Update service Windows Virtual PC Win7 maxing out CPU

I have a laptop with the following specs:

OS: Windows 7 Professional x 64

Service Pack level: SP1

RAM: 16 GB

Proc: i7 2.5 GHz

HARD DRIVE: 500 GB

I try to use Windows Virtual PC as a sort of training lab; install multiple operating systems of servers desktop systems.  I do this to prepare for the MCTS certification exam which includes a lot of different installation, upgrade and troubleshooting methods.

Unfortunately, I recently ran into a problem that Microsoft support 'Pro' claim that they have never seen, and Microsoft chat online says is not their responsibility. They also try and send me to VMWare technical support for troubleshooting Windows Virtual PC.  I have also done my own research on the issue and found a nightmare wait.

I installed Windows 7 Pro x 86 on a fresh virtual machine.  Once completed the Out Of Box Experience and I logged on to Windows, the CPU almost immediately turned to 100% and detained; eight hours later has not changed.  After some research in the system, I found that the root of this was wuauserv, Windows Update Service.  Once I closed Windows Update Service, use of Proc immediately fell to 4% and remained stable. I turn back on and it still shoots right up to 100%.  I tried to remove and reinstall the OS and virtual machine entirely, I ran all sorts of analyses of files and even held a rally where we sacrifice a goat to the gods of the windows; nothing has worked.

Given that Microsoft is no help on this, can someone give me a help?  I found an article for this problem in Windows XP SP2 and one for XP SP3, but nothing for Windows 7.

Thank you all.

  • MacBook Pro (15 inch, end 2013) with MacOS Sierra 10.12: kernel_task maxing out CPU with external display

I have a maxed out end 2013 the MacBook Pro Core i7 to 2.6 GHz, 16 GB of DDR3 RAM, 1 TB SSD, NVIDIA GeForce GT 750 M 2048 MB, Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB.

Also, I have a DELL P2415Q Display 24 inches (3840 x 2160) using Thunderbolt, are involved through the headphone jack and use a USB for lightning to recharge my iPhone.

I upgraded to macOS Sierra the day he is released and had no problems until this morning. I unplugged my external screen and speakers and used my laptop for about 15 minutes, the battery, and then returned to my office and plugged my Thunderbolt, rear speakers display in and my CPU shot at 100% and never came back down. My Mac is essentially useless because kernel_task is eating all my CPU and to prevent another asks to enter the CPU.

I have since audited equipment - everything was fine, reset the NVRAM and I tried to erase IOPlatformPluginFamily.kext .plist files but I couldn't on my Mac (trying to follow this guide, started in Safe Mode and everything then went to try and find the file and my Mac just does not have it). When my external screen is plugged if I'm doing anything CPU intensive (videophone, opening of Chrome, etc.) then my kernel_task gets mad again, and the only way to move is to unplug my screen. Connect my iPhone to charge the tips also my kernel_task as well. I followed my internal temperatures, and nothing was out of the ordinary, to cold currently at about 140 °.

At this point, it seems that any time that puts something on the charging system and increase the temperature internal internal components of my Mac kernel_task maxes my CPU, which brings my Mac to its knees.

Any ideas how to fix? Is this just a major bug in 10.12?

  • Maxing out CPU with Google Image search, some other sites

When I try to use Google Image search or load items of SBNation, the Firefox maxes CPU usage site and it stops responding during 10 seconds before it has loaded everything. It is a new problem that has arisen in recent weeks.

I tried to disable all addons and plugins, deleting the cookies, clear cache, downgraded version beta at 23 and none seem to make no difference.

    Hello

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. As this feature has been added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there are still some problems.

You will have to perhaps restart Firefox for it to take effect, so save any work first (e.g. you compose mail, documents online that you are editing, etc.).

    Then perform the following steps:

    • Click on the orange top left Firefox button, then select the 'Options' button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to tools > Options.
    • In the Firefox options window, click the Advanced tab, and then select 'General '.
    • You will find in the list of parameters, the checkbox use hardware acceleration when available . Clear this check box.
    • Now restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.

