Impossible to update Movie Maker 2.0 2.1

I had XP SP3 since its release, but recently discovered that my Movie Maker is version 2.0.3312.0, while 8 of the dll in the same folder is all 2.1.4026.0.

I doubt that reinstall SP3 after about 1 1/2 years of updates additional is safe (?) - just to get the exe to 2.1 MM.

What are the options should I get 2.1 MM running?

  • Movie Maker will not see a preview of the video, but plays sound

    Hello

I know this question has been answered before, but I tried the suggested solutions and it doesn't seem to work. I used the MicrosoftFixIt tool to find any bad codecs and none came. I clicked on one of the links to download an older version of NVIDIA, as suggested, but I'll be honest, I have no idea what I'm doing.

All I want to do is to edit videos on Movie Maker, but I can't because I don't see what I'm doing. Even if I just put a picture, nothing is displayed in the Preview on the left area!

When I export the video she plays very well because I have strung together some pictures and a few videos with a mp3 file on the top and everything I played correctly once it had been exported.

I made a movie in Movie Maker 2.1.  I am trying to import music (6 pieces) and I get the error message that Movie Maker does not support the MPEGs.  I just updated my XP Pack 2 with XP3 thinking this would solve the problem, but I still get the same message.  How can I get my music?

    Hello

The MPEG2 format has several codecs that are not supported by Windows Movie Maker. Even if you have downloaded and installed these codecs on your computer, the files in MPEG2 format may not work in Windows Movie Maker or may cause other problems. Convert MPEG2 format to another compatible format may work for most MPEG2 files. However, some MPEG2 codecs include copy protection that prevent you from converting the file.

  • Movie Maker black screens. AVI after nVidia update

I have been using Windows Live Movie Maker (15.4.3538.0513) for several months with no problems.  I've updated my nVidia drivers last night and now I get a black screen when you import .avi files into Movie Maker.  It worked before.  I did a system restore to the previous version of the video driver and Movie Maker is capable of processing the .avi files.  I also tried to reinstall the codec files, but I am at a loss on where to go next.  Help?

.wmv files seem to be working before and after the upgrade from nVidia, but FRAPS capture .avi files, and I'm not interested in going the extra step to convert - it worked fine before.

Looks like roll back the video driver is the answer. Unless you have
a specific program that requires the view is not necessary to press to update
    anyway.

Now, I see that you use Windows Live Movie Maker and this is why
There is no compatibility tab. I guess I think of Vista Movie Maker 6 when
I see a question of Vista.

FWIW... .avi files can be converted to a lot in most of the converters and
insofar as quality loss... the files will be converted in any case when Live Movie
    Machine saved as WMV.

Vista Movie Maker 6 (better IMHO application) can record in DV - AVI.

What is the format of the music files? Could be interesting
trying to convert them to WMA format before

Just because a file is played in Windows Media Player

Several formats are apparently compatible with
Movie Maker, but the most reliable choices are:

  • Movie Maker: Only necessary updated to include Source file Clip Footage.

Hello - I have created a movie using parts of various DVD and wide.  I am to convert each DVD in some parts of an .avi file, then the image preview to see what are the parts that I want in my film.  Say, for example, I have import a 80 MB, 10 minutes .avi file into movie maker.   I then split into clips manually using only a few pieces I want.  So on this file, only 1 minute is actually used in the film.  I remove all the remaining elements of movie maker letting those that I need, but these clips are always referencing the original 80 MB file.  So, I need to keep the file 80 MB on my hard drive just to use 8 MB of it in the film. This is forcing me to keep files on my computer when I only need part of it and could make my move over much bigger it must be.

Is it possible to export the individual after their separation clips so that the source files I need to keep is only the part of the clip I need?

When I save my project as a movie, he's going to bring to this large file 80 MB for the final version, or only the part of the file I need is?

Yes, the source files must be available... Movie Maker only
records the path he archive not clips.

If divide you the images and delete all unwanted content
Since the timeline... you could save the music published under a
different name to the film DV - AVI or WMV format, then
