You have automatic updates enabled - for Windows?

First of all, check that you have installed Vista Service Pack 2?

Go to start > run > type

  • Get Error 8000FFFF when downloading updates

    I tried to download 10 updates to Windows, but I get 8000FFFF error code (Windows has encountered an unknown error). I tried to fix registry errors but it all. Help!

    8000FFFF error code when you click on "Check for Updates" in the item of control panel Windows Update on a Windows Vista-based computer
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/946414

    The error can also occur if-

    • The services concerned of the Windows Update stop working.
    • The temporary folder of Windows Update has been damaged.
    • Windows Update Agent does not work.
    • A third-party program affects the WU Service (such as anti-spyware, Internet/web accelerators, programs of firewall/antivirus programs) or the file/update downloaded is corrupt.

    Suggestions:

    1. Make sure that the services are running.

      Click Start, type services.msc in the search box and press ENTER.

      In the right pane, verify that the following three services have been launched:

      (BITS) Background Intelligent Transfer Service
      Windows event log
      Windows Update

      If they have not been started, then start one by one.

    2. If the temporary folder of Windows Update has been damaged then it is suggested that you rename the folder c:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution to what you want. This will take care of all the corrupt downloaded files.  (http://taurarian.mvps.org/WU_Vista/softwaredistribution.htm)

      Make sure you reboot if you rename the folder c:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution as the same cannot be recreated properly unless you do.

    3. If it is the Windows Update Agent that doesn't work-

      Click one of the following links as appropriate for the operating system.

      x 86 versions of Windows - download the WindowsUpdateAgent30 - x 86 .exe package.
      http://go.Microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=91237

      x 64 versions of Windows - download the WindowsUpdateAgent30 - x 64 .exe package now.
      http://go.Microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=91238

    Note: I read that this file can not be launched directly from the root directory of the system so select a drive where Windows Vista is not loaded (maybe a flash drive).

    To install the Windows Update Agent, click Start, click Run and type: "D:\WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe /wuforce" (without the quotes) and press ENTER to install the Windows Update Agent. Note that "D", for example the Flash drive you saved the Windows Update Agent for.

    Also note that there is a space between "D:\WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe" and "/ wuforce.

  • Error 8000FFFF when you try to install the update

    I tried both options. First, I used Mr. Fix It and the response was that iupdate has been installed, the next day, I realized that is not true to fact. When I started the update of Windows Vista again, I got the same error 8000FFFF. This means that I n 't have the same update again. I tried the other option for the Proz tech and I did not succeed.

    What this means for me, Mr. Fix It Pro can not solve this problem, and as I am not a tech Pro, I can't fix either. What is the solution for this problem?

  • Inefficient Windows Vista Update - Error 8000FFFF - solutions

    I recently reformatted my hard drive on my Dell Inspiron 1520 Windows Vista 32 bit and was trying to reinstall all my drivers and my os back to date; I was hoping to install sp1 and 2 that day. However, after several rounds of updates without any hitches, I met update KB29777, who introduces himself as important and seems inherent in the system in order to install the sp1, and at the same time, sp2. I can't solve the problem with Error 8000FFFF

    That's why my machine's own almost all of the errors with a new os and reformatted hd.

    I tried all the solutions proposed for me and more found on these forums including;

    Fix It utility, followed by restart;

    manually remove the 3 potentially corrupt registry values (which were not there because there is a new os);

    and even download the update manually from the Download Center microsoft and tries to install (which says that it has been a success, but obviously wasn't)

    Anyone wants to shed light on the issue?

    Cheers, Hugh Wright

    Hi HughWright,

    Hello

    I have an application that I downloaded from the App Store of Windows 8 (RTM version), who has recently had an update, but Windows Store could not be updated and returned the error code 80070057 0 x.  But after the update failed, Windows Store still lists old as installed APP and calls the updated application.  I tried reapplying the update but it keeps fails with the error 0 x 80070057.  I tried to look for ways to uninstall it, but the Live tile has been removed from the home screen (not listed under all the Apps either), so there is no way to uninstall it.  Now I'm stuck with Windows Store perpetually asking the updated application.
    Does anyone know how to uninstall a Windows 8 application without the Live tile?  Thank you.

    update of sql server 2005 service pack 3 error code 6D9E Windows update security does not accept the update

    Hey lasdj,

    Thanks for posting in the Microsoft answers site!

    If you receive Windows Update error 6d9e while installing SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 3 by using Windows Update, it means that the installation folders and directories are compressed or encrypted.

    To fix this problem, make sure the folder locations where you are installing the service pack to aren't compressed or encrypted, or specify a different folder and then run Windows Update again.

    Therefore, remove the compression of the DATA directory and run together to the top again.

    Remove compression from the C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server folder and see if you are able to install the updates without any problem.