In addition, please check the updates for your graphics driver by following the steps in the following knowledge base articles:

  • DSA maxing out CPU data acquisition

I'm developing an application on a PXI-8196 (Windows XP) controller that uses a card PXI - 4472 DSA to read a single microphone and a FFT signal analysis. I need solve the two frequencies of 36kHz (and), so I've planned for sampling 96 kech. / s. I wrote a simple loop of data acquisition, configuring NI44xx DAQ/read screws using read the string unique at this rate, but when I run it, it immediately pegs my CPU 100% usage. So far, I did have problems with missing samples or the system crashes, but I am a little concerned that only data acquisition uses all my CPU time. Y at - it tricks that I can implement to reduce the CPU load?

I tried to vary the parameter samples per channel - with sizes ranging from 1000 to 48000 samples - buffer but I do not seem likely to reduce the CPU usage. Changing the sampling frequency affects the CPU usage (up to about 40% to 48 ksps / s; ~ 75% 72 ksps / s), though. According to this KB: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/D9DDF9FA02D1C18A86256EBC0016C93D

"A controller Embedded PXI-8176 can compute all the time of the spectra of FFT power on 8 channels for PXI-4472 clocked at 102.4 ksps / s »

so I think with my 8196 I should have no problem at all to read only one channel 96 kech. / s.

Anyone have any suggestions to reduce my CPU Overload? Thank you!

Have you tried to clean your Temp folder, you can do this by typing folder in the Start Menu RUN box.  This will open your Temp folder, there, you can remove all Windows will allow you to do.

It may be necessary to show both hidden and system files and also uncheck 'Hide known file types' in Control Panel / folder Options / view to navigate to the mentioned location of Temp.

This example may or may not work for you with your program, use the built-in Administrator account to perform the installation?

"It seems that the"Run as Administrator"command gives you administrative privileges only, and they are not enough to install Java (and OpenOffice, by association). To work around this problem, you must actually connect to the built-in administrator. Open a command prompt with admin rights by clicking Start, type cmd in the search/run box, hit CTRL-SHIFT-ENTER. At the prompt, type:

NET user administrator / Active: Yes

Then disconnect from your regular account and folder administrator integrated, where you might be able to install the program. When you are finished, open a session to your regular account and, for security reasons, disable the built-in using administrator account:

  • Windows 7 Home Premium x 64: activation of the service Windows Update crashes my computer after upgrade RAM

A few days ago I had two sticks of 2 GB GSkill RAM by mail. Here's the same brand, model and size as the pair currently installed (obviously). (Sticks alternate according to the specifications of the card from my mother)

After you have installed the new RAM and the computer starts up, it freezes within about 30 seconds of connection. Before installing the new sticks, I had no problem whatsoever.

My first thought is that I sit the RAM properly, then I go and reinstall it. I start, and the same thing happens.

So obviously this RAM must be bad, right? When I take out news, not gel. Ah, but when I remove the OLD stuff and use new instead, I ALSO no gel. So maybe it is not the RAM.

Then I reboot in safe mode. No gel. Interesting. I opened the window 'System' and it says "memory (RAM) installed: 4.00 GB ', which is correct." I opened CPU - Z, and it reports also 4 GB of memory. I run a few hours and have no problems whatsoever. So I say to myself, there must be either a Windows service or a 3rd party service is causing the issue and not the new RAM.

I disable all services of 3rd parties and restart in normal mode. It freezes. OK, so maybe (though unlikely) I have a virus any (I say probably not because I have to) run the module additional firefox NoScript, and set to block all flash, javascript, xss, iframes, etc. - in other words, only allow to my whitelist and B) I have Windows Firewall and running McAffee and updated.). But I decided to first try Windows services for the hell of it.

So I enable only the services that start in safe mode as my reference, disabling the rest via services.msc. I start normally and not gel. Great, then maybe it is a Windows service. I start which allows one service after another without any problem. I get to the bottom of the list and select the Windows Update service. Within literally 10 seconds my computer crashes. Large.

As a validation test, I put all services back to the base line of safe mode and only allow Windows Update. I start normally, and again once it freezes.

Another test of validation, I start with all normal, but disable Windows Update. Do not freeze. I'm going to start Windows Update. Yet once, it freezes for about 10 seconds. So clearly something is in place.

As a third and final sanity check, I remove the new RAM and run a Windows Update. He finds a few optional updates, but not critical. My system is up2date.

My only attempt to solve this problem so far was to backup all Windows Update DLLs (C:\windows\system32\wu*.dll, although I don't know if these are good) and do a scan sfc to replace them with copies of 'good '. It did not work.

    So my question is:

Why cares Windows Update that I have 4 GB of memory installed?

