Upgrade of Broker for connections from 2003 to 2008

First off I'll just say my name is Sarah - I write under our account for the company (I don't want to give Darren any bad credit rating!)

It took a challenge to achieve our next release of VMWare View 4.5 to 4.6, as well as that us want to migrate our main login server in a replication group from the current Windows Server 2003 (Standard) to a new box of Windows Server 2008 R2.

A Windows 2008 Server server is currently sitting spare, I'll build it first and then add in the environment - the main reason I'm writing is to understand the best way to make this new server instance standard Adam in our replication group, and best to do!

  • I first upgrade all the current 4.6 connection broker, then install the new server as an instance of replication, then when its fully synchronized am I able to change this to a standard instance and remove the former broker for main connections?
  • Can I install the new server as a standard instance immediately - the other connection server will see this and reply anyway?
  • Alternatively, the easiest would be to first install 4.5 on my Windows 2008 machine, join my view environment and then take it from here?

Apologies for the lack of knowledge in some areas, its all a learning curve for me and I have mounds of documentation to read as well as via the Internet. I'm hoping to get this upgrade right first time on my own...

Thank you.

Sarah

I think the easiest way to upgrade to 4.6 environment, add new 2008 server in the environment of 4.6 and remove Server 2003 environment.    As usual always do your backups beforehand.

  • Best way to upgrade of domain Active Directory from 2003 to 2008

I have a specific situation.  I need to upgrade an AD 2003-2008r2.  We are not comfortable making the leap for 2012.  Basically, the original design was 5 offices of each with a domain controller.  Each domain controller has a file share, but also the "Users" folder  I thought up starting with the new servers side by side.  DCPromo the 2008r2 new servers to domain controllers.  What is the best method to move the file shares and files users in this case?  Once files are moved I can then DCPromo down servers 2003 and raise to the 2008 field.  All IP addresses are static throughout the environment.  He didn't design this way... but having to deal with it.

This issue is beyond the scope of this site (for consumers) and to be sure, you get the best (and fastest) reply, we have to ask either on Technet (for IT Pro) or MSDN (for developers)
  • error cannot connect to vworkspace broker for connections. Please contact your system administrator.

    Hello

our current facility is the next version:

vWorkspace Version 7.5.304.547 on Windows 2008R2 Standard.

When a new user logs in via the HTTP link brokers, they see the web portal with the logon text boxes, but when they enter their credentials, they receive the following error message:

error cannot connect to vworkspace broker for connections. Please contact your system administrator.

existing users can connect without problems. We have verified that the user account is not locked.

I checked the link, however, we have much farm.

I restarted the connection brokers and checked the event logs without finding the problem.

Good skills in Debug. I remember that the 8000 Char limit. Well, the good news is, we have fixed this bug 4 years ago! He has been vice Id 191744

    It was fixed from 7.6.

If you have a support contract, you can switch to one of the newer versions and the problem is solved.

  • Level broker for connections to windows server 2012

    Dear,

I would like to know if there is any risk that the upgrade of the OS of the server holding the broker for connections, web access and management of the profile of windows server 2008 R2 to windows server 2012 or more to enable support of HTML5 connector? Please tell us what is the scenario for these updates.

    Concerning

    Hi Habibgha,

Hoping to upgrade the OS on-site? It should work, but I don't know if it has been tested. Assuming that your infrastructure servers are virtualized, perhaps you could take a snapshot or clone this virtual machine and try in a lab environment?

Or you can work on a step-by-step approach, the first stage being, if your current farm is 8.0.1 you can upgrade all roles on your current server on 2008 R2 for vWorkspace 8.5, then build a new VM with 2012 R2 and install IIS and access to the Web of vWorkpace role. Create a new vWorkspace site web access on the new server just for the connector of HTML5.

    I hope that helps!

    Thanks, Sam

  • VM upgrade inplace from 2003 to 2008 is possiable

2003 and 2008 comes with different controllers if this is the case if we do inplace upgrade on 2003 same controllers come 2008?

    Hello

Please upgrade the operating system first, and then upgrade the hardware of the virtual machine.

But VMware does not recommend inplace upgrade, it is best to do a new install of the operating system.

  • syntax for connecting to sql server 2008 with mutiple servers

There seems to be two servers each there own database of base catalogs.

Its Server1\detail_data Windows then the catalog of the database has many dbs

Server1\configl_data then the catalog of the database has many dbs

    Syntax of the ODI

    JDBC:WebLogic:SQLServer://Server1:1433

    I can not enter jdbc:weblogic:sqlserver://Server1 \detail_data:1433 or jdbc:weblogic:sqlserver://Server1/detail_data:1433

No idea on the syntax?  JDBC:WebLogic:SQLServer://Server1:1433 will access the first server, but not the second.

    JDBC:WebLogic:SQLServer://servername \OtherInstance

It works... It seems that the second instnace may as well be port 1433. They do not have to be different ports

  • Migrate from 2003 Server VM again 2008 VM

It is partly a matter of NTFS, but I thought someone here could have done that. I need to move from 2003 to 2008. Unfortunately, I can't make a room upgrade because 2003 virtual machine is 32 bit and I'm moving to 64-bit, so I have to use MS. migration tools My VM has a C drive and a player of D & D a all data. My question is, can I migrate my C drive only and then attach the new 2008 virtual machine on the existing drive I use to D drive? Or y at - it some compatibility problem between 2003 and 2008 to NTFS?

    Thank you.

    Tim

No problem. NTFS in 2008 is just a minor version and in any case, he can read well old 2003 NTFS.

