  I have problems when I download from the internet, I get an unknown Publisher saying the error message windows, my internet pages show also error on the page, a part of the page is missing or it's full of garbage. I have no idea how I did all this and come back to this computer from the place of the computer because the old hard drive died on me and they put in another. It was working fine until I felt the need to clear up disk space and delete some old programs. I'm sure I messed up and deleted a file that was necessary to open others. I don't have the XP disk to try a fix and nothing in the pages of microsoft download will run. Oh please I don't want to take that back to the computer type that will charge me an arm and a leg.   There is no Windows Vista downloads available from Microsoft.

  You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

  They should do this for a small fee.

  And if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought your computer, there should be a recovery Partition on the hard drive to reinstall Vista on how you purchased your computer.

  The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)

  Maybe it's F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc., depending on the manufacturer.

  Ask them to the proper key sequence.