    Thank you

    Jon

    1. I 'upgraded' from the RC of Windows 7 x 64 for Win 7 x 64 Home Premium.

    2. I use McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.7.0i, DAT version 6060, Scan Engine 5400.1158

    3 No.

    4. No, I put together this computer myself.

I think the USB storage is a separate issue. And.

I think I * may * have solved the problem of origin with one or more of the following (don't know who):

    • Updated the software of the chipset of the card from my mother.
    • Updated HD Windows audio drivers to the recommended ASUS (Realtek) HD audio drivers
    • Updated since Windows installed NVIDIA display drivers for version NVIDIA WHQL.
    • Increased my tRFC (refresh time of line) to 70 52 clocks clocks. Set my GSKILL DRAM voltage recommended by 2.1V. Off the SPD DRAM configuration (I read that ASUS is not entirely based on the SPD and can affect things on its own).

I had WU for 20 minutes from writing this post without a freeze, so we'll see. (Previously, it would freeze within 10 seconds of turning on WU)

Maybe the disc has been formatted as part of your original installation of Windows XP with a pre - SP1 version of Windows.  At that point, he could only format the drive as 137 GB.  After you upgrade to a post-SP1 version of Windows, look at your hard drive with Disk Manager (start-> Run-> "diskmgmt.msc").  It can show the rest of your unused space that you might then be able to allocate in a second partition.

If you want to keep one big partition, you will need to get a 3rd third party tool that can extend your current 137 GB partition to use more of the available space.  Google for it, plenty of them out there including those that are free.

    Hello

Have you made changes on the computer before this problem?
    Method 1:
You can try to start the fix - it and check. Check out the following link.
The problem with Microsoft Windows Update is not working
    http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/windows_update/

    Method 2:

You can read the following article.
Cannot install updates in Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2
Note: this section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base. How to back up and restore the registry in Windows:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/back-up-the-registry

Note: If bad sectors are detected when running check disk utility and attempt recovery of bad sectors is verified during the verification of the drive for errors, data in the bad sector can be lost as they tried to recover bad sectors.

    Method 3:

I also suggest that you scan your computer with the Microsoft Security Scanner, which would help us to get rid of viruses, spyware and other malicious software.
The Microsoft Security Scanner is a downloadable security tool for free which allows analysis at the application and helps remove viruses, spyware and other malware. It works with your current antivirus software.
    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: the Microsoft Safety Scanner expires 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

Important: When performing analysis on the hard drive if bad sectors are found on the hard drive when parsing tent repair this sector if all available on which data can be lost.

  • It's going to be an update for Windows Vista (home premium 32 bit is what I'm running) which will trigger the max score until Windows 7 is going to?

    I have these sides:

    CPU - 4.7

    RAM - 4.8

    Graphics - 5.9

    G. graphics - 5.9

    Disk hard - 5.7

What I want is to be able to tell how my graphics card is really because it's maxed out at 5.9. I know that if I was running 7 it would be 6. _ or maybe even 7. _.  So is there an update I can download for vista which will allow my ratings reach the coast on windows 7?

Not - or at least not likely (but the drivers, firmware or software updates regular for the device using Vista may helo).  The ratings are based on this device using the disks appropriate for your version of Vista device and it.  How it works in Windows 7 (if it works in Windows 7) is from THESE drivers and the operating system (and other components on this computer).  Even if you can and did move to Windows 7, there is no guarantee that you would get all the numbers even better less significantly better numbers - although it is certainly possible amd I know that it has been the case for others who have updated.

The best place to check the updates of device driveer (or firmware or software related, if applicable) is either the manufacturer of the computer if it came with the computer or the manufacturer of the device.  Their websites should have the links and downloads and they will be the most recent and the best available (better that what you could get through Microsoft - in fact, I suggest strongly you never use the drivers supplied by Microsoft and always bring manufacturers directly. What is the most recent will be available to give you the best possible results (before the upgrade of the unit such as adding more RAM tp the video card if your system and it can accept more RAM).

You cannot use Windows 7 device on a Vista machine drivers.  Not only which won't work (if it allows even the facility) and will not improve ratings but that could seriously damage your system or device.  Please take my word on it and don't even consider that it.

Just check out the manufacturers for updates of device (drivers, firmware and/or software) and keep your system up-to-date with the latest available, and that's the best you can do.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!
