  • VM upgrade inplace from 2003 to 2008 is possiable

2003 and 2008 comes with different controllers if this is the case if we do inplace upgrade on 2003 same controllers come 2008?

    Hello

Please upgrade the operating system first, and then upgrade the hardware of the virtual machine.

But VMware does not recommend inplace upgrade, it is best to do a new install of the operating system.

  • Upgrade of Broker for connections from 2003 to 2008

First off I'll just say my name is Sarah - I write under our account for the company (I don't want to give Darren any bad credit rating!)

It took a challenge to achieve our next release of VMWare View 4.5 to 4.6, as well as that us want to migrate our main login server in a replication group from the current Windows Server 2003 (Standard) to a new box of Windows Server 2008 R2.

A Windows 2008 Server server is currently sitting spare, I'll build it first and then add in the environment - the main reason I'm writing is to understand the best way to make this new server instance standard Adam in our replication group, and best to do!

    • I first upgrade all the current 4.6 connection broker, then install the new server as an instance of replication, then when its fully synchronized am I able to change this to a standard instance and remove the former broker for main connections?
    • Can I install the new server as a standard instance immediately - the other connection server will see this and reply anyway?
    • Alternatively, the easiest would be to first install 4.5 on my Windows 2008 machine, join my view environment and then take it from here?

Apologies for the lack of knowledge in some areas, its all a learning curve for me and I have mounds of documentation to read as well as via the Internet. I'm hoping to get this upgrade right first time on my own...

    Thank you.

    Sarah

I think the easiest way to upgrade to 4.6 environment, add new 2008 server in the environment of 4.6 and remove Server 2003 environment.    As usual always do your backups beforehand.

  • Best way to upgrade of domain Active Directory from 2003 to 2008

I have a specific situation.  I need to upgrade an AD 2003-2008r2.  We are not comfortable making the leap for 2012.  Basically, the original design was 5 offices of each with a domain controller.  Each domain controller has a file share, but also the "Users" folder  I thought up starting with the new servers side by side.  DCPromo the 2008r2 new servers to domain controllers.  What is the best method to move the file shares and files users in this case?  Once files are moved I can then DCPromo down servers 2003 and raise to the 2008 field.  All IP addresses are static throughout the environment.  He didn't design this way... but having to deal with it.

This issue is beyond the scope of this site (for consumers) and to be sure, you get the best (and fastest) reply, we have to ask either on Technet (for IT Pro) or MSDN (for developers)
  • AC DC not started after migration from 2003 to 2008

    We get the error message

  • Migrate from 2003 Server VM again 2008 VM

It is partly a matter of NTFS, but I thought someone here could have done that. I need to move from 2003 to 2008. Unfortunately, I can't make a room upgrade because 2003 virtual machine is 32 bit and I'm moving to 64-bit, so I have to use MS. migration tools My VM has a C drive and a player of D & D a all data. My question is, can I migrate my C drive only and then attach the new 2008 virtual machine on the existing drive I use to D drive? Or y at - it some compatibility problem between 2003 and 2008 to NTFS?

    Thank you.

    Tim

No problem. NTFS in 2008 is just a minor version and in any case, he can read well old 2003 NTFS.

  • Just improved m tips on best practices for sharing files on a Server 2008 std.

The field contains about 15 machines with two domain controllers, one's data is the app files / print etc...  I just upgraded from 2003 to 2008 and want to get advice on best practices for the establishment of a group of file sharing. Basically I want each user to have their their own records, but also a staff; folder. Since I am usually accustomed to using windows Explorer, I would like to know if these actions can be done in the best conditions. Also I noticed on 2008 there is a feature of contacts. How can it be used? I would like to message or send an email to users their file locations. Also, I want to implement an admin at a lower level to handle the actions without making them far in on the server, not sure.

I read a certain bbut I don't like test direct more because it can cause problems. So basically a way short and neat to manage shares using the MMC, as well as the way that I approach their mail from the server of their actions. Maybe what kind of access cintrol or permissions are suitable also for documents. Also how can I have them use office templates without changing the format of the model.

    Hello again,

Thought I would let you know that I've finally sorted this! :)

In another forum I read a post from someone who had a similar problem and solved it by uninstalling the "failures" updated, restart the PC and then re-run the update. It worked! It had not occurred to me to try what I've assumed that 'impossible' meant that they had not installed at all, not that they didn't had simply not installed correctly and must have become corrupt.

I hope this will help someone else who has the same problem, I've had!

    Best wishes

  • Error 0xc00000e9 on Windows Server 2008 std

I have a Dell Poweredge R410 which works well for over 3 years now and has Windows Server 2008 std 64 bit.

At Christmas, let him download and install updates.

But going back, I found it displayed error '0xc00000e9' and ' boot manager is missing or damaged.

I tried to repair by original DVD disc but I can't find the installation of windows 'fix' and on that list, empty it.

If I try to boot with the disc of Windows 7 Pro, I can see the existing installation of windows.

How can I fix this server?

I can not format because of the payload inside.
