Update from mid-2011 to 2015 21.5 "iMac?

Hi all

I am running an iMac 21.5 mid-2011 "(fiche ci-dessous) and I'm curious to know if it's worth the upgrade for the 2015 model 21.5" (chart below). I'm not a gamer and use it for office / video conferencing / music & photos. Grateful for any advice and particularly as I don't understand the difference between the 2 processors.

I see much of a performance increase?

2011: 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5

12 GB 1333 MHz DDR3

AMD Radeon HD 6770 M 512 MB

1 TB SATA drive

2015: 2.8GHz image Intel Core i5, Turbo Boost up to 3.3 GHz processor

16 GB 1867 MHz LPDDR3

Intel Pro Iris 6200 graphics card

1 TB drive merger

Thank you

Peter

There will be a performance difference. No one can say if the difference is worth to you. The main thing is one is going on 5 years which is more likely to fail in the next few years to a new.

Have currently CC 2014 company loaded on University PCs. users are requesting the update to 2015 CC. We have currently remove components CC 2014 before the PC can be updated until 2015 for CC. There must be an easier way.

Packages that are installed in the subdirectory 'Build' must be uninstalled using the same package, namely by running the msiexec command with the / uninstall switch, for example

    start/wait msiexec / uninstall/SB NomPackage.msi

To uninstall a package CCP on OS X from the command line or a script, use the uninstaller PKG file, for example:

  • How can I update from CC to CC 2015.1 2015?

It seems so simple - Adobe would update LR and the word went out - even a guest of Adobe by e-mail. Now? I see that 2015.1 came out and things I want to improve my CC 2015, but may not know how to upgrade! I tried the Adobe site, but who just lead me to download CC and LR 'later' automatically provided by Adobe, not the update to 2015.1 (again).

Someone has a simple solution for me? It should be easy.

    Hi Jim,.

If please, launch the desktop creative cloud app and click on update next to Lightroom.

Please post on the Adobe Forums.

  • Updated from CC to CC 2015 2014 now unknown error compiling movie in SOUL

I'm editing a project that is 720 x 576 only so no HD in question.  My PC is running Windows 10.

I used 2014 CC and had no problem to export the project.

I just upgraded today to CC 2015.

Now, it is true that, after making a few changes to the project, I get the dreaded unknown error message.

I read a lot of comments on the forums about this and what seems to be a multitude of things to look at to fix the problem.

I did not much yet to investigate and make, but for the life of me I don't understand why the software can at least give an idea where to start.

One solution supposed to remove the clips one at a time to determine where is the problem.

My project has hundreds of clips, so it could take some time.

I'm happy that I'm only using the software for a hobby rather than for a living if not I would be hot.

Maybe someone could explain why the software can't give a clue where in the video, the error is.  Surely, he must know where is the problem. He might not know what is causing the error, but a clue as to where to look would help to solve the problem.  It seems that this error has existed for a long time, and you would have thought that adobe would have found a way now to reach a judicious system of error reporting.

    Thanks for your suggestion.

Fortunately, I just tried the first test:

Change the video rendering and playback the playback (Cuda) Mercury to Mercury Playback Engine software only engine

He deleted the files of rendering.

Then, I just did an export throughout the sequence.  Almost all of the existing sequence in the timeline showed in red that I guess that means that a majority of it is not rendered.

The export worked perfectly without error.

  • What is the maximum RAM for iMac 21 "mid 2011?

    Hello

According to the specifications of apple, there are 16 GB.

According to MacTracker: Maximum memory: 32 (real) 16 GB (apple)

    What does that mean?

When Apple released the iMac 21 inches mid 2011, Apple has tested the iMac with only 16 GB installed.

It is possible to increase the RAM up to 32 GB.

  • OSX Update 10.11.3 iMacs causes gray screen of death Mid 2011

    Hello everyone,

I'm new to the forums of apple, so I don't know exactly if it was to go to the right place. This isn't any question that it's a PUBLIC service announcement.

Basically, a summary of my post is that OSX update 10.11.3 causes both 27 "& 21.5" mid 2011 iMacs is not start properly. After the update installs and the iMac restarts, the startup sequence seems fine, showing the Apple logo, then the progress bar. However, when you expect your login screen to appear, instead you are greeted with a dark gray screen and movable mouse... and he the system is still a little sensitive. If you press the keys on the keyboard you hear the sound of "bum" as if you had to press a key when you weren't supposed to, and if you press the power button (do not want) the system will switch to standby (and wakes up if you press it again). So this isn't really frozen, it's just nice... it.

Puzzled, I went to Google, hoping to find someone with a similar problem. I have not found much. I found some people with similar problems (gray screen is a bit more general), but I have found others with 27 "mid 2011 iMacs have this problem (links below :))

Cannot install the update of El Capitan 10.11.3 (Stuck in gray screen)

iMac mid 2011, gray screen of death!

gray screen with the pointer to the login screen

What I read, some iMacs have been recalled for the failures of graphics card, and that's what some people have responded to in the positions as a possible cause. (This is also what comes mainly from back when you search for "27" iMac screen gray) But this doesn't seem to be the issue here. The above posts are fairly recent and seem to coincide with the update 10.11.3 put in place, and they are the same symptoms that I have experience, but with no working solution.