  • Login to view server does not accept connections from Microsoft RDP

Hello everyone and thank you for taking the time to help me in my attempt to jump into the world of the VM.

I managed to get everything up and running with little trouble, but I'm a bit confused on the subject of clients.

I understand that the PCoIP connection method is preferred... but I want to better understand the methods of connection and keep soft things as possible.  Being as I'd like to be able to connect to the pool by using the customer view and Microsoft's RDP client provided with windows, but I meet an obstacle.

My office pool was initially set PCoIP preferred, but allowing users to substitute... I could not connect via the view client no problem for my pool of offices not persistent, but not with the Microsoft RDP client using the address of the connection manager.  If I put the IP address of one of the XP VM in the pool I can connect via RDP, but not via the connection manager.

I get the pool to be favorite RDP that allows the user override... no change.

So I'm confused as to how it works... is the connection broker/manager only work with the client of the view, or I would be able to connect anyway?

Am I missing some setting?  I did my setup based on the 'evaluation' guide, then maybe there's a checkbox miss me.

The pool works seamlessly with VMware view client but not MS RDP. Pointers on where to find would be greatly appreciated.

Here is my config of pools:

Number of workstations (at a minimum): 10

    Number of workstations (maximum): 10

    Number of workstations (available): 2

    Stop commissioning error: Yes

    VM naming pattern: NPVM

What VM is not in use: do nothing

Turn off and remove the virtual machine after the first use: No.

    Automatic disconnection after disconnection: never

ITTech2002, in your response you said

«No need to use the MS RDP Client directly, but it is a good work-around if necessary.»

You say that you cannot connect to the pool of offices with the help of MS RDP, rather you need to connect to PCs by IP address rather than the broker for connections are so?

View client appealed to RDP and PCOIP according to which selected protocol.  The display client uses the broker for connections to allocate your session, provide the usb redirection and map printers.   So in a sense, you can use RDP with the broker for connections with no problems, but there must be through the client view.

  • Tecra S10 - 10F - need Server 2003 or 2008 LAN driver

    I'm looking for a driver lan for Toshiba S10 - 10F for Windows Server 2003 or 2008.
Or at least, I would like to know the model of network card.

    Thank you

Toshiba doesn't support an OS Server on laptops, so you will not find such a driver on the Toshiba site.

You can try to search for a driver on the site of the factory. As far as I know that the Tecra S10 has a Intel LAN card while you should search on the Intel site [www.intel.com]

In addition, you can try to use the XP Server 2003 driver and driver Vista for Server 2008. The two you can find on the Toshiba site:

    Good luck!

    The following versions of Microsoft Outlook are fully supported on Windows 7;

    • Outlook 2003
    • Outlook 2007
    • Outlook 2010 (when it came out)

It is recommended to always update your version of Outlook directly after installation to take care of any question of incompatibility which have been corrected.

    Previous versions
    Another version of Outlook is not supported on Windows 7. Although you may install it, any compatibility issues is not corrected. For example;

    • Outlook 2002/XP works on Windows 7, but it has the same problems remember password when using Windows Vista.
    • Outlook 2000 cannot be installed in Internet Mail Only Mode (IMO) and must be installed in company/workgroup (CW Mode) Mode to prevent a mistake wab.dll.

  • The upgrade of my desktop pc from HP a1540n for photo editing

    Hi all

I am currently running Win XP SP2 on desktop HP a1540n; System specs are here:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c00679533

After you have maxed out my RAM (4x1Go), the system has worked well for me for about 4 years.  However, I'll buy a new 36 MP digital camera and need to upgrade the operating system to a minimum (for Vista or Windows 7) to take over some of s/w that I use for photo editing. At the same time, I am considering a few hardware upgrades as well to improve the speed of the system (I work with large files).

I'm looking for options in order to make the system work and, if $ allow to improve performance.  I would like some advice on whether if it is worth upgrading the hardware or just bite the bullet and withdraw from the newer system for somethng.

Option 1: OS upgrade only, pref for Win 7; cost: ~ $140

Option 2: upgrade MB (with processor), optionally add a video card. upgrade cost:?

    Option 3: new system; cost: ~ $1000.

Option 2 makes any sense?  So I hate to waste the old h/w, I'm not sure whether this option is profitable.  Can the remaining material (power supply, etc.) support and are working properly with the motherboard more recent or other improvements will be necessary as well (in addition to the OS)?  I will be attaching multiple drives (some new, some existing); a new MB give me USB3 ability, or is it a separate addon?

    All advice/recommendations would be appreciated...

    -Rob

    Rob, welcome to the forum.

This is one of the most difficult situations to address.  The upgrade can be a good option if the original components are even more recent.  However, a computer that is 6 years old becomes a dinosaur.  As a result, purchase new may be a much better option.  If you can afford the $1,000, I think you would advance money.

  • HP T5540 + broker for VDM connections

I have a system running server VMWare View.

I had two thin Clients, one with Windows XPe and antoher HP T5540 with Windows CE 6.0.

First I installed View Client on my Client lightweight Windows XPe, everyhing worked properly and I have connected successfully to my virtual machine.

After that I want to do the same thing with my HP Windows CE computer. I downloaded the broker for VDM connections on HP website (sp42067.exe) and tried to install it. When I double click on the executable nothing happens. It is not yet a new windows or anything else. How can I install this client on my machine Windows CE or it's the wrong way to connect my VMs?

Thanks for your help and sorry for my bad English

    Hello

It is normal, this is a package for installation of altiris. This means that for WindowsCE computer thinclient, you must use altiris to install Vmware View Client package.
