all these aspects CPU upgrade could be quite risky.

A long time ago I ve tested upgrade CPU on my old model P300. Believe me I didn t notice a performance boost. Not at all. Later I ve passed RAM to max level and exchanged the SSD HARD drive.
It was the right decision and these updates is supported and without any risk.

Satellite L300 is a quite old but still good machine for daily activity. My advice for you is to upgrade RAM and use SSDS. Of course install Win7 32 bit and, believe me, your machine will be very fast and you really happy with it.

After the purchase, I was told that it would be not possible to change the o/s (down or upgrade). However, I would like to upgrade to Windows 7 once it is launched. I'm not sure moving to XP on it, it is a good idea.

My preference is for own facilities, so drivers will receive for Win7? If this is not possible it would be possible to upgrade to Win7. My problem is that Vista is extremely heavy on system resources and the boot time is terrible (to compare to the Puppy Linux< 30="">

  • Re: Satellite L300-1DN - unable to connect to the internet

Hello guys! I recently bought a Toshiba laptop - Satellite L300-1DN and I can't connect to the internet wirelessly or by cable.

I tried to turn on the wireless button and my laptop recognized my network without wire from my house, but he just not able to connect. Then I tried to connect the cable, but my laptop itself connected to an 'unidentified network' and the internet still does not not :(

The internet works perfectly fine for my old laptop and my other roommates. So I guess that is not a problem with my router itself.

I don't know computers very well, so I'd really appreciate your professional opinion!

    Thank you very much!
    Scarfy

    > One last thing, I tried to connect to an unsecured wireless network and it worked!

It looks like a problem with your router. Check this box and look on the site of the factory for an updated firmware.

Make sure the laptop and the router using the same standard WiFi (for example 802.11 g).
Disable all the functions of economy of the WLAN card in Device Manager.

Last but not least follow Luke posted.

  • Satellite L300-1DN: battery not

    Hello

I bought a Toshiba Satellite L300-1DN less than a week ago and its worked amazingly.
This morning I was using, low battery so I plugged it in to charge, which naturally when fine and charge upward.

Went out in the afternoon, came home and began to use it again.
When the low battery, I plugged it and about 10 minutes later made it always became very very low and did not display to be connected!
I thought that the wire had released the card as it does, but he didn't.

Ive now tried in 3 different taken with the laptop on and outside, but it does not load!

Is it a problem laptop or Charger problem?

    Thank you :D

    Hello

Can you start the laptop with AC adapter only?
If so, it seems to be a problem of your laptop (maybe the motherboard) because the AC adapter is working correctly (you can start the laptop with AC adapter only).

If you need to contact the nearest authorized service provider. They can check the phone and swap the motherboard if it of necessary.

  • Satellite M305-S4835: how to enable virtualization technology

Is there a way to enable virtualization?

There is no option in the BIOS. I have already updated to 1.40, but it doesn't always have it.

Are there plans to add support?

The CPU has support for it, a P7350, say in the site to intel.

I am very disappointed in this respect. Just bought the note.

According to the Intel Core 2 Duo P7350 processor spec site Mobile of Intel Core 2 Duo P7350 supports Intel virtualization technology.

To my knowledge if the processor supports the "Intel virtualization technology" then it is enabled by default.
There is no point in the BIOS to change the setting.

  • Re: How to install HDD on Satellite L300-19Y?

    Hi guys

I'm not too good with computers but have bought a new HARD drive for my L-series I've been informed that my HARD drive is maybe broken due to errors when I perform chkdsk checks and the fact that it freezes and crashes randomly.

In any case, could someone tell me how to install the HARD drive? I bought an another similar to the original hitachi in the laptop, that is to say sata, 2.5 ", but got a 250 GB, rather than the 160. What I have to install anything, or have complicated everything to do? I don't know how to install it physically just don't know if I have to use my discs of recovery or something like that?

    Bravo guys

    Hello

There is no difficult things to do to swap the HARD drive. Which is a fairly simple process and he s done in 5 minutes I think.

I have the Satellite L300 in front of me. To swap the HARD drive, turn off the laptop and remove the battery and the AC adapter. On the underside, you can find the cover of the HARD drive which is fixed by 2 screws. Remove the screws and the cover of the HARD drive, you are now able to exchange the HARD drive.

If you have any other questions, please let me know! :)

  • How to enable virtualization on a HP G71-340US notebook

I have a HP G71-340US notebook - PROD. MOM VM114UA #ABA 14.04 Ubuntu. I had many problems with the old installation of Win 7, so I converted to Ubuntu and a clean set of 14.04 Ubuntu. Since then, I can't use VirtualBox to 64-bit clients. How can I enable virtualization so that I can use VirtualBox 64 bit guest mode? Whenever I try to set up a guest on Vbox operating system, it allows only the 32-bit clients.  Everything I read on this topics comes back to the fact that this machine is not dematerialize. I was told to go into the bios and enable virtualization but I don't see this option in the bios. Any ideas? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, this is not an option in the BIOS of your laptop.  The only way would be with a BIOS modified and that would violate the terms of warranty.