Once I have restore my backup time machine last before updating 10.11.3 is installed, the system works perfectly. Unfortunately, if you have not a backup time machine to restore, it seems that reinstall OS x is your only solution (until you reinstall the update)

I'm not an expert of OSX, but I tried everything under the Sun to try to get the system to boot properly again, like resetting the PRAM & SMC , single-user mode, safe mode, none of this works. The system does not just start.

I don't know if this has affected everyone with mid 2011 iMacs, but I just thought I'd let people with iMacs 2011 who are having problems with this update that you are not alone, and I hope that someone at apple can be seen. If you have an iMac 2011 that has not been updated to 10.11.3 again, I will not do.

    Thank you

It is not material, it's software.

My keyboard came with my Imac aluminum had a problem that I thought was material, but order the update of the post 10.11.2 v works again.

Simply click near the center of the screen when it is grey and type your password.

  • The last version/update of iTunes hangs / crashes whenever I try to open it.  It also freezes my iMac mid-2011.

    Hello!

The latest version of iTunes hangs / crashes whenever I try to open it.  It also freezes my iMac mid 2011 and I have to force a stop to the bottom of the power button.  I have disabled all programs that I used to have to start etc (he was one of them).  Like a fool, I have not time machine my camera until I installed the update.  With iTunes left completely alone, my camera works exactly as before.

  • Should I update iMac 21.5 mid 2011?

When I got my new iMac iRetina my old iMac was put in mothballs. By this, I mean that he sat at a desk not used for more than a year. My wife wants to start using it and I just turned it on and a miracle happened, it works. I thought I had left it in a State ready to be configured for a new user, but it is apparently already configured to connect to my apple id because I see an option to close your session with my name on it. Two questions: 1) how that it is configured to check? Since we went with the iOS devices, we used the same ID apple so if we buy apps, they are working on one of the devices. (2) it is a 21.5 "mid-2011 with an Intel Core i5 to 2.7 ghz and 1333 mhz 24 GB DDR memory. He is currently in OS X Lion 10.7.5. What OS should I update 1) this iMac can deal with good performance and 2) is free? Did someone using Open Office for the iMac? If yes it you please?

    1. System Preferences > users and groups > Admin account

System Preferences > iCloud > sign in

If it is not configured as you wish, the easiest would be to wipe the drive with disk utility and reformat. Then, in the wizard configuration, make your choice.

    2. you can upgrade directly to El Capitan 10.11.5

In General, you should always pass to the last possible system like you meet the specs for, as long as you do not have "must have" applications that do not meet specifications. https://support.Apple.com/kb/SP728?locale=en_US

Several things you should do before moving...

    1. If you have questions on your current system don't their compound by installing above them. Solve them first, and then upgrade.

    2. check HARD drive for free space. At least 8.8 GB of available storage. Preferably more.

    3. check your applications for compatibility here... http://roaringapps.com/apps

4 make a bootable clone SuperDuper! or clone double or use TimeMachine.

    5. unplug all devices, including USB hubs.

    6. After downloading the installer, it will be in the folder/Applications. Copy and then drag it to a different places like downloads.

7 be patient, the download takes a long time, and the installation may appear as sometimes it is dead. Ignore it.

  • update the iMac mid-2011 or buy a new one.

    Hi guys,.

I have an iMac 21.5 "mid 2011 with 12 Gb RAM. I was wondering if it was a good idea to override this model (installation of an SSD, etc.) or buying a new iMac.

I am not very happy with RAM soldered to the logic board of the new models 21.5 ". Load path Apple extra RAM too. Most users may not upgrade RAM or change SSDS by themselves, but, I'm a small part of those who like to modify and update my Mac, I like to do and not be restricted by a marketing strategy.

    However, what do you think?

Looking at the price of new iMacs, I would setup an SSD and more RAM if your iMac runs correctly. You will save money, and this computer will last you a few years without glitches.

However, if you feel that your iMac is not powerful enough for the tasks you do, go for a new iMac. As you say, Apple does not allow you to change anything (except installation RAM on iMac 27 inches), so buy the iMac with the amount of RAM and disk that meet your needs.

  • Windows XP Professional installation with SP3 OEM CD applied but updates from the Microsoft web site does not-2011

August 22, 2011 I just do a fresh install of Windows XP Professional formatting the hard drive. I then applied SP3 for an OEM CD, I bought from Microsoft several years (part number X 14-60166-02). Re-install your audio drivers, unfortunately happens from time to time. No one came up with an answer as to why, or at least I have not seen anything credible on this forum and its predecessor. It happens on some computers when installing XP sp3
